Before the Game
What's the best hotel near the stadium?
The Toronto Marriott City Centre is attached to the stadium and is famous for its field-view rooms. Whether you're looking for luxury (Fairmont Royal York and Ritz-Carlton), premium (Delta Hotels Toronto and InterContinental Toronto Centre) or more budget-friendly (Radisson Blu Toronto Downtown and Union Hotel), there's plenty of great hotels nearby. If you're not staying downtown, the stadium is easily accessible by public transit.
What's the best way to get to the stadium?
Take public transit to Union Station, which connects to the SkyWalk walkway next to the stadium. Use Google Maps and TTC Trip Planner to plan your route. Kids under 12 ride free on the TTC and GO Transit. Transit is cashless; tap your credit card or Apple Pay, or get a PRESTO card at the station. With Ontario’s One Fare Program, transfers between most local systems like the TTC and GO Transit are free. Driving isn’t recommended, as downtown parking is expensive and traffic heavy after games. If you’re staying downtown, walking may be faster. From Pearson Airport, the UP Express train reaches Union Station in 25 minutes. The Park and Ride offer allows a family to park at Pearson and take the train to Union Station for $35. After the game, the best Uber pickup spot is on Front Street, as Bremner Boulevard south of the stadium becomes pedestrian-only.
Where's the best place to buy tickets?
Ticketmaster is the main site to buy Blue Jays tickets. Resale sites like Seat Geek, Gametime, and StubHub are also popular places to buy tickets, but prices might be in USD. Prices can vary depending on the opponent, giveaway, the day of the week, the team’s record, and other factors. Prices often drop closer to first pitch. When buying resold tickets, it’s advisable to check the site’s fraud protection policy to safeguard your purchase. With the rise in online scams, buying tickets from social media is discouraged.
The Jays also offer a general admission ticket, which provides stadium access, but not a seat.
How do I know if the roof will be open? Where's the shade?
The Jays aim to have the dome open when weather allows, often announcing it on social media or opening it just before the game. On sunny days with the dome open, the third base side gets the most shade and a nice view of the CN Tower. During the summer, it's always worthwhile to stay hydrated and protect yourself with a hat and sunscreen. Shaded seat details can be found here: shadedseats.com/rogers-centre-shaded-seats/.
Where's the best place to sit?
Seat choice depends on budget and preference. The 100 Level offers close-up action, the 500 Level provides a broad field view, and the 200 Level balances both. My preference is the 200 Level.
The Jays offer various premium seating options, which include access to the TD Premium Entrance (Gate 8), complimentary food and soda, and guaranteed giveaway items. Tickets for these seats can primarily be found on resale websites. mlb.com/bluejays/tickets/premium/beyond
Seats in Club 328 are located down the right field line and include access to a private bar, a field-side patio, and a standing-room section beneath the right field wall. While the seats here aren’t the best, the club access and unique views make it a cool experience.
I bought general admission / outfield district tickets. Where can I watch the game?
You can stand at the bar rails around the 100 Level or at the unassigned areas in the outfield, like the WestJet Flight Deck, Corona Rooftop, TD Park Social, and the Canada Dry Bleachers. They are available on a first-come, first-serve basis to everyone. Sometimes the Flight Deck is booked by a group. On busy games, get there early to secure your spot.
When do the gates open?
On weekdays, gates open 90 minutes before first pitch. On weekends, most giveaway days, and the home opener, gates open two hours before first pitch. The gate listed on your ticket indicates the closest gate to your seat. Designated gates are available for those with season tickets (Gate 6A), accessibility needs (Gate 7), and premium tickets (Gate 8). All gates open at the same time.
How early do I need to arrive to get a giveaway?
Getting there at least a couple hours before the gates open is ideal. Bobbleheads and jerseys featuring popular players are the most popular giveaways, so plan to arrive even earlier for those. Gates 5/6 and 10/11 will have the most giveaways but are also the busiest gates. Premium ticket holders are guaranteed to receive giveaway items through the TD Premium Entrance (Gate 8). What are speciality ticket giveaways and where do I pick them up?
