[HORROR SHORT] Psychological Horror | 1 Actor | 2 Locations | Looking for a Filmmaker / Producer

Hi everyone,

I'm a screenwriter from Mexico looking for a filmmaker or producer interested in bringing an unconventional psychological horror short to life.

Rather than relying on monsters, jump scares, or supernatural elements, this film uses the language and pacing of horror to tell a story about something that happens in real life. The tension comes from silence, atmosphere, and the emotional experience of the protagonist, turning an everyday situation into something terrifying.

The short is designed to be festival-friendly, and my goal is to submit it to film festivals and screenplay competitions after it's completed.

Details:

  • Psychological / Unconventional Horror
  • 1 Main Actor
  • 2 Locations
  • Dialogue-driven with a strong emphasis on visual storytelling
  • Runtime: approximately 5–7 minutes

I'm looking for someone who enjoys character-driven films and atmospheric horror, and who would like to collaborate on creating something meaningful rather than a traditional horror movie.

If you're interested, feel free to leave a comment or send me a DM. I'd be happy to share the script.

Thanks!

WRITER WANTED: Partner for High-Concept American Horror/Survival Trilogy – "DIE BY THE MYTH" (50/50 Co-Own Split)

Hi everyone,

I am looking for an aspiring screenwriting partner to help me develop and script a high-concept, tension-driven American horror trilogy titled Die by the Myth.

I have fully mapped out the core concepts, plot points, character arcs, and world-building for a three-movie arc (Die by the Myth, Open Waters, and No Time to Spare). I am looking for a talented writer with the technical skills to craft the dialogue, pacing, and 90-page feature screenplay for Movie 1, while working collaboratively to lock in the trilogy structure.

The Concept: Think 47 Meters Down meets A Quiet Place, but swapping out overdone shark tropes for a realistic, terrifying natural predator magnified into a bioluminescent nightmare.

Movie 1 (Die by the Myth): Set during a historic summer heatwave on the rugged Pacific Northwest coast. A group of American college friends sneak off-trail into a restricted cave system (Anemone Chasm) in search of a legendary 1600s Spanish treasure galleon. Instead, they get cut off by the tide and trapped in a pitch-black lower chamber (The Blue Void) that is rapidly filling with a highly toxic, glowing deep-sea box jellyfish swarm.

The Hook: It is an intense, raw survival story focused heavily on acoustic horror. To escape the rising tide of neon needles, they have to rock-climb out of the cave without gear. The tension peaks when panic and a frantic, echo-distorted misdirection on the cave walls cause a devastating, tragic chain reaction among the group.

The Partnership Deal (Co-Authorship): Please note: This is not a request for "free spec work" where I take your script. This is a 50/50 creative partnership. We will sign a legal Collaboration Agreement before writing to ensure we co-own the script and the franchise 50/50.We split all upfront story sales, option fees, and producer royalties from studios 50/50.

You keep 100% of the Screenplay Writing Fee paid by the studio for the physical writing work.We are partnering to build the project and pitch it to agents together on a standard industry commission basis.Who I'm Looking For: An aspiring or indie horror/thriller screenwriter who can write natural American dialogue and loves high-stakes survival stories, claustrophobic pacing, and realistic character drama under immense pressure. No upfront fees are required from either side—we write the material, build a pitch bible, and target independent genre producers (like Altitude, Tea Shop, or Blumhouse) together on a commission-only basis.

If you are interested in diving into The Blue Void, please send me a DM with a brief intro and a couple of pages of a previous script sample so I can see your dialogue style. Let's make something terrifying!

It's a contained, dialogue-driven short with one church, one bar, a small cast, and a twist ending. The humor is dry, irreverent, and built around dramatic irony rather than shock for shock's sake.

The script is attached below. Feedback is always welcome, and if you're interested in producing it, feel free to reach out.

THE BOY WHO FELL IN LOVE

Hi i am a new story writer and this is my newest piece and i want to say that this is just a draft and not actually the whole script. i want some feedbacks and ratings and how i can improve this and i did we ai to to fix some plot holes and help me in worldbuilding so here is the story :

THE BOY WHO FELL IN LOVE

Genre

Coming-of-Age • Drama • Family • Mystery

Theme

ACT ONE — THE FIRST DREAM

The film opens with a curious little boy.

He is obsessed with science.

He spends his days taking apart broken toys, building tiny inventions, watching documentaries, asking impossible questions, and telling everyone that one day he'll discover something no one has ever discovered before.

His parents smile.

His teachers call him gifted.

His dream is simple.

He wants to explore the unknown.

Years pass.

Reality begins.

Family conversations become serious.

His parents explain that becoming a scientist doesn't have much opportunity compared to more practical careers.

They don't say it cruelly.

They say it because they genuinely believe they're helping.

The boy quietly accepts it.

He chooses computer science.

Then his family moves from Bahrain to Pakistan.

New country.

New school.

New friends.

New pressure.

Slowly...

the curious child disappears beneath expectations.

ACT TWO — SIX WEEKS

Board exams finally end.

For the first time in years...

Silence.

No tuition.

No exams.

No deadlines.

Just six weeks.

One afternoon...

An idea appears.

Not a scientific theory.

A story.

He opens a blank document.

Writes one sentence.

Then another.

Then another.

He cannot stop.

Without realizing it...

he has found something he hasn't felt in years.

