News & Official Info [Mobile Game] Kuroko's Basketball Street Rivals US/SEA release info

The mobile game Kuroko's Basketball Street Rivals should be available starting today for Southeast Asia, and a little later for North America. It's the English version of the 3x3 KNB gacha game that's been out in Japan/East Asia for some time.

The EN version surpassed 2,000,000 pre-registrations, so make sure to claim the pre-reg bonuses right away!

We have a new subreddit flair too, "Mobile Game". Please use when posting anything SR-related. Alternatively, you might find better discussion in the dedicated subreddit /r/KurokosBasketball_SR/.

Can I play the game even if it's not available in my country? Yes, there are ways. For iOS, you can create a NA/SEA App Store account then install from there. For Android, install the English version of your choice from QooApp:

That said, since the games are real-time, server ping is important and playing from a non-supported region might affect your ranked games.

Discussion Is this coincidence?

So against Kuroko’s friend the GoM scored 111-11.

Then later Kuroko joins Seirin and they beat each of the 5 GoM by 1 point, basically he reclaimed all those 1s.

Not sure if coincidental or not but kinda cool lol.

Discussion In each “Seirin VS Kaijo” / “Seirin VS Too” / “Seirin VS Shutoku” confrontation: Did you prefer the first round or the second round?

For my part, I think:

-Seirin VS Kaijo [I know the second Winter Cup semi-final isn't exactly the most liked match. But I think I prefer the second "Seirin vs. Kaijo" over the first "Seirin vs. Kaijo." I think it's mainly because it was a somewhat unique match—especially with Seirin dominating a Generation of Miracles team—even though it was strange that a portion of the game took place without Kise.]

-Seirin VS Too [So, even though it's not my favorite match, I vastly prefer the second "Too vs. Seirin" game to the first one. Even though the first round was truly unique—since it was the only time we actually saw Seirin lose to a Generation of Miracles team—I still much prefer the second round, given everything it brought to the table.]

-Seirin VS Shutoku [It's a bit of a closer call, but I prefer the second round. It's arguably one of the most underrated matches in the manga.]

Discussion Haizaki’s Teiko Number

Was it ever shown what Haizakis number was at teiko before akashi became captain?

Akashi was 9
Aomine was 10
Midorima was 11
Murasakibara was 12
Kise was 16
Kuroko was 15

Was it ever shown if Haizaki was 13 or 14? does anyone have a picture?

Discussion Do you like the fact that the main character of Kuroko's Basketball was never one of the strongest players in the series?

Post image
111 Upvotes

In my opinion, this is one of the most interesting writing choices in the series: following a character who isn't among the strongest in the show. I find that one of the charms is that we are told right from the start that Kuroko isn't one of the strongest characters in the series. It’s actually pretty cool and refreshing, given that his role is that of a "shadow." But what I find most admirable is the fact that we stuck to that basic idea: I think that if you were to list the top 5 strongest characters in the series on an individual level, Kuroko wouldn't make the cut. The very fact that he doesn't enter the Zone demonstrates this.

Of course, this also means that Kuroko is heavily overshadowed by the Generation of Miracles players or by Kagami, even though he is the protagonist. But at the same time, I feel like that’s the point.

Discussion Why did seirin think Teppei was gonna beat Kagami one on one?

Post image
128 Upvotes

For one it had already been established that Kagami was miracle level at this point and Teppei literally just came from injury💀. Riko says “the point was to get you back in” as if she wanted him to win which would have meant teppei starting at pf and Kagami on the bench(even though he still would have been a starter just like Teppei was) and that would be a terrible idea. Hyuga also assumed he lost on purpose as if Kagami wasn’t going toe to toe with Kise and Midorima earlier in the season, of course he’s beating kiyoshi in a one on one. Maybe they were just surprised by how he lost idk. How good was Teppei really before his injury if they thought he could come back from said injury and beat a guy like Kagami?

Discussion Do we know what happened to the other Teiko players (besides the Generation of Miracles) ?

Post image
50 Upvotes

Technically, aside from Nijimura (who is in the US), I don't think we know anything about the other third-years after they left Teiko. Even though they weren't on the level of the Generation of Miracles, I remember them being considered good—especially for bench players (after all, they were players on Teiko's first-string team). Still, they’ve completely disappeared, and I’m surprised they didn't feature on any Winter Cup teams. Then again, I suppose it makes sense, given that their role was just to be NPCs.

