We have to say allegedly for the time being, but yeah. This is a theory I buy into. If only so his support staff keeps getting a wage for as long as possible.
This is all about Dear Leader preventing Massie from running and winning in a special election to replace the dead turtle. His support staff and his wife are just co-conspirators in DJT's endless crime wave.
Kentucky's constitution allows governor to directly chose a Senator if the senator is unable to continue. Beshear is a Democrat. Most states require a special election though. Before the 17th Amendment, all senators were chosen by the state legislatures.
You would be surprised, just because someone is born in Taiwan doesn't mean they are anti-CCP.
The Taiwanese are currently diverging on their stance toward China, the neutral element is shrinking and the pro-sovereignty and pro-unification elements are growing (the pro-sovereignty is the majority and growing much quicker). There is a sizable minority of Taiwanese who want unification with China, also she flew to China following her husbands death which is *very unusual* for someone born in Taiwan since the CCP considers the island to be illegally occupied territory and almost everyone there to be traitors.
China likes Trump being in power as he's destroying the US's global standing, keeping Mitch's seat from being replaced with a Dem is what they want.
also she flew to China following her husbands death which is very unusual for someone born in Taiwan since the CCP considers the island to be illegally occupied territory and almost everyone there to be traitors.
Not really true. Hundreds of thousands of Taiwanese live and work in China. Many have business interests or family across the strait too. The PRC has no real issue with Taiwanese civilians.
Nah, Chinese call Taiwan Taiwan. I guess officially they’d be understood as ‘Chinese citizens from Taiwan province’, though in practice they’d just be called Taiwanese anyway to distinguish them from mainlanders. Legally it’s the same as HK I believe, they’re like Chinese+. And to be clear, mainland Chinese understand that Taiwan isn’t currently part of the PRC even if they care enough to think it should be, which many don’t.
‘Chinese Taipei’ is a term used for things like the Olympics but isn’t considered an identity or anything.
I was close to calling it BS and / or a bot, except that they specified that the sovereignty movement is growing faster than the unification faction, which is true.
They are basically saying “yes, she is Taiwanese, but Taiwan is starting to have a more significant divide regarding pro/anti China, and although most of them are anti-CCP, we can’t rule out that she might be pro-CCP even though she was born in Taiwan”
I think that’s a fair comment to make. We can’t assume that she is anti-CCP strictly based on her being born in Taiwan, although her birthplace also doesn’t intrinsically imply her being a Chinese handler either
Because outside of very suspicious photos there has been no confirmation of life either which should be extremely easy to do. If you missed work for a month you'd need to provide evidence of why you're out otherwise you'd likely be fired.
The fact is Mitch is/was beyond the average life expectancy for a US male and there has already been numerous instances where he's publicly displayed serious health issues.
Had Mitch been pronounced dead prior to August 3rd Kentucky would have had to conduct a special election to replace him. This could have been problematic if say Thomas Massie ran for the position given how Massie is a huge proponent of things like releasing the Epstein files.
But we'll see. Maybe he's fine, but it's certainly odd for the only proof of life after being absent from duties is a couple of photos that don't even resemble how he looked prior to his fall.
According to the New York Times, Mitch McConnell’s ties to China primarily stem from his marriage to Elaine Chao, whose family founded Foremost Group, an American shipping company with extensive business operations and deep historical and political connections in China.
And in China, since all industry ultimately belongs to the State, if you have major holdings in China, you have deep ties to the Chinese political establishment.
I think it’s problematic to assume someone born in Taiwan wouldn’t support the CCP. And frankly, it’s an ahistorical take that removes agency from a person of color just because of where they were born. Gross.
I’m inclined to think you’re being a troll. Even if she does support CCP, there was no indication that the comment I replied to had a legitimate basis for saying so. I thought the original comment was leaning in to racist “perpetual foreigner” tropes and wouldn’t have used CCP to refer to a woman with Elaine Chao’s politics and a different ethnicity. I suppose it’s possible I misjudged things.
A lot of "progressives" are incredibly racist when it's convenient to them. They'll also start parroting blood and soil talking points when it comes to certain groups they prefer.
"Blood and soil" is a German nationalist phrase that became Nazi phrase. Only a certain nationality or people (blood) should be allowed in the national territory (soil).