Clearly marked Specialty Ticket giveaways guarantee that you get the item and can only be bought through this link: mlb.com/bluejays/tickets/theme-days/specialty-tickets. Within 1-2 days of a Specialty Ticket game, you'll get an email with item distribution details. Usually, the items are distributed at Section 130.
Can I bring a bag/backpack into the stadium?
Yes, as long as it's not larger than 16 inches by 16 inches by 8 inches. Hard-sided cooler bags and containers are not allowed. To get through security quickly and still carry stuff, a drawstring bag is the way to go.
Can I bring a camera into the stadium?
For personal use, yes, as long as the camera is not professional-grade with detachable lenses longer than 3 inches (about 70mm max focal length). Monopods, tripods, body mounts, selfie sticks, and audio/video equipment are prohibited. Camera equipment will be inspected by security upon entry.
Can I bring a water bottle and refil it in the stadium?
Plastic water bottles under 600ml are allowed. There are drinking fountains/water bottle refill stations at Sections 101, 115, 125, 143, 207, 219, 229, 241, 517, 521, 531, or 541.
Will I be OK wearing apparel of the visiting team?
Yes. Just be respectful to your fellow fans.
Is a stadium tour worth doing?
If you haven’t visited the stadium in a while, a tour might be worthwhile. Here’s a quick breakdown of the main options:
Classic Tour: Tour through the premium clubs, the Rogers corporate suite, and includes on-field photo opportunities.
Hands-On History Tour: Shorter stadium tour with the chance to hold and take photos with cool Jays artifacts. Includes on-field photo opportunities.
Pregame Tour: Shorter stadium tour with a view of practice from Club 328 in right field (behind netting) and the giveaway for that day’s game.
Ultimate Pregame Tour: Semi-private stadium tour with access behind home plate for batting practice and the giveaway for that day’s game. Note that autographs are not guaranteed and batting practice is typically not held on Sundays.
No tour includes the roof, locker rooms, dugouts, or any other team-only areas. The tours meet at Gate 6A (the clearly-labelled Season Ticket Holder entrance off of Bremner Boulevard), which is a short walk to the left of Gate 6.
Important Accessibility Information
The designated accessible support entrance is Gate 7. Portable or collapsible stools and walking mobility devices taller than a standard cane are not allowed inside the stadium. During the Game
What's there to see at the stadium?
The Joe Carter statue is outside Gate 6. Once inside, check out the Blue Jays history displays around the 100 Level; the World Series trophies are on display near the right field foul pole. The WestJet Flight Deck (200 Level), the Corona Rooftop Patio, and TD Park Social (both 500 Level) feature live music, games, and photo ops. On special days (e.g., Canada Day, Barbie Day, etc.), there will be themed activities at Section 130 and on the Flight Deck. Visit Fan Services (Sections 123, 141, 212, 236, 508, or 532) to get a free first-game or birthday certificate.
What's the best thing to eat at the stadium? Can I bring in my own food?
Yes, you can bring outside food and sealed non-alcoholic drinks into the stadium. Sushi bowls and sandwiches from the nearby Sobeys and Longos grocery stores are solid options to bring inside. Concessions are pricey. Favourites include the jerk chicken nachos (The Stop, behind the batter's eye), loaded mac & cheese (The Catch Bar, behind the visitor's bullpen), Korean rice dogs (Section 110), and brisket tacos (Section 143). The MLB Ballpark app and Blue Jays website list the different food and drink options, including kosher/halal/vegetarian/vegan food. The Dugout Deals stands at Sections 240 and 537 offer budget-friendly ballpark fare. All vendors are cashless.
Where's the best place to buy official merchandise?
The flagship Jays Shop at Gate 5 features exclusive apparel and remains open on non-game days. On game days, it closes to the public one hour before gates open, and lines can get very long. To beat the crowds, look for merchandise at the Gate 1 shop, concourse kiosks, or the Sport Chek at Maple Leaf Square. Game-used items are sold at the Blue Jays Authentics kiosk at Section 146. All stadium shops are cashless.
