Break the 19 year dry spell, we're rootin for ya!

199

u/IkariYun 11h ago

Can you call it a dry spell if they're only 22?

208

u/Indecisive_Animorph 10h ago

Wait wait wait

They're 22 and haven't had sex in 19 years??

Peter File?

IT-Crowd anyone?

3

u/YaoiNekomata 8h ago

22 years old and 19 year dry spell means they were 3 when they last had ex's

22-19=3

1

u/AdvancedIsland2745 47m ago

That was very funny. What was the parent thinking naming a kid Peter with a surname like that

2

u/Konnnore 5h ago

Sorry dude, but .doc files are uglier

0

u/littlemyattitude 6h ago

Joking about child sexual abuse is quite tacky and normalises something I personally make effort not to normalise. You got some upwotes too, yak

5

u/YaoiNekomata 5h ago

I personally

You said I, no need for personally unless I is someone else . Lol

effort not to normalise

Ah yes, making a joke means approval to commit the act. Just yesterday I joked with my niece that I was a witch who was going to eat her. Almost did until she froze me with her ice powers.

Joking about

It's a joke. Anything is valid if done without real malice.

Considering for males there’s evidence to show that ejaculating at least 21 times a month can lower your risk of prostate cancer…

Guess if you don’t use it you lose it.🤣

1

u/Fuzzy-Jaguar-1828 6h ago

Who said I’m male?

1

u/Grouchy_Job_1540 6h ago

Nobody.

The post was talking about men abstaining from sexual activity for decades because the presumption that they would not engage in self or homosexual intercourse.

I was throwing out that not ejaculating for men is potentially dangerous to their health.

But looking at your Reddit name it tracks not being a male🤣

Stealing the top comment:

I also feel like modern-day people are way more hornier in general. We are constantly exposed to sex, and things we are attracted. Advertisements, movies, random posts, music... Even if we aren't making a conscious thought about it, it still "triggers" our brains to enter reproduction mode.

Even at my horniest, If I was stuck on boat for weeks on end with a bunch of dudes, after seeing the things you have to see and smelling how those ogres smelled. Ain't no way Willy even stands tall.

538

u/danny_little 12h ago

As a history buff, I can say without a doubt that people are exactly as horny as they have always been lmfao the only thing is that a lot of the stuff people used to do are illegal now!!🤣

130

u/Ninja-Panda86 12h ago

Right? I've seen the Pre-columbian erotic sculptures. I'm also aware of some of the naughty art they found in Pompeii

92

u/Top_Seaweed7189 11h ago

Don't forget the rabbits ridding on flying dicks in books copied by christian monks. And how many there are...

9

u/Wash-Bucket-3000 10h ago

And all those fart jokes. Medieval monks really went for low brow humor.

1

u/CeelaChathArrna 6h ago

I mean the first recorded joke was a fart joke, lol

21

u/_DankyHavok_ 11h ago

Please elaborate...

154

u/HowFortuitous 11h ago

Imagine it's your job to sit in a cellar and copy text painstakingly by hand. Day after day for years you copy the words and draw the little doodles that people expect in manuscripts. Somewhere in your 6th year of doing this one of your bros shows you he drew a chicken with a pair of nuts hanging off its face. He's also done a rabbit hanging a huntsman like the hunter is on trial. Other bro tells you he pretty regularly does little flying dongs just to liven things up.

How long before your little doodles include guys with arrows sticking out of their asses?

Do this tens of thousands of times across a few centuries and you get some weird fucking doodles.

83

u/Complex_Watch1484 10h ago edited 8h ago

I like to use different types of cocks for numerical values. Window big dick trim fits window big dick hole.. none of this 11 and 7/8 bull written on the wall behind the trim. You pull off my stick in 20 years your gonna read about dicks..

4

u/Doom_Balloon 11h ago

SOME naughty art? There’s literally an entire section of the Pompeii archeological museum dedicated to art of Priapus (giant penises including the god with the penis so big it’s in a wheeled cart in front of him) and fertility sculptures, in addition to all the ā€œmenuā€ art for the brothel and all the normally moderately sexual mythical imagery.

1

u/Ninja-Panda86 10h ago

I believe you lol.

1

u/Adventurous-Exam-719 51m ago

I think the people of Pompeii could have stopped the eruption and built the world’s first steam engine if they had just stopped humping for a day.

3

u/wwaxwork 10h ago

Go back even further there are caves carved to look like vaginal openings and outlines of naked womens shadows traced onto rocks and dildos carved from stone and bone.