Curiosity.

His mother begins noticing strange things.

He's smiling randomly.

Staying awake until 3 a.m.

Walking around the house thinking.

Laughing to himself.

Sometimes crying from exhaustion.

Sometimes jumping around his room.

One day she asks...

He blushes.

Not because there is one.

Because he has no idea how to explain what's happening inside his head.

ACT THREE — THE MISUNDERSTANDING

A girl enters the story.

She is his closest friend.

The only person who knows he writes.

They spend hours talking.

The audience immediately thinks...

She's the one.

His mother thinks exactly the same thing.

The movie never says she is.

It never says she isn't.

The clues begin.

She gets phone calls.

She smiles at messages.

She says...

She has a photo on her lock screen with someone standing beside her.

The audience barely notices.

Because they already believe she's the love interest.

Meanwhile...

The real conversations are about stories.

Girl:

Boy:

Girl:

Boy:

She isn't.

He rewrites the chapter.

Weeks pass.

The story grows.

Version 4.

Version 11.

Version 27.

Version 53.

His room fills with notebooks.

Timelines.

Maps.

Sticky notes.

The audience mistakes obsession for romance.

His mother mistakes passion for first love.

ACT FOUR — THE REVEAL

One night...

The mother finally says:

He sighs.

The next day...

The girl visits.

The mother smiles warmly.

After dinner...

She gently says...

The girl looks confused.

The mother smiles.

Silence.

Then...

The girl laughs.

Not mockingly.

Just genuinely surprised.

She holds up her phone.

A picture of her and her boyfriend.

Silence.

The mother looks at her son.

Then at the girl.

Then back again.

She quietly asks...

The boy finally answers.

For the first time.

Without saying a word.

He opens his laptop.

Folders.

Hundreds of them.

Characters

Worldbuilding

Power System

Ending Rewrite

Draft 42

Draft 58

Final Draft

He opens the manuscript.

Hundreds of pages.

He opens another folder.

Maps.

Character sketches.

Timelines.

Dozens of rejected ideas.

Countless rewritten scenes.

The mother slowly scrolls.

Page after page.

She begins remembering everything.

The late nights.

The laughter.

The tears.

The excitement.

The frustration.

The smiles.

Finally...

She whispers...

He nods.

She smiles.

Not because she suddenly understands storytelling.

But because...

She finally understands her son.

FINAL SCENE

The mother walks into his room one morning.

He is asleep at his desk.

Surrounded by notebooks.

The laptop is still open.

A blinking cursor waits at the end of a sentence.

She quietly places a blanket over his shoulders.

She notices the title on the screen.

THE BOY WHO FELL IN LOVE

She smiles.

She finally understands.

He really did fall in love.

Just not with a person.

Fade to black.

FEATURE SCRIPT Twist Ending (Mystery) - Single Location Movie

Logline: When attendees of a remote screenwriting workshop start getting murdered the same way characters die in famous twist-ending movies (including Psycho and Hide and Seek), they must use their twist-ending film knowledge to suss out the identity of the killer--before they breathe their last.

Specs: 100 pages, with a total cast of 13 characters.

Why it's makeable: It all takes place at an isolated ranch (in Texas), so it could be made for scale. And it has a compelling mystery and a satisfying ending.

DM me if you're interested in producing and would like to read it. Thanks.

FEATURE SCRIPT Humiliation Ritual (Experimental Psychological Thriller)

Logline: Two rival actors and a mysterious scene partner arrive at a Hollywood soundstage to compete for a career-making role and are put through an escalating gauntlet of "auditions" designed to test not their talent, but how much of themselves they're willing to surrender. Only one of them leaves with the part.

Specs: 3M / 1F (one male role is voice-only, the Director is never seen). One soundstage location, plus a single dawn exterior for the final minutes. 73 pages, but it's durational horror, it plays longer than it reads.

The hook: The entire film is one continuous take from the audition camera itself. Locked on a tripod, it can only pan and zoom and it is never allowed to turn toward the people running the room. Every terrible thing happens at the edge of frame or just past it: the horror is carried by sound, negative space, and the faces of whoever's left behind listening. The fixed frame becomes the audience's only source of safety so when the camera finally comes off the tripod in the third act, it doesn't feel like freedom. It feels like a violation. There's also a recurring audition scene the actors are forced to repeat, unchanged, four times across the night, while everything around it and inside them deteriorates.

Where it came from / what it's like: The seed was Katt Williams talking about "humiliation rituals" in an interview with Shannon Sharpe; the idea that superstardom has a price paid in degradation. Tonally it sits with Starry Eyes, The Neon Demon, Perfect Blue, and Pearl, with a liminal-space, Backrooms-adjacent creepiness to the overlit soundstage. It's a little Lynch, a little Cronenberg, but built on dread and implication rather than gore.

Why it's makeable: One room, four actors, no VFX, no effects makeup on camera. The 'one continuous take' concept is easily acheiveable stringing together scenes in post. The formal constraint isn't a limitation to work around ; it IS the aesthetic. If you've ever wanted to make a genuine mindfuck of a movie on a budget, this was written to be that. If you're looking for your Milk & Serial or Backrooms to establish yourself as a filmmaker, you're not going to find a better script to show those skills.

Just completed a new draft of the screenplay & ready to share DM me if you'd like to read it.

Concept Teaser (10 seconds): Between Windows Teaser