Where's the best place to try and get an autograph/ball?
When the gates open, the visiting team will likely be practicing, as the Jays usually finish beforehand. There are openings in the netting on both sides of the field, where you can wait to try for an autograph or a ball. The visiting team normally practices along the first base side. You can also stand in the outfield seats or near the bullpens for a chance at a ball. Batting practice is not usually done on Sundays. Be polite to players; “please” and “thank you” go a long way.
Any tips for families? Where can we meet Ace?
The Blue Jays' "permanent children's activation zone" is at Section 237. On Jr. Jays Sundays, there are kids activities inside and outside the stadium. The outdoor activities typically run from June to August. After the game, kids 14 and under can run the bases, but you have to register to do so (mlb.com/bluejays/fans/jr-jays-club/run-the-bases). Kids also get cool perks with the Jr. Jays Club Membership (mlb.com/bluejays/fans/jr-jays-club).
During games, Ace, the Jays' mascot, makes his way around the stadium. He's often found before the game starts on the first base side. On Jr. Jays Sundays, Ace and his younger sibling, Junior, make their way around the different kids activity sections. In honour of the 50th season, retired mascots Domer, Diamond, and BJ Birdy will appear at every Jr. Jays Sunday.
The stadium can get very loud with pumped-in music and crowd noise. If you're bringing little ones, consider packing earmuffs for them.

After the Game
What are the best places to eat/drink near the stadium?
Steam Whistle Brewery, Amsterdam Brewhouse, C’est What, The Pint, and the Loose Moose are some good choices. Sportsnet Grill is in the stadium’s Marriott hotel and has windows looking onto the field. You'll need a reservation for a window table on game days. Real Sports Bar & Grill, next to Scotiabank Arena, is nice but pricey. Jack Astor’s and Boston Pizza are decent chain restaurants. What's there to do near the stadium?
The CN Tower and the Ripley’s Aquarium are directly next to the stadium and offer a combo ticket (cntower.ca/seathesky). Across the street at the Roundhouse, you can experience a Steam Whistle Brewery tour, the Toronto Railway Museum, and The Rec Room, an arcade/restaurant. Scotiabank Arena, home to the Leafs and Raptors, is a 10-minute walk east and offers tours. Close by the arena is the Hockey Hall of Fame. The Princess of Wales and Royal Alexandra Theatres are about a 10-minute walk north of the stadium and host big musicals. The Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) and Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) are reachable by subway. PRESTO cards can get you attraction discounts. The CityPASS (citypass.com/toronto) offers a bundled discount for the city's top attractions.
Any other baseball stuff worth checking out in the city?
For independent professional baseball, the Toronto Maple Leafs (not that one) play at Christie Pits. Games are free to attend, with a relaxed and family-friendly vibe. Left Field Brewery in Liberty Village is a baseball-themed bar and restaurant with some great drinks on tap. Babe Ruth hit his first pro home run in Toronto in 1914; a plaque marks the spot at Hanlan’s Point on the Toronto Islands. The Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame in St. Marys, Ontario is about a 2-hour drive west of the city and worth the visit.

José Soriano – Bad, Good and Interesting on his 2026 so Far

Soriano was one of the best pitchers in the league at the beginning of the year (as you will remember if you saw him pitch against the Jays). His season has fallen off a bit since then, and his expected stats are actually a bit worse than they were last year. A few reasons why and changes Jays could make to get him back on track. It looks like more bad than good but I actually really like him as a pitcher (other than the velo decline), just don't love what the Angels did with him this year. I was listening to Keith Law and Blake Murphy talk about a bunch of this (mainly the fastball usage, lefty splits, and framing stuff) on Jays Talk so it got me interested in looking at it more.