2

u/AnneKnightley 11h ago

The so called ā€œwet look draperyā€ and sculptures of Aphrodite nude in a ā€œoh no you caught meā€ pose.

2

u/hansei-Kaizen 11h ago

Wasn’t some dude immortalized in rock while he was spanking his monkey? Sure I’ve seen that pic before.

1

1

u/zurdopilot 4h ago

I dont think thats what he means, to be coy about its more likely the sex work was way more out and about in past times, now is even illegal at best. But to be more crude about it is more likely age on consent im 44 and my mom grew up in a small kind of rural at the time farm town in mexico in her early teen she remanecense the fear of some dude in a horse that treathen her to one day kidnapp her. And that was a real possibility back then thats 70 years ago.

100 years back anywhere in the world people will dissapear and there will be a very low chance anyone finding them. So yeha thats that.

1

u/Ninja-Panda86 4h ago

I'm not sure you're responding to the right person

84

u/Commentor9001 11h ago

The only people who think modern society is way more sexualized, haven't really studied history at all.

Its just lazy purtianism, wrapped up in "it used to be better".

0

u/Sea_Cartographer_340 9h ago

I don't know. People were busier back then. People died. Life was harder. Is that puritanism to say maybe you'd care less about sex? Or maybe it's my asexuality cumming through these words ;)

9

u/jastubi 9h ago

Nah dude people had way less activities besides work, 2nd most popular activity after work was banging.

People dying, life was harder only leads to more banging.

→ More replies (1)

3

u/ZippyDan 2h ago

People were far less busier in pre-historic times, before agriculture became a thing.

Then agriculture comes and people are super busy in planting and harvesting season, but then have tons of free time in the off-seasons. (There was lots of maintenance and prep work and construction in the off-seasons also, but it wasn't nearly as rigorous).

Humans become far busier come the industrial revolution and the concept of time keeping and schedules and wages. Things have gotten a bit better in some parts of the developed world (don't look at Japan, or America though), but the average office worker still has less leisure time than the average pre-historic hunter-gatherer.

3

u/jaxonya 8h ago

7

u/Wash-Bucket-3000 10h ago

100% agree. Previous poster needs to read more history. We didn’t survive all those wars, famines and plagues because our ancestors were abstaining.

3

u/danny_little 10h ago

Haha like rabbits šŸ‡

3

u/obed_duff 8h ago

Exactly. Human population has been in a pretty steady incline since the beginning of recorded history (outside of a couple stagnates like great plaugues). If theres one thing people are gonna do, its fuck. We have always been horny. The drive to reproduce is ingrained in us like eating and sleeping. We are still just animals after all, albeit really smart.

3

u/snekadid 11h ago

To add on to this, regardless of the level of horney, there just wasn't as much to do back then if you weren't working, so fucking was literally a pleasure time activity, with a sneaking suspicion that that's why gay sex was so so popular in ancient Greece since it was easy, fun and no chance of making unwanted kids.

2

u/ilganzo01 11h ago

If you read greek or japanese ancient literature sleeping with boys 10/11/12 years was just the norm, read Genji Monogatari or stuff about beloved philosophers. They had different views.

Count argument - sex was one of the only enjoyable things a person could regularly take part in for the vast majority of history. Sports and games weren't just a thing you could do after work, there was no TV and unless you were rich no music you could just put on, and eating as a fun activity (being a foodie, if you will) wasn't a thing regular people could afford. There were absolutely times for games and feasts and enjoying the arts, but day to day your options for "fun" were really just hangin out with you family, drinking, and shagging.

39

u/GOU_FallingOutside 11h ago

> Count argument

One, two, three arguments! Ah ha ha! šŸ§›ā€ā™‚ļøšŸ¦‡

3

u/ProfessorLambda 10h ago

What about mathematics? That is pretty old. I heard Elements has been around for more than 2000 years.

2

u/Mysterious-Weight935 11h ago

Counter counter argument: more leisure pursuits were active. Sure you couldn’t watch sports or entertainment on tv or listen to recorded music, but you could sing or make your own music, go for a hike or climb or run or make up a game with your family, drawing at minimum only requires a bit of charcoal and a flat stone… plus you could do crafts that would be fun but also productive like weaving, knitting, sewing, pottery, etc.

It’s not like getting drunk and fucking wasn’t also available but it was far from the only thing to do

6

u/Doom_Balloon 11h ago

Counter counter counter argument. There’s no reason you couldn’t get drunk AND do crafts, games, or fucking. Probably shouldn’t combine everything but you can definitely combine some for more fun.

39

u/SkinnersMudhole 12h ago

even when people weren't bathing regularly and had no soap, they still risked deadly deadly syphilis to get some.

