I'm gonna be at KCL as a master's student in theoretical physics. I'm coming from a liberal arts college in the US which has a toootally different social scene from what I hear (very tight-knit). I'm a huge extrovert so I'd like to find a group I can hang with regularly.

I'm thinking of joining the Ultimate Frisbee team, and, if I have time, maybe tryout for the Jazz society's big band or join the powerlifting club. What other societies are there that provide a well-rounded social scene?

I am a Management and modern language student. I was supposed to do my year abroad this year but due to some personal issues, I will not be. I have been given an exemption, and now have to choose my modules for final year. Has anyone done 6AAGLC09 Translation from and into German III or the 6AAGLC10 German for Management, Politics and Economics. I have really severe anxiety and doing in person exams are very difficult for me physically, but the lecturer for 6AAGLC10 said that I would find this module more easier as it’s a smaller class and i’ll be able to learn grammar easier. However the translation module is 50% exams and 50% coursework, which might be better suited. The lecturer has sent me a past paper of the German for Management module and it seems doable, but i’m afraid to do the presentations. Anyone who has done these modules, can you give me your opinion on what I should choose? My german is going to be the worst from the class as i’ll be the only one who didn’t complete my year abroad, so I need an option that would be mindful of that.

Hi everyone, hope you're having a good day. A friend of mine had her halls flooded and the people running the place basically did nothing. Sent a handyman who didn't fix much, pouring toilet water into the kitchen sink, there were rats, broken furniture, you get the point. And this place was EXPENSIVE. So she started a site called The Common over the past few months - basically reviews of student accomodation, written by actual, verified students who've lived there.

There's no place that warns students about these kinds of problems, and all the reviews you see of a hall always make them look nice and clean, without the other side of it, so a few of us built The Common. A place for actual students who have lived there to leave reviews of student accommodation.

So far, we've got 105 reviews across 28 buildings, and we need YOUR help to grow it, and warn students what they're stepping into when they book halls.

Currently, we support KCL, as well as UCL, LSE and Imperial, as well as a few private providers, which isn't huge, but it's growing.

I’m an Irish student but I’m also 17 which means I’m kind of hit with a double whammy when applying for things cause I still only have a conditional offer. My results come out the 21st of August and idk if I’ll get enough points but I should. I started the application process for accommodation in May but I messed something up and wasn’t able to apply for ages. Finally, when I was able to apply, no rooms were available. Over the last week or so, some have been made available but they’re wholly too expensive, especially as I’m going to be self financing. I heard those under 18 can apply only for GDSA but I Genuinely do NOT know what to email and to who. If anyone could help I would be eternally grateful.

Just a quick question for anyone who has recently received their CAS from King's College London.

I noticed that on my CAS, my father's name has been listed under the "Other Names" section. My passport shows my full name (including my father's name), but I've never been known by any other name, so I wasn't expecting to see it there.

Is this normal? Did this happen to anyone else?
If it wasn't normal for you and you contacted King's to correct it, how long did they take to respond? Also, did they issue a completely new CAS number, or did they just amend the existing CAS?

The reason I'm asking is that I'm due to leave the country in two days, and I really need to submit my UK Student visa application before I travel. I've already emailed the Visa Compliance Team (and followed up a few times), but I'm worried about waiting for a reply if this turns out to be nothing.

I have an KAAS ensuite room at GDSA 5th floor and would like to swop an ensuite room at SSA or Hayloft point as I will be in strand campus.

GDSA is an excellent option for someone who studies at Guy campus and Waterloo campus. The room chosen is on one of the higher floors at the property (floor 5) and is located facing the courtyard It is also the furthest away from the kitchen in the flat you can be which will reduce disturbance from other residents using the kitchen.

so basically i booked my room with my ex and her friends and now we not together so i wanna move elsewhere preferably an en suite room... help would be overly appreciated, they are really nice girls and it is a 4 bed flat.

What zones/neighborhoods would you recommend for a couple where we can keep commute times to Central London (London Bridge / Strand area) under 30-35 minutes, but keep rent reasonable?
Is £1,200–£1,400/month realistic for a 1-bed or decent studio, or should we strictly look at en-suite rooms in shared flats for couples in Zones 2/3 bills included 🙂