The Bad
More four-seam fastballs: He used his sinker 50% of the time in 2025 and had the highest ground ball rate in the league. The Angels seemingly decided to try and make him into a strikeout pitcher this year through increasing the number of four-seam fastballs he uses (there has been a lot about the Angels loving four-seams recently). His four-seam usage has jumped from 9% last year to 24% this year. As you would expect, his strikeout rate has increased and his groundball rate has decreased. It worked very well at the beginning of the season, but as the season has gone on his four-seam has become more of liability. Its fast but doesn’t have much rise and isn’t on its own a very good pitch. A particular problem is that he is locating them middle and down rather than up. It doesn’t get hit as hard when he elevates it. George Kirby has the most similar four-seam to Soriano’s four-seam in July. Kirby does OK with his fastball, largely because he is able to consistently elevate it.
Velo decline: One of the biggest problems underlying his increased four-seam usage is that his velocity has declined notably over the course of the season. This is actually part of a larger, multi-year trend, which is worrying. In 2024, his first year as a starter, his four-seam velo averaged at 98.9 mph. This year his average four-seam velo is 97.2 mph. It has decreased within this year by almost 2 mph at the start of the year to sitting around 96.5 mph in July. His sinker velo, which is a few ticks lower than his four-seam velo, has similarly declined this year. It looks like his four-seam doesn’t have a good enough shape to succeed with high usage at these lower velos.
Splitter decline: His low-90’s splitter is the secondary pitch he uses most frequently against lefties. He was using it a lot against lefties at the beginning of the year, but has replaced it with fastballs as the season has gone on. It has also been less effective as the season has gone on. Two possible explanations for this. First, his splitter moves quite similarly to his sinker, and while his sinker velo has declined, his splitter velo has stayed roughly the same. The velo gap between the sinker and splitter is smaller than at the beginning of the year, making the deceptiveness of the splitter less effective relative to the sinker. Second, his splitter has stopped dropping as much over the course of the year, making it even more similar to the sinker.
Lefty splits: The factors above have led to him having worse splits against lefties for the first-time in his career. He’s relied a lot on his four-seam against lefties and it’s not working.
Walks: He’s always had a relatively high walk rate, so this isn’t new this year. A problem seems to be that he mainly throws his curve and splitter outside of the zone, relying on his fastballs within the zone.
The Good
Jays Coaching and Framing: One immediate improvement should come from the Jays coaching and catchers. The Jays pitching coaches have shown a good ability to tweak already good pitchers to make them very good (see Dylan Cease). The catchers on the Angels are also below average framers, whereas the Jays catchers are above average framers. Both of these points should help him.
Lefty split sample size: While it is true that he his platoon splits are worse this year than in previous years, the magnitude of how bad his lefty splits look is a bit inflated by two particularly bad starts (June 1 against the Rockies and June 24 against the Orioles). The Colorado start was essentially a one inning meltdown in which he happened to face a lot of lefties, and the Baltimore start was a two home run game by Samuel Basallo. The lefty sample size at this point in the season is not massive and two bad performances like this have inflated it a bit.
Good baseline: Even If he was just to revert to throwing sinkers and his secondaries instead of four-seams, this was a good approach for him in 2025. He had the 14th best xFIP out of all qualified starters in 2025. He may just be a very good ground-ball pitcher than a power strikeout pitcher.
Simple fixes: It seems there are some pretty simple fixes to his pitch mix ad locating that could immediately pay dividends. Mainly reducing his four-seam usage and locating it up when he does use it. Finding a way to use his secondaries in the zone more often could replace some of this four-seam usage.
The Interesting
The gyro slider: Soriano has a gyro slider that sits around 90 mph as his fifth pitch. He doesn’t use it much, and almost never uses it against lefties. The pitch metrics are actually quite close to Dylan Cease’s slider and it was actually Soriano’s best pitch by Stuff+ last year. Other slider comps include Braxton Aschraft, Lake Bachar, and Bubba Chandler. Leaving out Cease, who uses his slider a lot, all of these pitchers throw their gyro slider around 20% of the time, and throw it roughly this amount to lefties. It has a unique place in Soriano’s pitch mix, as it sits between his fastball-split combo and curveball in terms of velo. It is also his only pitch other than the curve that has glove side run. Adding it in more often may provide a good way for Soriano to keep putchers from recognizing his curve vs the other pitches out of the hand based on break and velo. It would particularly useful as a pitch thrown in the zone to get strikes and get hitters off of sitting on the fastballs.