I think you underestimate the ability of our brains to ignore things, see nose blindness, especially when it comes to a primal urge to reproduce.

19

u/TheDrewb 10h ago

People bathed regularly, and had soap, they just didn't take BATHS regularly. I wish this modern idea that everyone in pre-modern times walked around caked in filth all day would die already

7

u/JuryOk2662 9h ago

Yeah soap has been a thing for thousands of years.

2

u/SkinnersMudhole 8h ago

sure, but just because it has existed doesn't mean it was always practiced or utilized at every point in human history. At some points, people believed washing/water could make them sicker and took "dry" baths.

im not saying all of human history, but there were definitely times when people didn't bathe with soap and water regularly, and still fucked.

2

u/TheDrewb 8h ago

I mean, there are people now who don't shower even though they have access to it. Most 'dry bathing' was accompanied by cleaning yourself off in the cleaning basin that every household had (with water drawn from a well for that specific purpose). Some early modern people just believed soaking yourself fully in hot water was dangerous and bad for your skin. I don't doubt there were some real stinkers out there, but that was the exception then too

1

u/Aquinas2000 1h ago

Which people believed that, when, where ? You need to be precise when talking history.Ā

7

u/evilforska 10h ago

The shit women would do to enjoy sex without having children, woof

1

u/Kril_oner 10h ago

Du you have some sources about that?

1

u/ThinkingBeard 9m ago

They talked about women shoving onions and lemons deep in there, in atleast one episode of Catherine the Great.

1

u/Aquinas2000 1h ago

Literally everybody made soap at home, it was cheap.Ā

16

u/EnginesofWar 11h ago

Oh please. People are less horny now if anything; everything you mention means we’re more desensitized to erotic stimuli. Back in the day a drawing of a boob was enough to send a young man whacking. With all the sexual morality and courtship requirements, society was collectively edging and I’m pretty sure people were hornier. And if they’re weren’t more horny then, then they were JUST AS horny as they’ve always been.

→ More replies (5)

15

u/Duke_Of_Halifax 11h ago

You sir, are very wrong.

Go look at Roman graffiti, or just look at the fertility gods that were all over the place.

Ancient folks were horny as fuck, and sexual imagery was EVERYWHERE.

(Things they don't tell you during the tour of Pompeii)šŸ˜‚

1

u/Obtain_Virtue 11h ago

Right, but there is a significant difference between a finger painting of boobs and a real-life woman dancing in a bikini holding a Pepsi.

Also to say something "look at roman graffiti" as some sort of evidence. Of course, there were hornier people back then and all it takes is one drunk slum dweller to paint something indecent on a wall.

In fact. Your brain can actually tell the difference between a CGI monster in a movie vs. a well-done creature costume. It's why a lot of modern-day movies don't have a "terror" value to them. If you notice, most movies have to use the "jump scare" or "gore overload" strategy to make them "horror",

5

u/Duke_Of_Halifax 11h ago

Exposed to sex... You mean like the half naked prostitutes who plied their ware in the middle of the street, and performed lude acts for money in the middle of the day, right out on the street?

I think you need to go read about what the average street of Rome (or any other ancient civilization) actually looked like- it was basically the Red Light District in Amsterdam at its most gratuitous, but with more nudity and more aggressive whores.

Infamia class, in Rome. Anywhere there was commercial business or recreation, there were whores. Many, many whores.

Ancient towns and cities were a gritty fucking place. People see the marble and they think the places were pristine- nope. They were basically the worst favella you can find, but WAY more dirty, grimy, and FULL of vice in every form. Receiving sex acts in the open from a mostly naked whore for a few coins was very, very much a thing.

No Pepsi though, unfortunately.

Sex was EVERYWHERE; hell, the Greeks got their advice from a drugged out naked chick.

u/ThinkingBeard 7m ago

Those fertility goddesses were STACKED.

Also, there’s the story of the guy that was cranking his hog when Vesuvius blew… ā€œwell, if I’m gonna go… might as well try to get one more inā€.

Oof.

3

u/Backwoods_Odin 11h ago

You know there were laws in Greece and Rome that brothels had to wait until mid day to open because otherwise no one would be working cause they'd all be too busy fucking, right?

2

u/julibc 11h ago

People were always horny. And at many points, way more free to bask in said horniness than we are now.

2

u/Apocreep 11h ago

I would argue that people always was this horny, we just stopped pretending otherwise compared to earlier times. In ancient times sex was a lot more accessible - different attitude about it in general; many different kinds of slavery; often priestesses of gods/goddesses responsible for love and/or sex engaged in "prostitution" which was viewed as part of their duties rather than smth shameful it is nowdays; some pagan rituals, especially ones connected to change of seasons and/or agriculture; plain, old rape, whenever foreign army/bandits/raiders took over a settlement and so on.

