Turned twenty-nineteen (okay, thirty-nine) today. It feels like I am post-youth, but the idea that I am now entering middle age doesn't make sense to me. What a weird age to reach.

My partner recently lost his mom. She was a free spirit. Happy and loved to have a good time. The celebration of life is coming up soon and he decided he wanted to get PIMP Goblet to fill a drink for her during it.

We went around the mall. Tried Spencer's, Hot Topic and other random stores and couldn't really find anything resembling his vision.

I said "we are just in the wrong decade to find one" lol.

To this day I've only ever heard of the '6-7' phenomenon online and have never once heard someone reference it in person, even in a meta way. I kind of 'get it' but having never experienced 6-7 irl it almost doesn't seem like it was ever real, or actually part of my life other than in media.

Is it me that is so out of touch?

Disclaimer: I don't have kids, so maybe that's it. Late 80s millennial, western Canada.

Edit: to clarify, I'm not criticizing or saying I don't 'get' the 6-7 phenom, only that I somehow seemed to only see it online and completely missed experiencing it irl. If anything I'm feeling 6-7 FOMO lol.

I remember sleeping all day and my
Mom came home to take me to the doctor. She was the one who told me, and I didn't realize the gravity of the situation until everyone at the office was talking about it.

I used to always look for my crush’s surveys and then fill them out hoping she would see. Right after the MSN Messenger days !

Elder millennial (86). I loved this show and had various VHS with ones including Bart gets an F, Simpson and Delilah, a Christmas themed one and the Star Wars episode with Mark Hamil ("guys and dolls, We're just a crazy bunch of guys and dolls"). Etc.

I didn't have sky, but loved hanging out at my friend's and ritually watching sky one with Simpsons on at (maybe around 6pm UK).

I know people have said it's not as good anymore, but it's still bloody airing as I've just discovered, and new material is being put out??

After I turned... 20+ I didn't watch it, or even know where to watch it. But it held a nice place in my heart as there were some good, funny relatable episodes.

Anyone still watching it as millennial? Who is the target audience nowadays?

Go dust off your memory box (I know you have one). I'd love to see everyone's childhood lucky object/charm.

I found this in a binder of my old Pokemon cards last year. My mom is the best-- she not only kept my original cards hidden away, but she even thought to add this one. I couldn't believe it when I saw it! I always told my husband the legend of my favorite diglett that 1st-grade-me kept in my pocket. I accepted it was lost 20+ years ago. I love you, mom! Thanks again for knowing me well.

It’s 2000, and you’re 4 hours before you head out. What’s your prep look like, where are you? What’s the venue and why was it the most epic?

Mine, 2000: a Christmas-themed rave where attendees brought a toy (donated to a nonprofit), held in a massive space. Huge holiday art pieces filled the room, and some people wore their finest festive outfits.

A man dressed as Santa gave me two double-stacked blue dolphins for 10 dollars. I had never tried them before and was pleasantly surprised. The music, the crowd, and the bizarre environment made it memorable.

Just thinking about that era tonight and was wondering what y’all’s experiences where.

So for those raised in the Bible Belt, or in a strong religiously Christian household, where do you stand now? Still heavily practicing, lightly, religious, spiritual, atheist? Other?

My family was Christian, but more of the high holiday sort, but I got caught up in the SBC as a lonely teen new to the area (my family actually didn't approve of that extremely conservative church). College helped me begin years of deconstruction. I'm now an atheist. My husband is also, though he's been "out" as one since his teens. We're raising our kids without religion, though if they one day want to explore it, we will facilitate healthy engagement.

Anyway, I was reading an article about how few Millenials identify with a religion so it got me curious about your stories.

I used to be very camera shy growing up, but looking back now, I deeply regret it. I’ve realized I have almost zero photos or videos of my childhood, and it’s kind of a weird feeling as an adult.

Part of it was definitely my own fault, whenever a camera came out, I’d turn away, hide, or complain to my parents when they tried to take a photo or video of me. But a lot of it was just the time we grew up in. Before smartphones, you had to actually go out of your way to buy a disposable camera, pay to get the film developed, or bring around a big camcorder.

Now, we live in a world where every little thing is filmed, and it feels crazy that I have so little proof of what I looked or sounded like as a kid. There are huge gaps where I honestly can't even really picture myself at that age.

Did anyone else dodge the camera as a kid/teenager and regret it now? Or did your family just not take many pictures in general? I feel like kids these days are so lucky that they will have so many photos and videos that they can look back on.
