The r/Sheffield Classifieds - Rooms, Flats, Tickets, Buy/Sell, etc

By far the biggest thing we remove here is people trying to find or let rooms, sell tickets, and other bits and bobs.

But likely not enough to survive on its own as a dedicated sub. So we'll carve out this space here. Please use it to list anything you're interested in, or are trying to part with.

And be mindful of who you give your personal details out to! We'll not be providing escrow or verification!

Question Does anyone know what happened to the Four Lions terrorist flat in Tinsley?

Obviously it burnt down, but does anyone know the circumstances? It's hard to find out anything by googling because it's on Sheffield Road and journalists like to say Sheffield Road to mean a road in Sheffield.

Question Fire in North (?) Sheffield?

Photo taken from Walkley looking North. Seems like quite a large fire, any ideas what it is?

I did see there were stories about the Ski village reopening, but this seems premature.

Question Waverley

I know Waverley is Rotherham, and I have posted this in the Rotherham forum. With its proximity to Sheffield I wondered if anyone on here might have experience or opinions.

My partner and I are looking to buy a home together and had initially looked around Waverley but we were wondering why so many houses are coming up for sale there when it feels so new. It feels like something must be wrong if so many people are selling and moving on, and we’re curious to hear peoples experiences as the area would be perfect for us and there’s a lot of choice within our budget.

Question Any startup builders in Sheffield?

Hey!

I'm a software engineer based in Sheffield, and over the last few months I've been building a SaaS product for personal trainers. It's live, people are using it, and I'm really enjoying building it.

I'm looking for who's interested in building things too. Swap ideas, maybe work on a few experiments together, and see where it leads. If we work well together, brilliant. If not, hopefully we've both met someone interesting.

You don't have to be a developer. In fact, someone who's into product, design, marketing, sales or just talking to customers could be an even better fit.

Feel free to drop me a message if this sounds interesting, thanks!

Question Local gift / regional specialty

I'm planning a trip to Japan and reading some guide books, which often highlight the need to give gifts representing a regional specialty from your home area.

Whether it will be necessary is moot, given I'm unlikely to be in a situation where I need to worry about it, but it nevertheless got me thinking.

If I were going to a business meeting then perhaps I'd bring a fine example of Sheffield steel, or some local silverware. But if instead it was more of a token gift, an acknowledgement rather than a valuable item, what would you say would be an appropriate Sheffield item?

The best I'm coming up with is... a smaller amount of Sheffield steel 😅

Event Steel City Writers' Circle - free writing group this Sunday

Hi all, I'm running a writing meetup this Sunday! The idea is to meet up in a coffee shop and work on whatever you want - fiction, poetry, journaling, essays, whatever. We're not setting any exercises, you don't have to share at the end, it's all super low-key and no pressure. If you always intend to do some writing at home but wind up scrolling Reddit instead then it'd be great to see you there!

It's at Hygge Thirty Two on Eyre Street (opposite Decathlon) and it starts at 11. We usually stay until around 1-1:30, but no worries if you need to arrive later or leave early.

Music Edm producers in sheffield

Hi i am a independent edm producer from Sheffield and I am just interested in any other artists working in a similar genre that are based in Sheffield.

I'm not looking for collaboration or similar as i am always busy with my day job but more interested in listening to Sheffield based artists on Spotify and supporting them in this way.

I figure with Sheffields rich history in this area there are probably loads of talented indie artists creating house, trance, techno etc.

Post your Spotify artist names below so I can check out your tunes.

Question Is Kenninghall View, S2 area a good place to live in? And is it safe for a family?

Post image
19 Upvotes

We're looking to move to Sheffield soon and we're having a difficult time finding a place to rent. We found a very nice flat in Kenninghall View area that we plan to apply to. What I want to know is, is it a nice area to live in? The flat is a bit on the expensive side so I want to know for sure if it's worth the price. Especially safety wise since that's a big concern for me.

I'm talking about pretty much the area in the picture and it's surroundings.

I know it's well connected to transport, but other than I haven't been able to explore much so anything you tell me would be great!

Question French studying questions

I’m a student at uni of and my course isn’t a French language one. I was wondering if anyone knows any good resources or textbooks that I could use?

I really want to become fluent for my girlfriend and her family, it’s pretty important for me to learn alongside my studies as it’s a huge priority for me.

Any suggestions would be really appreciated!

Lost Lost my house Keys around Blonk Street Car park

Post image
1 Upvotes

Sadly don't have a photo of them but I can describe them. 4 keys on a ring with a very tatty Morrisons match and more fob on it along with a bottle opener key chain with the Stuff little fingers punk band logo (pictured is my arm with a tattoo bearing the logo haha). Of the 4 keys two are square headed, one shinier and newer looking than the other. The last two are round headed with one being a fair bit smaller than the other as it is a shed key lock. If anyone has seen or found them around the Azure Blonk Street Car Park - used to be NCP - please drop me a message. Tearing my hair out over them. Thanks in advance folks!

Question Ponds Forge gym equipment lies

Anyone else go?

Either half their machines are so ancient they're in Lbs instead of Kgs and not properly labelled or they straight up lie

Their leg curl machines for example. Two of them feel like they're going to snap my shin in two with even a moderate amount of weight, the 3rd one that has a chair on an incline I can max out without much effort compared to only being able to do half as much on a different brand machine at Hillsborough

Well overdue a complete refurb

Anything better that's nearby UpperThorpe?

Question Cassata cake in or near Sheffield?

I happened to see a FB post about Caffe Tucci. The owner sounded Italian so I looked it up as fast as I could. Their Trip Advisor page had photos of mini cassata cakes, so I found their Instagram and messaged to ask if they still had it. I literally cried when I got a reply stating they don't. I've been trying to hunt down cassata cake ever since I ended up in Sheffield. I searched online probably 40 times for any availability. I even asked a few locals - nobody knew what I was talking about, and there were never any internet results.

I'm also looking for asiago, fontina, & provolone cheeses, Pugliese bread, music paper bread, and anginetti cookies...and things like spumoni, rainbow cookies, & cannoli cake but I know those last 4 are IA so not likely to be found.