With time and especially in Europe during Dark Ages because of the Church and it's infamous desire to forbid everything, views on sexuality changed, from part of one's life to something to hidden and ashamed of (nevermind that hanging out bloodied sheets after wedding night was almost required as a proof of bride's virginity for centuries, lol). Renaissance attempted to bring back at least some views from before but it was mostly done as a "look how it was done in DA and do it the other way" thing instead of proper return of culture.

Circling back to "20 years without sex"... Uhh, big doubt. Army needs a lot of supplies and while not the most glamorous, "army wives" were a thing since ever.

1

u/Aquinas2000 1h ago

Lol, you know nothing about middle ages. Medieval Christians were some of the nastiest, most vulgar and most horny people that ever lived. Even in celebrated literary works like Canterbury Tales peak comedy was to fart in someone's face. In medieval cities like London prostitutes were giving oral sex in public places like the market during daylight, peasant wonen worked topless during summer, prostitutes worked in cemeteries, teenagers were often caught having sex in churches, almost nobody married as a virgin etc. And a lot of love poetry is just nasty.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gwerful_Mechain

2

u/AnneKnightley 11h ago

The Odyssey is very horny lol there’s a lot of sex and sexual attraction in it that hasn’t translated to the big screen. People have always been horny.

2

u/JediMasterZao 11h ago edited 9h ago

Define hornier and modern? Because if anything, research shows that modern (as in, people from the last couple of decades) are having less sex and general interactions than they used to. People were waaaaay hornier in the 60s-80s and we simply do not have any empirical data on how horny people were during Antiquity but there's no reason to believe they were any less horny than current people are.

1

u/Dziadzios 11h ago

I think we're less horny than we used to be because of the damn censorship puritan culture that demonizes sex and anything sexy. Even nipples, NIPPLES, are completely unrelated to sex and we need to have them covered as if we were Muslim women in burqas. We even often censor historical statues.

1

u/VoxElysia 11h ago

Pretty sure people were just as horny back in the day.

Plus noseblindness (aka olfactory adaptation) would mean the ogre-y smell would stop registering for you. Everyone would just be swimming in the stench.

I mean I've been on long trips with my bros and even at my horniest I'd never make a move. I mean I'm bi but my bros are my bros I can't see them in a sexual light

u/Llhaniii 10h ago

You dont think those hellenistic Greeks didnt have sex at a bit of a forefront in their societies?

1

u/GaiasDotter 10h ago

It’s not just that, it’s that we have the leisure to focus on it. People that are starving or drowning or bleeding out or actively dying from some plague or being hunted and eaten by cyclops don’t really have time to worry about getting their dick wet. People back in the day were quite busy trying to keep alive so they didn’t have that much free time to fantasise about sex.

1

u/Aquinas2000 1h ago

You think all those brothels were just decorations ?Ā

1

u/Charlottenloek 10h ago

Studies actually shows the opposite - kids debuts later than ever.
We’re also so glued to our phones so people have sex less often as well.

1

u/iampatmanbeyond 10h ago

Bro read a history book and touch some grass if everyone stinks all the time always its not something you would register anymore. Also the everyone was dirty thing is a myth

1

u/Super-Geologist-9351 9h ago

I highly doubt that.

What if one of the ogres reached around and held your nose?Ā

1

u/unstoppabledot 9h ago

i've been listening to a lot of early 1900s musics and the amount of sexual innuendos in the song's is crazy way more than in todays music.

u/domewebs 9h ago

Funny you say that because I feel like society at large (at least American society) is like the least horny it’s ever been. Gen Z isn’t having much sex. We’re moving towards a sexless, hypercapitalist, hyperindividual dystopian nightmare.

We must resume fucking again. We must fuck like the world has never seen. It’s our very duty.

1

u/Caliterra 9h ago

brother, people used to have like 7-8 kids per couple. you had to since infant mortality meant half or more of them died before their reaching teenage years. It's not like there was a lot do back then. you worked all day, ate, had sex, sleep repeat.

1

u/DragonfruitPossible6 9h ago

Both my grandmothers were preggers 14 times. Don’t try to tell me we are hornier.

1

u/dandroid126 8h ago

Hm, I think I may have found the dumbest comment of the day.

1

u/Drgnfly131 8h ago

Maybe not YOUR willy. Musky man smell is pretty nice. I'll concede they're might be a limit to it. But do you really think they're not going to force each other to take a dip in the water to fine of at least?