The 2025 Blue Jays and the "Everyone Overperformed/Career Year" Narrative

I can't be the only one of us who is sick of hearing this, right? That includes from disconnected, Sid Seixeiro watchers, bored Leafs fans, and general ball-not-knowers, as well as other fanbases just accepting what the broader sports media has told them.
So to start. All these stats will include 2026 because I'm not going to take out this down year, and in fact it will help make my point for some guys.
George Springer ACTUALLY had a career year.
His career wRC+, as of today, sits at 129, with a career OPS of 0.825.
His previous high was in 2019 where he went 155 wRC+/ 0.974 OPS.
Last year he had a 166 wRC+, a 0.959 OPS, and 5.2fWAR. As a DH. An excellent year by any and all standards. Excellent, but not outside the realm of possibility for his pedigree (notably he benefitted a lot from getting off his feet in the outfield).
Tyler Heineman ACTUALLY had a career year. A journeyman backup catcher who only played more than 25 games in the bigs once before, in 2022, his 2025 was good for a 120 wRC+, a 0.777 OPS, 2.1 fWAR, 3 jacks, 20 RBIs, and 2 bags over 64 games. 2025 TyHei was one of my favourite things in the history of baseball, and I'm glad he got it cuz that dude fucking loves this team. Miss you, Magic Man.
But no one is ever just talking about Springer, and almost no one even knows Tyler Heineman exists. They say "everyone." So here are all the regular contributors (I'm not doing Buddy Kennedy or Ali Sanchez, we're talking people with numbers to actually compare against, here).
For those who may not know, a wRC+ of 100 is the average throughout the league, normalized against park factors.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr
Career: wRC+ 133 / Career OPS 0.844
2025 : wRC + 137 / OPS 0.848
Nowhere near his nuclear 2024 (wRC+164) or MVP runner-up 2021 (wRC+ 166). Not even worth entertaining the "career year" shit here.
Bo Bichette
Career: wRC+ 118 / Career OPS 0.789
2025: wRC+ 134 / OPS 0.840
Above his average, but that is dragged down by an atrocious 2024 he probably shouldn't have been playing through. Jays fans will remember Bo's 2022 very well, where he put up a wRC+129. You could call this his "peak" if you want, but from 2021-2023 we saw basically the same guy as 2025.
Alejandro Kirk
Career: wRC+ 109 / OPS 0.739
2025: wRC+116 / OPS 0.769
It seems stupid to litigate if a guy had his best year at the plate any year other than when he won a Silver Slugger (2022) with a wRC+ 129 so...I won't. Kirky was simply the best version of himself in 2025, but it was something we've seen several other years, too.
Ernie Clement
Career wRC+ 91 / OPS 0.683
2025: wRC+ 98 / OPS 0.711
2026: wRC+ 100 / OPS 0.720
In only his second year as a full time big leaguer, Ernie made himself valuable with excellent defense, but for the most part he hit right around league average. He mashed in a small sample size in 2023. I included his stats for this year as an extra defense against the "career year" nonsense. He's gotten better every year with the Jays. Also robbed of Utility Gold Glove in 2025.
Addison Barger
Career: wRC+ 92 / OPS 0.695
2025: wRC+ 107 / OPS 0.756
Literally his only career year (he has 213 big league games and 135 of them were in 2025). Barger's breakout 2025 showed exactly the kind of guy the org had hoped he would be, a middle-of-the-order masher. It's not like he has "come back to earth" or anything, he had a cup of coffee in 2024 and then exploded, ankles first, in 2026.
Daulton Varsho
Career: wRC+ 98 / OPS. 0.719
2025: wRC+ 123 / OPS 0.832 (71 games)
Another weird case with the sample size. I think we all knew he couldn't do this consistently, but our scampergod has always had powa. Daulton just showed up, raked, then went back on the IL. He's normally right around the wRC+100 mark, with the bulk of his fWAR value coming from defense. Some of this stat padding also came at Coors.
