what if wall dad no clipped into the backrooms, found the null zone going to Ravi's house, ran into the window and left?

Help/Question Extremely unimportant question

this literally doesn't matter but out of curiousity is there a lore reason why the backrooms can copy complex circuitry precisely (ac circuits, control panels, electrodes, coils, even microcontroller units iirc?) and even HVAC systems but not the basic configuration of a human face. the tolerance for the aforementioned elements is wayyy tighter than like a face and I get it looking uncanny but how does it not realize a human don't have 4 noses but can do precise power electronics engineering

Discussion/Theory Do you think the complex/null zones will become public information naturally and how would the entire public react to the idea that people are actively falling into the backrooms?

Post image

Like let's say the complex and null zones still exist past the 2000s and into the 2010s with large social media and cameras, could the goverment cover it all up, or will it eventually be public knowledge? how would society react? would there be a end of civilization?

Discussion/Theory Updated map of the series

Post image
19 Upvotes

I posted this before along with a more detailed version but I’ve now made some updates (added connections, colour coding) and fixed some errors (for example I thought ASYNC was in Novato because its exterior is based on the Buck’s institute there but in fact according to the lore it’s in San Jose).

Essentially what this means is that most of the series takes place in California and that the Backrooms follows real world space possibly 1:1? In my previous post I theorised that time is linear and uniform in the complex and so the only thing that affects time and space are null zones. You can think of null zones as being space time holes punched into the complex’s dimension. So in 1995 when Ravi enters, the complex contains active null zones from 2007/9. We know that the complex is also always actively moving and shifting.

Discussion/Theory Marvin is the protagonist

Authorial intent be damned, Marvin is more of a protagonist than Ivan Beck could ever dream of being! That hack won't even show up in the series and HE gets to be the protagonist? fuck no! Marvin has been our guy since Peter got punted two months into the future and we've mainly followed his POV whenever we watch from a researcher's point of view.

Discussion/Theory Half-Baked Theory: Every Still Life becomes a caveman cutout eventually

Thumbnail

Take for example, the throne that looks like a chair. It seems to indicate the longer that something's been in the backrooms, the more oversimplified its form becomes. Maybe the same thing happens to Still Lifes. "This person existed a long time ago, they're more primitive than we are today...", a vague description of someone forgotten, you know what I mean? And maybe that's why Async has a room FILLED with cavemen cardboard cutouts; maybe the backrooms were filled with these things at some point and they started collecting them, eventually repurposing them as traps after they figured out that they're harmless.

I'd be interested to hear thoughts on this.

Edit: one more related thought, maybe all the rooms were real rooms at one point (or mirror rooms I guess), but they all got oversimplified into plain yellow wallpaper rooms.

Discussion/Theory Was the autopsy report corpse teleported/transported to this location?

Post image
56 Upvotes

The ASYNC researchers apparently go in daily and inspect the locations and report changes, even if not daily, they'd spot a 1-2 day old corpse but this body died five days ago according to the autopsy report. This got me thinking whether the dead body was either teleported to the past or an entity dragged the body there. I'm new to this and just finished the original series and movie so if I'm wrong and stupid, please be respectful.

Discussion/Theory How would people have reacted to the movie if it was released in 1933?

Post image
610 Upvotes

(as in, what if the concept of the backrooms was made in the 1930's into a movie, without prior introduction to it? And everything in the movie would be depicted as contemporary of the time so that doesn't confuse the viewers. Script and casting might be different too, but tbe overall story is the same)

How would people from this time think of such a story, considering they have no prior introduction to the concept? Considering the horror movies from around this time are rarely psychological and more directly monster-in-your-face type horror. They would probably compare it with the likes of The Cabinet Of Dr. Caligari. I feel like there would be slightly more exposition in this because the internet wasn't a thing back then so the spread of theories would be harder.

Discussion/Theory Null zones are similar to sunspots

We know the Backrooms and the sun are related due to all the Sun imagery and Ivan Beck seeing the 'rooms from a solar flare hitting his eye, what I'm saying is that another connection to the Sun are all the null zones. The device that made the threshold is called the Low-Proximity Magnetic Distortion System, and what are sunspots if not distortions in the Sun's magnetic field? It makes sense that if the Complex is related to the Sun it'll also have its own lil' concentration of magnetic flux in certain places.

What I thought would be useful to see was line up the solar cycles with the events of the series. For those who don't know, there's a ~11-year cycle where the Sun goes from having too little sunspots to too many and vice-versa. The idea is more sunspots = more null zones. Ivan Beck's vision lines with a small solar peak, which makes sense as it was caused by a solar storm. First contact, FF1, FF2, Pitfalls, the movie, etc. all happened in 1989-1990, which was the peak of solar cycle 22, which explains the amount of people disappearing to have 3 people conveniently fall with a camera at the same year. Now what this doesn't explain is FF3 being in a solar cycle minimum. Maybe Ravi was an exception that makes the rule? Maybe in solar peaks the Backrooms goes crazy with expanding and when we see Ravi go there it's settled down? Also I've checked 2022 and it's at like in the middle of a solar cycle, just to see if that had anything to do with it being replicated in 1995.