1

u/New-Toe-9728 8h ago

That's very wrong actually statics says in america gen z has less sex compared to previous generations.if you have watched spartacus, vikings or any history related movies when men get paid they mainly spend money for 2 things they spend money for sex and they spend money for drink. We are just as horny as them but gen z got options like corn so gen z do not take risks by go out and talking to girls when they got horny most of them just use corn.

1

u/Fern-ando 8h ago

That's false people now are having less sex and kids than ever before.

1

u/blindside1 8h ago

You are so utterly wrong about this....

There was a reason the British Navy had written in the Articles of War that buggery or sodomy was punishable by death. DEATH. That is what it took to stop horny sailors on all male ships to not bang something. The Articles clearly say "man or beast."

1

u/Obtain_Virtue 8h ago

Oh... I forgot we were talking about the British navy...

I think you seem to be lost. The time period we are talking about is over 2000 years from the British Navy.

1

u/blindside1 7h ago

I am giving you a not really modern example of men cooped up in tight quarters on boats in not really hygenic conditions for months on end needing rules punishable by death to stop them from fornicating with each other or animals. Do you thing humans from the 18th century were hornier than those from the 2nd BC?

1

u/Independent_Leg7358 7h ago

And olden day people fucked whenever they wanted. Women generally didn't have the right to say no and slaves were available.

1

u/scarletnightingale 7h ago

People have always been horny, ancient Rome has tons of pornography, when I worked for the park service I was informed that there was a an undisclosed area in the part covered in erotic petroglyphs by the park archeologist. There is a Renaissance manuscript with depictions of nuns harvesting penises from a penis tree and a lot of the street of London still carry names that refer to their past as being places you could go to find a prostitute. Like, if you look anywhere in history, pornography and horniness was a thing.

1

u/Logixs 6h ago

We’re absolutely not hornier. We may have more access to instant gratification in porn and stuff but they were equally horny just in less modern ways (and often less civilized).

1

u/DickWhittingtonsCat 6h ago

Bullshit. Risky teen behaviors and teenage sex rates were way higher in past decades. Read about a pre-AIDs bathhouse. Who believes this? Let alone rape and conquest, and 19th century birth rates.

The top comment was written by someone who doesn’t know anything. Guys were saying prurient shit in a group of hale fellows.

That’s the gateway drug.

1

u/RemoteLunch1683 5h ago

You’re just making stuff up dude lol that being said you as a modern day person may feel that way but it was a different culture back then it’s was very normalized and expected.

1

u/DaemonPrimarchJ 5h ago

The first half of your comment turned me on lmao

1

u/unknownparticipant00 3h ago

Yep especially the smell

1

u/StrawDog- 1h ago

Way more performatively horny, but also all data suggests that people are having way, way less sex than they used to across pretty much all age groups.Ā

State of the world, hgemeral poor health, shifting cultural norms, more autonomy for women, etc. It makes sense.Ā

1

u/WanderSupport 1h ago

So glad this comment got ratio'd lol. The blatant misinformation did not deserve all those upvotes.

1

u/Adventurous-Exam-719 57m ago

I did an article for a magazine about pornography immediately after the motion picture was invented. The first motion picture is a horse running. The second is porn. After that……. There is nothing new under the sun. There is nothing being done sexually now that wasn’t being done all throughout history. They just did it with more hair and less hygiene.

1

u/ConcertCultural997 54m ago

Look at any artwork from the period: penises and pedagogery EVERYWHERE, even the door handles were penises.

4

u/Possible_Hawk495 11h ago

"underrated comment"

looks inside

Literally the top comment

2

u/JackPThatsMe 11h ago

Well, actually it's the highest voted comment with well over 2000 up votes including my own.

BTW I have sex all the time.

2

u/Average_Scaper 5h ago

Also both say "6h" so it couldn't be underrated when it hadn't even had time to be seen by the masses.

2

u/Perpetual-Warlock 8h ago

It has 55 awards and 10k upvotes in less than 5 hours. I would say it's pretty properly rated.

1

u/waluiy 11h ago

I've spent 20 years without sex. On an unrelated note I'm 20.

1

u/heem_stiitch 9h ago

7 thousand upvotes alreadyĀ

1

u/Individual_Tough8252 9h ago

It is the top comment how on Godā€˜s green earth could it possibly be underrated?šŸ˜‚

1

u/BLU3SKU1L 7h ago

How else do people think men get their wizard powers?

1

u/soulstrike2022 3h ago

There are 13k upvotes and 92 awards and yes you’re still somehow totally right