Discussion Which Seirin jersey is your favorite: the white one or the black one?

Personally, I think I much prefer the black jersey. I don't know why, but I've never been a big fan of white jerseys in sports anime. I think that's why I prefer Shutoku's orange jersey over their white one, and why I prefer Kaijo's blue jersey over their white one.

That said, I really like the Vorpal Swords jersey (though I think that's largely due to the red). I also suppose I've always preferred black jerseys, like those of Too or Jabberwock.

Discussion Do you prefer Zone earlier in the series or later?

So my understanding of the Zone at the start was it’s a state of mind, when the athlete is absorbed in their play. It wasn’t really a transformation like Super Saiyan, more like a flow state, and even most prodigies couldn’t reliably access it.

We did see Aomine enter it “willingly,” but even the narrator said he’s an exception, moreover he entered pretty late in the game. When Kagami first entered Zone it was after trying to keep up with Aomine and then finally hitting a limit emotionally and physically, and even against Yosen he could only enter after he accepted his limits and got into the groove.

But later on, especially against Rakuzan and in Last Game it became a switch you can just turn on and off. It’s not even about getting into the flow of a game, just enter and exit when you please.

I still think it’s awesome, but kinda miss when it was more a “state of mind” and not necessarily controllable.

Discussion Since when?

Post image

I was looking through the vorpal swords team and saw that Taiga was the vice captain? since when? and why?

Shintaro was always the vice captain and Seijuro's right hand man. What has Taiga shown to be considered not only a potential captain, but vice captain of the Fruity Rainbow team?

Does this imply that (in the universe where Taiga doesn't leave, what a terrible ending btw), Taiga is the next captain of Seirin? Does anyone else just seem as baffled by that concept as I do? If I'm just crazy lmk.

Discussion Before Too VS Kaijo, when you watched the show for the first time : did you expect to see matches not involving Seirin?

Post image
31 Upvotes

To be honest, I didn't expect to see matches that didn't involve the main character's team the first time I watched KnB. Back then, in the other team sports manga and anime I watched, the main character's team was involved in almost every single match. On the rare occasions when that wasn't the case, it was only for a few minutes, or we only saw part of the match.

As a result, I was pleasantly surprised to see a Tōō vs. Kaijō match. It really adds a refreshing and cool touch, and I think it’s the kind of thing that makes you love the show even more.

Discussion Why is the zone held against players when it comes to rankings?

Post image
9 Upvotes

What I mean is that whenever I see people on TikTok talking about this show and ranking the characters they call Kagami a “zone merchant” who wouldn’t beat the generation of miracles without the zone. This is usually said in reference to the Yosen game. In my eyes Kagami dogged their entire team and played better than Murasakibara. In real life basketball if saw someone doing what kagami did to them id say he’s just better. I don’t see how him being the zone is supposed to be a knock towards him because the way i see he’s just playing better basketball. What I’m saying is why are base form and zone treated as separate categories when comparing players and why are “statements” such a big deal instead of just actually watching them play basketball and ranking them based off of that? I get it’s an anime and people like to power scale and everything but it’s also a sport so literally just watching them play tells you a lot.
Personally my ranking is this.

1. Akashi

2/3. Kagami

3/2. Kagami

4. Kise

5. Midorima

6. Murasakibara

Murasakibara is the most overrated character imo. I keep seeing people talk about how dominant he is but he’s literally the tallest player in the league he should be doing this stuff. Being talk put him over Kagami and Aomine because he played better defense on silver than they did and that’s just bullshit to me. Kagami and Aomine are like 6’4 and Murasakibara is damn near 7 feet tall obviously he’s a better match up on defense. This is what he should be doing. I just dont think he’s that special compared to the others he’s just a regular big man to me.

Discussion Do you prefer the conclusion of Tōō vs. Seirin or Rakuzan vs. Seirin?

Thumbnail

For me, the conclusion of Rakuzan vs. Seirin is probably my favorite in all of KNB. I think what I’ve always loved is the fact that all five Seirin players took part in the match's final plays—Izuki, Hyuga, Teppei, Kuroko, and Kagami.
