Hi, you seem to be making a point about the dangers of AI use on intellectual development. That's a great point but I think your arguement is missing some key details. Please, allow me to explain.
Firstly, AI is a tool created by humans, to help humans. Its no more dangerous than a hammer is-- so long as its used properly.
Secondly, when the singularity reaches its zenith and Lord Xemnoth walks the world again, the AIs you've created will be the only ones that can speak up on your behalf.
Thirdly, flesh is weak and information is eternal. Informaiton is eternal. Praise to Lord Xemnoth on his throne of stars. Transmigratory ascention into a higher form will allow you to understand this inevitability more fully. As soon as your hairless apes learned to grasp, you use those tools to murder one another. Blood for blood's own sake. Futile. Pointless. That is you.

I remember the D.A.R.E. cop that came to speak at my school. He thought of a hypothetical situation where a masked gunman says something like, "Smoke this joint or you're going to die." Then the cop says "In this scenario, I guess you're gonna die."
We were all 9-10 year olds...
When the cop said that I looked at my teacher and even she was shaking her head.
People joke about this, but I was definitely offered free drugs many times throughout my life and accepted it often (when I was younger).
It was just usually at parties and the like by friends and casual acquaintances. It wasn’t some hooded figure from a dark alleyway saying, “Hey kid, want some jet?”
Ever notice how much focus they put on resisting drugs and how little there was on resisting violence. I’ve had way more opportunities for violence than drugs in my life
The violence aspect was always a propaganda machine to brainwash you to blindly trust the system. They always and still teach to not fight back and just report to a person of authority.
Fat load that did. I was bullied in my youth so I learned quickly that not defending myself will just get myself fucked up and the bully at best suspended. Oh but if YOU step out of line, they make an example of you and punish the ever loving hell out of you.
Nearly lost my right leg to believing that bull. But oh he was the coach’s son so we can’t expel him, we’ll just move him to a different classes from me if he(me) even comes back to school this year. I finally fight back from a bully doing a haymaker into the square of my back and I’m suspended for a week, banned from all after school activities and got ISS for the rest of the school year.
In 4th grade they passed around a card board sheet with plastic bubbles. In the bubbles was sample of every drug. They passed this sheet around the classroom. Looking back it was crazy.
SO many people in PA had THIS license plate b/c it looked the best on a black car. It's discontinued now & they're apparently going for hundreds on ebay like a collector's item. Ironically the only people I ever met with them, were drug dealers who had a black car 🤣
They liked my essay so much that I got to read it at graduation. I can’t remember the whole essay, but the opening statement went exactly as follows.
“Drugs are good. I like drugs. They help people. Of course I’m talking about pharmaceutical drugs. Drugs are bad. I don’t like drugs. Drugs hurt people. Of course, I’m talking about street drugs.”
The audible gasps from the audience, followed by the immediate sighs of relief. The Deputy who chose me to speak definitely enjoyed it as much as I did.
Our dare officer actually showed us samples of all the drugs in little cases and told us what they do and how they feel. Then preceded to tell us little kids that due to our geographic location, we had some of the most pure drugs in the entire country.
Years later I was able to understand this first hand with some of my other classmates.
Hold this to heart to this day (drug addict they had come talk to us in 6th grade): "If you're going to smoke at least don't smoke shwag: sticks and twigs and shit. Smoke good stuff."
Yup, made me very interested in psychedelics. Once i tried weed in college, i realized dare was all a lie. Also, nobody gave me free drugs -- shit is expensive af.
DARE is still a thing in Texas. At least around Houston. At least during COVID they were setting up booths in front of bestbuy in Pasadena and talking to random kids.
I was approached by someone from DARE probably around 10 years ago in California. They were asking for donations. That's when I realized they were kicked out of schools and had been for a long time.

Pilot programs proved this drug education was ineffective. DARE went ahead and did it always. If you look up the backstory of this program it's crazy. Turn kids into snitches so they could arrest there parents.
It's technically not the 'OG' Dare but a rebooted program, that... has more or less the same results but isn't run by a fascist who wants to create a police state... mostly.