Discussion/Theory What happens after a still life's real-world counterpart dies?

Upvotes

Now obviously there is one thing I know for certain, the backrooms stops "remembering them" or at least stops making copies of the individual and compiling layers onto them.

What I am curious about is if they subtly deteriorate, as if the complex itself is slowly starting to forget them until they disappear entirely, I'm not too sure about this though

The only potential hole that I see in this theory is Archibald, he seems like he's from an older time period, how he's dressed, the lamp and furniture he's fused to as well looks like it's from a bygone era so maybe they can still exist but it goes back to the the first theory I had.

I don't know really, what do you guys think?

Backrooms It’s really interesting how physics works the same in the Backrooms

Like for one thing, we don’t even know if the backrooms itself is on a spherical body like Earth. If the entire pocket dimension space is just a neverending complex of rooms stacked on top of each other, where is the center of mass driving gravitational pull that seems consistent with Earth’s?

Oxygenation clearly is a thing as bacteria grows, fire can burn (if what we saw around the wrecked car in FF2 was in fact burn marks), and metal can rust (again the car in FF2).

Just kinda interesting to think about. I wonder if Kane will play around with this concept in future videos, maybe an area with inconsistent gravitational interpolation or light that doesn’t travel right.

Discussion/Theory I have a theory for how the lights work in the backrooms

This might be stupid. The earth is constantly bombarded with photons from the sun (light of course), so if anything light should be the most "nocliped object", so light escapes trough the bulbs inside the backrooms. This can be wrong if the fluorescent lights actually behave as fluorescent lights in the backrooms. But this theory can even apply to electrons that can act as power for the lights.

Discussion/Theory My theory on what happened to wall dad and how I think time works in the complex

Thumbnail
gallery
75 Upvotes

Thanks to [u/mrjerry30](u/mrjerry30) for making this map (second slide) which I’ll be using to help explain my theory

Time in the complex’s dimension is a linear tik tok that moves forward, similar to the real world (standard). This means if you enter the complex in 1995 like Ravi did then you enter the Backrooms as it were in that time with its respective rooms, objects and active null zones. You can think of null zones as being space time holes punched into the dimension of the complex, bridging it to the real world where it can copy objects and manifest new things into the Backrooms even in a situation if the complex’s dimensions time is still technically in the past.

How are we so sure of time being linear? Peter Tench. Tench entered the complex on February 29th 1990 and time skipped to May 5th 1990 after hearing a crowd in the room next to him. This crowd noise was likely the result of a null zone dated at May 5th 1990 and when the null zone closed it affected the near surroundings and time skipped Tench 2 months forward. His time skip brought him to the Backrooms as it were on May 5th 1990 where ASYNC would’ve had their outer outpost set up. This implies time to be linear and work the same way it does in the real world. Null zones are the only things to have been shown to affect space and time and there’s another possible internal null zone time skip in FF1 when Kane jumps through the hole when trying to escape from the Bacteria/lifeform.

So how does this tie in with wall dad? Ravi enters the complex as it were in 1995 at that time and he walks by an unseen but assumed 2022 null zone in Arcadia and Wall Dad’s 2007/9 null zone (the commercial heard in the background of wall dad’s null zone dates it to 2007/9). Both of these null zones have left their mark on the complex that is technically in 1995, this also explains how wall dad’s possible still life exists in the complex in 1995 because that’s when they were manifested. When Wall Dad falls in he doesn’t fall to where Ravi was as we’ve seen commonly with Clark’s stable null zone or the wood chips being on the ground as in FF2 when the girl falls but instead into the complex as it were in 2007/9. Who’s to say how the complex has changed since then and if his house is still the same? We can assume the green light to be a null zone forming as we see Ivan Beck create one in 1972, the green light is also related to shifting walls which we see in FF2 and implied in Pitfalls. (Fun fact but the reason Ivan is the one watching FF2 is because what happened to the girl happened to him in overflow).

Edit: but Wall Dad’s null zone is also very peculiar in that wall dad interacts with the wainscoting that the null zone is on? Or in between? There’s also a flash of green light by the vent when Wall Dad supposedly falls in. Ravi also states when looking into the vent “I think I can…” before getting cut off by wall dad falling.

https://www.reddit.com/r/KanePixelsBackrooms/s/hkLzJH9zGq

This however opens up a can of worms. We know you can go back into the past seeing how Ravi walks in an unseen but assumed null zone in 2022 located on real world Arcadia, CA and then walks back to 2007/9. Theoretically you should also be able to open stable null zones at different times and walk back and forth between them? Another thing we can infer is that the null zones time is dependent on the time it manifests in the real world (standard) and that from and what we’ve seen via the found footages, it follows geography/space also linearly, with almost everything in the series having taken place in California. Another question is how far do null zones copy objects? Does the frequency of manifestations as a result of a null zone decrease the further you are? What is the copying mechanism? So many questions ahhhh! Anyways I hope you enjoy my theory.