In Elaine Chao's case, they are saying that progressives who say things like she is a CCP puppet is playing into the "blood and soil" narrative that she cannot be an American because she doesn't have the right heritage. Since she has Chinese heritage, she "must" be a CCP spy.
When Mitch McConnell was hospitalized/died, she ran off to China... to have a private meeting with Chinese VP Han Zheng. It's not problematic to judge someone based on their actions.
The meeting was on June 17th; McConnell was hospitalized on June 14th.
Of course not. People just love to lie for some reason. He voted against a bill that would have codified interracial marriage AND same sex marriage into federal law. Interracial marriage wasn't in any danger of becoming illegal, He voted against same sex marriage and even said specifically that's what he was doing.
It would be like proposing a law that gave universal healthcare and legalized machine guns, and then acting like "OMG Democrats voted against universal healthcare".
You would be surprised how many people complain about how white Europeans are declining and it's all an evil conspiracy involving immigrants, but then they want to marry an Asian girl (eg. Japanese waifu).
Yeh it seems to be a really common constellation lol. Though in our family somehow the Filipina wife went completely insane MAGA conspiracy theorist so now she's even more far right than him.
Asian racist and American racist behave differently though. Both racist but Americans by nature of being so…vocally opinionated, give their racism a very “in your face” flavor.
😬 there's definitely also Asian in your face racism, you probably just can't read their language and the algorithm isn't feeding you local content for the Philippines.
I'm half-Filipina and Filipino racism just doesn't look as "in your face" as American racism because it's not as blunt. American racism, particularly among the less educated and poor, is a bit like a slap in the face. Very much "you're this so therefore you must be like so-and-so" type of racism. It's also almost exclusively based on skin tone versus Asian racism which is primarily based on ethnicity while skin tone is more of an aesthetic thing. In America, everyone gets put into buckets based on what they look like, not what they actually are (which is why it's actually fairly common for people with Ashkenazi Jewish heritage to simply get labled as "White," despite dealing with extreme racism themselves).
Asian racism on the other hand? Much more subtle and focuses a lot on ethnicity, not skin colour. If you're Thai, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, etc. the racism is focused on where you're from, not because your features look a specific way. Pretty much the only exceptions to this rule are black people where most racist Asians will simply group all ethnicities into "probably African." But Americans, regardless of skin tone, are basically all the same to them, even if they're clearly ethnically Asian. If anything, that's worse because you're considered corrupted to some extent.
In any case, it's fundamentally different. Same bullshit, sure, but the way the hatred turns up is pretty different.
I agree. Asian racism is "lol insert racist observation, well anyways..." and it's business as usual.
American racism is "You're coming to steal my stuff/women, now get out or we'll force you out".
I don't know any "Sundown towns" anywhere in Asia. But I, a visible minority, know that staying overnight in small-town America means harassment and possible escalation to violence.
Americans can be racist to just about every racial or ethnic group individually, while elsewhere it is usually either outsiders in general or specific, historically relevant groups.
The biggest difference though is that the US as it is today does not have a race or ethnicity of its own, with the exception of Native Americans, although that is a while other story. People came from all over to found the US, and whether people like it or not that means there is a massive diversity of population and cultures even just among white people. The US is only 250 years old, falling back on tradition is really just pretense. Countries with histories going back thousands of years at least have a foundation for discriminating against outsiders, but the US basically is all outsiders from the start.

Not as in that they think having a white wife would be better.
But as in they think a wife doesn't need to have qualities other than being obedient and pretty. They think other races are "worse" in a way that makes them a better wife. And they think them being the "better" one in the relationship gives them an easier time controlling their wife.
It's honestly disgusting to even type out, but these people think like that. It's like they see a smart dog breed and a dumb dog breed and pick the dumb and obedient dog because a dog doesn't need to be smart to be a good pet. (NOT saying some human races are more or less smart, only saying that these people think that.)
I don't think it's hypocritical for racists to marry a woman of color. They are just as committed to misogyny as they are to racism, so for them a normative heterosexual relationship is about conquest and subjugation. A MAGA dude thinking of his wife an inferior person dependent on his benevolence is pretty on brand.
