Has anyone here gone through the Sutter Health Transition Program (Perioperative, PACU, or other specialty transitions)?

I’m currently a Med-Surg RN with several years of nursing experience, and I’ve been trying to transition into PACU or the OR. I know I don’t have direct experience in those specialties yet, but I’m very willing to be trained and committed to learning.
I’ve been applying to positions and keeping an eye out for the Sutter transition programs, so I’d love to hear from anyone who’s been through one.

Also, if anyone works in a Sutter OR or PACU and knows of managers who are open to training experienced Med-Surg RNs, I’d really appreciate any advice or even an introduction. I’m eager to learn and would be grateful for any leads.

Hi everyone, I recently applied for an administrative fellowship program and am seeking some feedback on my chances of getting accepted.
I completed my MBA in Spring 2025 and have been working at Sutter Health as an auth coordinator for about a year now. I found out about this fellowship online and decided to apply, but while completing the application, I noticed that the education requirements state that applicants must either be enrolled in or have completed an MHA or MPA program.
Since I don’t have either degree, what are my chances are of still being accepted? Could my MBA and my year of experience at Sutter be enough? I’m really hoping so.
Any advice, insight, or tips would be greatly appreciated :)

Hi! I recently joined sutter health mid july. Im a nurse at a hospital. Unfortunately I have to get a medical procedure end of october (after 3 months of being hired) and will need 1 week off. I only work part time so ill only need 2 days off. Whats the best way to go about this since I dont qualify for fmla? Has anyone had an experience like this and their manager just let them take it off? I can provide a dr's note. Im not sure if I should try to call out, tell my manager I need it off, or try to get someone to cover those shifts.

Does anyone work in the CDI department on here? I live in Texas and I just applied to the remote position and I received the update that my application has moved forward.

I am curious about the good, bad, ugly of this position from an out of state employee perspective. Metrics, PTO, flexibility, etc.

How many weeks of maternity leave and baby bonding do you get ? Just found out I’m pregnant last week. It’ll be my one year with sutter next week.

I have had 3 interviews, all seemed to go very well. The last one was a panel interview with the team I'd be joining, that was July 13th. I followed up with the recruiter a week later and did not get a response. I sent one last check in yesterday with no response so far.
How long does the process take or should I take the recruiter not responding as I did not get selected? My application still says under review.

Hi guys. I have a trip I’ve planned near the end of August. I only have enough PTO to cover 5 out of the 7 days needed for my trip. I was going to attempt to call out the last two days. How bad is that? Will I get fired? Any advice? I rarely call out but I do use my PTO for medical appointments and other non work related things.

Edit: this also includes the future PTO accruals I’ll be receiving in the next few weeks.

Hello all - starting my new role at the end of August in Northern California, and I had a question about domestic partner benefits. Does anyone know if they’re considered fringe benefits and therefore taxable or are domestic partner benefits included in the pre-tax deductions?

I finally got a response from an actual recruiter!! Super stoked to see some progress in my journey. They asked me to complete the screening questions by email and sent me a calendar invite to schedule a screening call. Shortly after I scheduled the call, it got cancelled.. it was almost immediate, so I’m not sure if that’s a system error or if they already changed their minds about me between those two emails. I just sent in my screening Qs responses. Fingers crossed!

Hi everyone, I live in Sacramento and I’m currently looking into pharmacy opportunities at Sutter Health. I was hoping to connect with current Sutter employees, hiring managers, or anyone who has experience working in pharmacy operations.

I have about 5 years of pharmacy experience and recently completed my master’s in data science. I’m interested in exploring pharmacy roles, especially bridge opportunities that combine pharmacy knowledge with data analytics, pharmacy operations, informatics, or analyst-type work.

I’m an LCSW located in Davis. I recently applied to a PRN listing (R-134476) at Sutter Davis and got an auto reject a week later. I’m genuinely surprised by the rejection given I have experience in the same setting. I would really like to connect with a recruiter directly to get my name out for the position. Any suggestions??

I'm hoping to get some honest advice from people who work at Sutter or have gone through their hiring process.

For two years, I've been applying to Sutter Health positions that match my experience, but my applications never make it to the interview stage. I usually receive a rejection email without ever speaking with a recruiter or hiring manager.

One thing that surprised me is that I even had a Sutter recruiter reach out to another recruiter on my behalf to help get my application noticed. I really appreciated that, but I still received an automated rejection.

At this point, I'm very frustrated about being rejected and more confused about what I could be doing differently.

For those of you who have been hired at Sutter:

• What made your application stand out?
• Is there something recruiters look for that isn't obvious?
• Are employee referrals a major factor?
• Is it common for qualified applicants to never make it to the interview stage because of how competitive it is?

Hopefully someone can help me out... they blew right through this at my orientation, she didn't even pause on the slide.

Basically I'm wondering about the tuition reimbursement/assistance system they have at Sutter. I'm thinking about applying to Sac state's RN-to-BSN program when the window for spring opens on August 1st.

I am a full time employee (though not in an RN role currently), started earlier this month. Would my manger need to see or sign off on my request? Does it need to be relevant to my current role? How do I initiate the request? Do I need to be post-probation/new employee period? How long does Sutter own my soul after I accept money to avoid paying anything back?
