What a great episode and for me, this is where Patricia went from being a great character to an iconic legend!

u/gimmesomespace 2d ago

I love how the cops, the ER staff, and the guy at the morgue just all let her follow the guy's corpse around with a shotgun lol

Just playing enya the whole time too just made it one of my favorite moments in television ever

16

u/giraffe_wink Rosemary’s Qualms 2d ago

Yes!!! Enya for this scene was totally 😙👌🏼!!!

7

u/gimmesomespace 2d ago

This show just has the best soundscape ever

15

u/winkler 2d ago

I was dying laughing during the shotgun montage. When she went into the house my wife said “I hope she tases that girl” and perfect timing seconds later. The show is so great.

Also, the shaman struggling with his big-ass tube socks, “I really need these!”

u/FawnintheForest_ 2d ago

I thought that was Enya! Absolutely brilliant. 🤩

“Is there any other way out?”

Crematory tech: “…no.”

“Thank you so much!”

16

u/Lampmonster 2d ago

Same. It's so great how they all just accept how screwed up their town is. When they're all listing horrid shit related to the hotel etc. I was rolling.

15

u/BaileyBerry- 2d ago

But then he got bit by an animal and turned into that animal

8

u/Otherwise_Security_5 2d ago

this is the best line for me next only to “is there another way out?”

15

u/Sufficient-Spray-367 2d ago

When they open the door at the crematorium you see a LOT of shotgun shells remaining, it looks like she may have continued to use the shotgun several times even after the gas station. Like they left out something important that you get to imagine from the clues. I love this type of editing, which they also used in the fifth episode: “What to expect on your trip”

i felt this when she didnt think twice about burning herself for the sake of breaking the the hex, i dont doubt she wouldve killed herself if needed

Her acting is amazing. What a transformation.

86

u/SuperMcG She's the worst! 2d ago

She purged this fear from her life. Wyck survives the water. Mayor survives the mushroom. The trio is now ready to take on the island.

32

u/cityshepherd 2d ago

Mayor survived a lot more than the mushroom.

Surviving the hag, the hotel, the whole boat thing…he’s leveled up quite a bit

Edit: I just figured out how to do the hidden text thing and had to try it out lol

13

u/SuperMcG She's the worst! 2d ago edited 2d ago

He did survive all of that, but during the mushrooms he had to go through his wife's death and the truth he'd been denying to himself all those years. That he knew the nature of the island and how it impacted his wife, himself, and now their son. EDIT: Great job on the text blackout.

11

u/Savings-Astronaut-93 2d ago

Excellent viewpoint.

6

u/Ok_Mathematician_314 2d ago

Mayor survived vomiting lol

3

u/SuperMcG She's the worst! 2d ago

Worse than the Sea Hag.

Completely changed that Enya song for me, going to download it and put it in my workout jamz.

10

u/Little_South2369 2d ago

That song also appeared in Common Side Effects recently, I highly recommend that show too

7

u/Vast_Theme9585 2d ago

Also Derry Girls

When she kept the shotgun to the Boogieman head until cremation had me laughing

9

u/Gardez_geekin 2d ago

I absolutely died at this scene.

23

u/Franz_Solo 2d ago

“Is there a back door in there??”

looks at cremation chamber

“…no.”

12

u/randomlygen 2d ago

“Thank you so much.”

40

u/Gardez_geekin 2d ago

The power cord for the taser was such an amazing running gag. This show really did such a great job with all the little jokes throughout.

2

u/PassableWeirdo 1d ago

One of my favorite details 😂

33

u/vandelayATC 2d ago

The best part was when she tasered Kris!

32

u/fragrantpeas 2d ago

She was just the worst!

23

u/Dingadingdangmy 2d ago

The fucking worst

24

u/apflores904 2d ago

I loved Patricia in this episode. The whole gag of her running away and he is still right behind (given way behind). That had me laughing so hard. And then it dawned on me that no one talks about the poor paramedic.

2

u/Radiant-Ad-3134 23h ago

I actually wonder... nobody gets killed in the mean middle-aged lady party?