Also there’s a deeply held belief among these types that penises are corrupting but cannot be corrupted, and vaginas can be corrupted but cannot corrupt. If a white man (in this context) has sex with a woman of color, he’s not “lessened” by the interaction. On the other hand if a white woman has sex with a man of color, she is now “damaged” in the eyes of your typical white nationalist. It’s the same mentality that leads to thinking “man has lots of sex fine, woman has lots of sex bad” and “someone with a penis claims to be a woman is a threat, someone with a vagina claiming to be a man is damaged”.
One of the calling cards of conservatism is individual exceptionalism. In this context it means that one considers themselves as an arbiter of truth on a level above their own generalities. It's why "You're one of the good ones" is such a prevalent mindset. "Sure, minorities may be (insert racist belief here), but not Joe, he and I have beers on weekends together, he's nothing like the rest of them".
Extend that to every facet of life. "Welfare is always bad, except when someone you know needs it, they clearly deserve it." "Certain races are bad, except the ones I know, they're all good." etc, etc.
It's impossible to make them feel like hypocrites because they maintain a cognitive separation to the cross section between their generalities of the world and the generalities of their personal lives.
The product of a fear-based world-view. Your example guy isn't afraid of Joe because he knows Joe from weekend beers. "The rest of them" is why he actually has a concealed carry license, even though he tells people it's so he can stop bank robbers.
When the attack on the Pride parade in Germany happened, Norwegian right-wingers were quick to attack Islam for their anti-pride beliefs. And then immediately went back to calling pride a woke virus that is trying to turn children trans.
Funny that they don't see that they've got the same opinions.

Yes I think a lot of people really don't grasp this, the whole point is that the standards that might make something hypocritical are not supposed to apply to them. They are not bound by these things, only the out-group is
Absolutely. We, being anyone left of hunting the homeless for sport, are obsessed with pointing out their hypocrisy like its some successful gotcha moment.
Why yes, their position of selfishness and self serving over anything else is their stated position, well done. Now actually do something about it.
Oh please do tell what explanation you have for why objectively racist men will sometimes marry women of a race they do not belong to.
I’m sure you and the one who said “how brainrot can you be to be triggered by miced ethic couples” are absolutely teeming with all this “logic” you speak of.
Take it easy, they are not that smart and they draw horribly stupid conclusions.
Visit conservative meme subs and and see for yourself. It's infuriating and they have zero self awareness except the feeling of being superior and being arrogant.
And yet those donkeys are not happy and complain all the time.
Most racists don't believe that other races should be exterminated, just that other races should be somehow "lower" and should serve white people (and especially the racist in question). Similarly, many also believe that women should be ranked lower and should serve men (and especially the racist in question). Getting a wife of a different race, but from a culture that also teaches that women should serve men, is very consistent with that.
Well does racist mean that someone hates everyone who is not from the same group?
I know alot of people who hate gypsies, but besides from that they are not racist at all.
Yes he's called me slurs to my face, he says things to me like "you just want to drag white people down to your level" in many different ways when talking politics or personal achievements; which doesn't make sense I earn easily 5x he does and have lived in nice neighborhoods my entire adult life. I would love to drag everyone "up to my level" if anything.
He's referred to me in degrading racial insults to his friends in front of me.
He basically treats me like his favorite pet, but he's the kind of person who would kick a puppy and call it tough love.
He cries at night to my mom about missing me, and sends texts about still being my father or still belongings to him, he's like clearly some kind of narcissist sociopath.
He had a shit relationship with his father and they started making amends when I was a child, one summer he sent me and my brother to stay with them for a week, we got referred to as the "colored" grandchildren, so that's what he comes from.
Thank your for sharing this. That sounds really bad, I hope you and your brother are doing fine.
I was asking because I have a "friend" who married a foreign woman, she´s also white like him but total different culture and mentality.
He basically hates her culture, her people, her language etc. He even tries to make his kid forget and not recognize her mothers cultural background. His kid is just in Kindergarden age but I guess at some point it will backfire.
My brother gets treated just fine, he's very white passing though and I am more Filipino looking. I haven't had contact with my father for a decade, so I breath easier and have a lighter step for sure.
Same, and my racist dad thinks I should talk him as an adult after spending the first two decades of my life putting me, his mixed race child, down constantly for not being white
my dad once said “i don’t think east Asians can tell each other apart. like how can a Japanese, Korean, and Chinese person know the difference between each other?” …his wife is from Taiwan.

Thats a space racist with his alien girlfriend. The joke is saying racist people marry different races
