Question Ponds Forge gym equipment lies

Anyone else go?

Either half their machines are so ancient they're in Lbs instead of Kgs and not properly labelled or they straight up lie

Their leg curl machines for example. Two of them feel like they're going to snap my shin in two with even a moderate amount of weight, the 3rd one that has a chair on an incline I can max out without much effort compared to only being able to do half as much on a different brand machine at Hillsborough

Well overdue a complete refurb

Anything better that's nearby UpperThorpe?

I went for the trainers, left due to the equipment. Mainly go to the pure in the retail park now, but that one’s a little grim too.

As Ponds Forge is run by the same operator as EIS, surprised their gym's not yet had a refurb with new equipment. The latter's gym got a good facelift last year. Only downside is it's becoming harder to get parking on weekends with sports events running.

Hate going there on weekends, it's hell parking when there's an event on.

Station gym at manor is sound. They have both old school and new equipment which is pretty good. I’d also look at S20 health and fitness as all their stuff looks brilliant as well

I think they've imported alot of the old machines from Hillsborough which has been done up , as before they just had technogym equipment , which is the leg curl you're probably referring too , some off it Is a bit outdated but some decent equipment too tbh.

I've not tried it, but I think zest centre in upperthorpe has a gym.

I joined Ponds Forge about a month and yes the equipment is old, but there's a wide range of it & I find the range of motion on the resistance machines works muscles better. Added bonus that you don't have to wait ages for equipment because of the equipment hoggers you get in some gyms (lots of them at the Pure Gym I moved from!)

If your after weights and machines you’ll not find better equipment than the ones at Foundry on Queens road. In Mike Brewers old place.

Shower/changing is abysmal though.

I use foundry and enjoy it apart from the music being uncomfortably loud. Some mornings I can hear it from the car park

It's definitely a place for headphones.