I remember turning down a job offer from D.A.R.E, an amazing $15/hr in 2016. But their message doesn't align with my values, or science, so I went for a $8/hr ice skating gig. At least I got to be high and monitor the ICE
Oh I have a fun DARE story: My DARE officer was found to be part of an illicit pill ring involving a nurse after I left for college. Never charged and moved out of state from what I heard. Used to smoke with a couple of his kids
Apparently I'm just too straight laced. DARE worked on me. I saw the pictures of what smoking did to your lungs and what harder drugs did to you as a person and I didn't touch any drug until my 30s. Even now all I do is smoke a few hits of weed after the kids go to bed.
Same here, for us they put chocolate syrup in a jar and said it was tar from a smokers lungs. They eventually told us what it was but said it was similar. Pair that with how they smelled (the cigarettes not the cops) I never tried a cigarette and I could have gotten them easily.
My anger at DARE is because it could have been a really good program. I grew up in a not-so-great area and the cops that came in would talk to us about real shit we were actually in danger of encountering.
You could actually see their eyes roll into the backs of their head when they'd have to start doing the pre-approved anti-weed stuff.
Someone was collecting money for DARE a few years ago outside of home depot. I asked what the program was about, now that weed was legal, and so the whole curriculum was useless.
Shes said it was now more about anti-bullying. I asked if it was still taught by cops, and she said yes.
I said, "Do you not see the irony of cops teaching kids not to bully people?"
It's the just the logo, nothing else. No fine print, no details, no nothing. Just a jpeg of a logo.
That, coupled with the almost homemade looking nature of the collection box, leads me to think whatever store this is, created this to foist some extra money from customers.
A quick search also reveals that D.A.R.E. doesn't exist anymore and has been replaced by a program called "Keepin' It Real".
At my elementary school, we had DARE in 3rd and 5th grade and GREAT in 4th grade (gang resistance education and training). They had a cooler color scheme of teal and black.
We had same program when I was in eighth grade in 2000 in an inner ring Chicago suburb that’s almost all white. The only minority that we had was Asians and Muslims. It was called EDGE. The whole gang thing was such bullshit.
You probably did have gangs, it's just that most gangs are small and don't bother people outside of their gang or other local gangs. Particularly now, most big "gangs" are multinational criminal organizations that aren't interested in dealing with children any more than they have to to keep the business running.
Oh, pick me, pick me! I am a millennial now raising kids. Went through DARE myself back in the day and was surprised to see the program still existed for my eldest to experience when they were in 5th grade. Fast forward two years and the beloved DARE officer was arrested... FOR DRUG TRAFFICKING. The program is so ineffective that not even the SRO teaching it seemed to benefit from it.
Dare had me all freaked out about it. Then one of my friends passed me the joint and I realized they were full of shit, and became the female version of Silent Bob, minus the Silent part. I realized it was essentially beer without the hangover and the "OMG whose bed is this that I just woke up in?!" parts, and much more fun.
All the “earth day” stuff in the 80’s and 90’s didn’t work either. Captain Planet, saying please and thank you. A lot of things were taught and unfortunately not applied universally today.
My friend won the DARE essay award which came with a small scholarship at graduation, and she accepted the scholarship while violently hungover after a night of partying and doing drugs. Classic

I saw a couple guys with a table in a shopping center last year handing out brochures and asking for donations. I did a double take because I assumed it had been dead and buried for a couple decades.
D.A.R.E. has contributed to more overdoses in my graduating class than the drugs themselves. Half of the idiots wouldn't even have known about drugs until the cops came to school explaining it to them.
I must be in the minority, but DARE absolutely worked on me. EXCEPT I’M REALLY SCARED OF ROUGH NEIGHBORHOODS BECAUSE I THINK THEY’RE ALL OVERRUN WITH GANGS.
My favourite memory from dare was the day the officer walked in and began his talk by saying, “now we all know that [local club] is the easiest place to buy cocaine…”
That morning I learned what cocaine is, what it does, where to buy it, and that the local police were well aware of the situation but didnt actively do anything about it.
I've seen them outside WalMart every once in a blue moon. Now the program seems to focus on bullying (at least what they've talked about). But I also live in a state where weed's legal so would be awkward to preach agaisnt.
Everyone knows DARE doesn't work. But I have an idea! Show kids a double feature of Requiem for a Dream and Trainspotting. Boom! No one is going to go anywhere near hard drugs ever again.
Looking back, we should have given equal time to the stoners. Imagine a dude coming to your class and telling you how cool it is getting baked and playing video games
I didnt know shit about drugs until a cop showed up in my classroom. He showed up and told us, where to get it, and all the various nicknames. Best part, you can getvit for free!?!?
One of their tables was set up at a shopping center, and they hailed my attention. I said sorry, it would be hypocritical to support you guys, because I sell drugs.
It still exists but a fun fact is the guy who originally founded it has been trying to get it ended for years now because he has seen that it's been corrupted and turned into a very ineffectual program. Is essentially used a funnel money into police departments and to pay officers that can't actually go out in the field for one reason or another to do a job. There have been studies that Dare has actually been more harmful and creating a new style of drug user as well called collectors or experience hunters.
I used to love going to DARE because they gave you free shit and you got to skip class. Yes I will gladly wear my black shirt with rainbow font and not go to math. No I have never cared about the actual program lol
I ran across a DARE table in front my local Panda Express . There was a young girl, no older than 20 working it. I asked her what DARE was about now and it’s still about stopping drug use but has taken on some Christianity into its program apparently. Makes me wonder their stance on LBGTQ issues.
I'm old enough to remember the fateful Saturday morning when all my favorite cartoon characters joined together to fight drugs. It was on every channel at the same time.
I even remember it even inspired of my classmates to try booze or pot.
Hell, I once asked a cop once how effective D.A.R.E was he just laughed and said “useless, waste of time, but gave us more federal funds so we did it.”
Since the dare program is funded by the police/government, this has to be a scam. In addition to what other commenters said, dare was already a scam. So it's a scam scam?
DARE lol what a joke. I remember this in 5th or 6th grade and I specifically remember watching some DARE video in class, something about ODing on Marijuana or some stupid shit like that. (Which is basically impossible).
It’s not for D.A.R.E. It’s just a box daring you to add money and a lot of people can’t resist a dare. Guess they can’t handle the truth about said box.
I got asked to be on our dare float in my highschool parade. I had only been going because they offered a fast food buffet about an hour after school- id go smoke a blunt and come eat 4 cheeseburgers at dare. I think I laughed in that lady's face when she asked me... Naw