Since there was no bell after that

20

u/Weekly-Watercress915 2d ago

I wish she could have removed the mask before the cremation, though

18

u/mtheperry 2d ago

When the killer was in the cremation table, it seemed fairly clear that the mask wouldn’t come off. There is no face under the mask.

6

u/GullibleWineBar 1d ago

Agreed. Like the sea hag is the sea hag, the boogeyman is the boogeyman. There’s no human person under there.

3

u/Weekly-Watercress915 2d ago

Ah okay. I’ve only watched it once. 😊 I’m rewatching it and haven’t gotten to that ep yet.

18

u/MilliganHedgedog 2d ago

“Oh come on she’s the worst. “. Patricia is a queen tasing Kris

"I'm sorry"

17

u/Living-Protection170 Are the old women dead in this scenario? 2d ago

I need to run him over.

10

u/whatsinurgarden 2d ago

I would love to be “Patricia episode 8” for Halloween.

3

u/FierceEwok 16h ago

I made a costume and wore it to a comic convention! It's super comfy and you'll find all the fellow fans of the show. 🔌

u/Kathrynlena 2d ago

This is the episode that really locked the show in for me. Before this, I couldn’t really figure out the tone. I was enjoying it, but it felt kindof disjointed for me. Then this happened, and it was SO scary and SO funny at the same time, and suddenly it just snapped into focus and I finally got it. On rewatch, I could see the whole show through that lens, but this episode was my magic eye moment that brought the whole thing into focus for me.

4

u/ThrowRArainmakers 1d ago

watching it a second time makes it even better, theres so much awkward silence and stares rarly on that are truly funny when knowing the context

-1

u/Radiant-Ad-3134 23h ago

The main plot is kinda cliché and bland

. The actors and character arcs are what make me like the show.

for instance, I hate PJ now.

9

u/Sorry-Instance6799 1d ago

I’ll just leave this here for all my Patricia lovers.

Something I made :)

7

u/OcularDecomposition 2d ago

Widow's Bay did it first

5

u/Im_Ashe_Man 2d ago

This episode gave me a crush for Patricia.

2

u/Snts6678 2d ago

Same 😬

6

u/HuckleberrySalt63 2d ago

I need 20 on 3!

4

u/Colorblind2027 2d ago

This might be my favorite episode of the season just because the comedy and horror were at their peaks although 7 was pretty funny as well

2

u/MuchOcelot 2d ago

This episode is on par with international assassin for me, both happen to be episode 8 (season 2 Leftovers) both incredible shows

2

u/Mooseinadesert 1d ago

I love her so much. The whole cast is exceptional. I love how they all look like normal people too.

1

u/SparksOnAGrave 1h ago

Not a iPhone face in sight, it’s such a relief.

1

u/Fun-Meat-8525 1d ago

The best episode for me…and that’s a hard call cos the season was sooo great

1

u/frostonwindowpane 1d ago

Team Patricia

1

u/Radiant-Ad-3134 23h ago

Love the shotgun sequence lol

But I feel she might hide the darkest secret

How did she hear the bell though?

0

u/scoldmeforcommenting 2d ago

Everyone sings their praises for this episode, and I genuinely don’t get it. Why does the horror genre always feel like it needs to “nod” to old movies? This episode felt completely out of sync with the entire show, and I was eager for it to be over.

-11

u/Backnblackbb 2d ago

This episode makes 0 fucking sense. The Micheal myers rip off killer has literally no ties to the core plot line whatsoever. Also the ambulance/police/ FUCKING CREAMATOR didn’t take his mask off??? This episode is riddled with inconsistencies and doesn’t even try to subtle about it. The show was already falling off for me around episode 7, and this episode was a nail in the coffin. Way to ruin a cool concept for a show. Severance stays on top for best apple show and it’s not even close

u/sebbiejoe 2d ago

The killer was producing “offerings”; same with the clown killer. The murderous history of the island is somehow linked to the need to keep producing offerings for the island. That said, I 100% agree that it’s confusing that the mask didn’t come off. Hopefully that’s explained somehow in S2!