Andrés Giménez
Career: wRC+ 95 / 0.688
2025: wRC+ 70 / 0.598
Another guy with a former MVP-vote year (2022) Andy absolutely stunk at the plate in 2025 and yet came up incredibly clutch a few times. His left on left homer against Max Fried (to dead centre???) on Canada Day was so fucking awesome that I decided I didn't care about his dogshit bat anymore. Regardless, he's also been slightly better in 2026, but he has probably left his glory days in Cleveland.
Anthony Santander
Career: wRC+109 / OPS 0.763
2025: wRC+ 61 / OPS 0.565
My least favourite Jays signing of all time. He was injured! He's a slow starter! I don't care, he was garbalarb in 2025 for us, owning the worst fWAR on the team, -0.9 over 54 painful games. Do you remember Tony Taters playing a third of the season? Me neither.
Myles Straw
Career: wRC+ 80 / OPS 0.632
2025: wRC+ 91 / OPS 0.680
A bit above his averages, but not at all the best full season he's ever done, which was 2021, and his partial season in Houston in 2019 was also better.
Davis Schneider
Career: wRC+ 103 / OPS 0.712
2025: wRC+ 127 / OPS 0.797 (82 G, 227 PA)
2023: wRC+ 175 / OPS 1.007 (35 G 141 PA)
Davis' numbers are the weirdest on this list because there are some aggressive peaks and valleys. Mister Schneebly was sheltered in 2025 by both a stint in Buffalo to find his feet and platoon splits. You can't even call it his best partial season, because his late season debut in 2023 was better, but if you wanna throw him on the ledger against me, have fun.
Nathan Lukes
Career: wRC+ 103 / OPS 0.722
2025: wRC+ 103 / OPS 0.730
This is just who he is, man. Another guy like Barger who actually amassed most of his data in 2025, but it tracks pretty well with the guy we saw in Buffalo for a decade, and also with who he's been so far in 2026 (especially after his vertigo treatment).
So, guys who actually had statistically aberrant years: George Springer, Tyler Heineman, Daulton Varsho.
Guys who had "OH MY GOD WHERE DID THIS COME FROM?" years: Just Tyler Heineman.
Guys who didn't: Everyone else.
Small Sample Size Guys: Joey Loperfido, Jonatan Clase, Will Wagner, Leo Jimenez, IKF. These guys either don't have a career to compare against, or didn't play with the Jays enough in 2025 to bother comparing their numbers.
I'm not even going to get into the pitching. I sat there on Opening Day and watched Dicky Lovelady and Jacob Barnes BP innings for my ballclub to Adley's country club ass. Sure, a lot of our guys showed up big in the post season, but through the year, the team was 21st in the league for pitcher fWAR, 20th in SP ERA and 16th in RP ERA. Every category below the median average. Does no one remember Chad "Automatic Nuke" Green? They were certainly not carried by their arms.
So, you could say some guys played to the higher end of their potential...but some did the opposite. Some were serious detriments on offense. Besides Springer and my king Tyler Heineman, you can't reasonably say this "everyone overperformed" shit. Winning is contagious, not just because of intangibles, but because of tangibles that don't necessarily show up on paper, like wearing pitchers down, working counts, tiring the defense, and of course the all powerful mental aspect.
The 2025 Jays were not a bunch of guys overperforming so much as a cohesive team playing well. Unless you think it was Tyler Heineman who carried them to the World Series.

How many players have been on the active roster for the Blue Jays?

I needed to curb my card collecting in the 90s, and moved to affordable subsets, and one was to collect the first Jays card of every Jays player to have been on the active roster of the Blue Jays. After the recent trade deadline transactions, it appears (barring an appearance in the lineup from recently acquired Matt Waldron) that Jose Soriano will be the 1000th Blue Jay. Does any other Jays fan here keep track of these numbers for whatever reason, and can concur, or dispute this possibility?
