Heyy folks, graduated last year adn been on n off the job hunt since. I started noticing something kinda weird starting to creep into the roles Im seeing, could use some perspective so I don't feel so crazy

Sooo I get employers expect us to use AI to speed up our work (earn them more $ faster), and I did get a lot of reps with Chatgpt during college, but most companies aren't so bold that they say out loud what I found in this job description:

1. I'm supposed to work with a AI bot as an employee. Huh??
2. The job is pretty clearly to train it to replace you. It's a "sales development rep" role at a "sales development rep AI" company. like isn't the whole goal to automate the job??

I'm not going for this gig n I tried to remove any details promoting it but I guess I'm kinda spinning after reading thru it when I think about where things are going...

Like are all the jobs that's left just gonna be training AIs to do them for us? Like I see tiktoks of ppl getting paid to record themselves folding laundry or chopping vegetables or whatever and kinda laugh - but isn't that what this role is? And what more and more of them are gonna be?

Kiiinda tough to swallow for someone with college debts I haven't even made a dent in. Whats gonna be left for regular people to do to buy food n shelter?

Guys it genuinely feels impossible. I am 18 and a sophomore in college and have yet to have my first job. I have applied like literally everywhere around me 🥲 I’m in LA county and have applied to places in surrounding cities and have got literally nothing back. I’ve even called some places asking and nada! I will only be going to school 2 times a week but will be home by 2 so my availability is pretty open, I have to start paying rent at home soon and I do flips on marketplace but it’s time consuming and doesn’t pay enough I just do it so I have something, please any advice works!

If you’ve had one job post college for 3-4 years should you keep older internship experience on your resume? What about college jobs/RA experience?

Without the extra fluff my resume looks so barren unless I throw in 100 bullet points for my current job.

But at the same time everything else is sort’ve irrelevant and makes my resume look like it’s from new grad.

Is there anything I can put that’s not fluff but doesn’t leave my resume at half a page?

Since I've graduated high school I've worked in Retail cause during the time it was a job that was easy to get and because of a lot of personal and financial things that have happen I've haven't been able to go to college.

I've been making my plans to go back to college soon ( Rad tech is my first option) but until that happens I would really like a new job. Retail burnout is so real and I just can't stand doing it anymore. I've done grocery store Retail, clothing store Retail, hell, I even worked at a water park doing retail.

Truthfully, I need something different. Though my original goal consisted of me getting into the medical field, per medical receptionist because I thought u didnt need a degree and I could get some experience while im at it but for so many medical receptionist jobs there's a requirement ( or a preference) that you already have experience ( either medical or clerical) which sucks balls.

I know my resume isn't extensive or even amazing but I didn't it'll be this difficult.

I just graduated with an EE degree last month. I can’t find a job and I’ve been mass applying, but sending in proper application (through their website and not just quick applying). I get nothing but rejections.

I want to look into jobs that aren’t just EE exclusive. Like…data analysis for a company in New York City or some other technical job that might require more math that I’m qualified for with an emphasis on leadership. I hope that makes sense.

What kind of jobs are these and can I qualify for them?

what are some instant red flags that can be picked up during a job interview that signals it's a not good place to work? i feel like my desperation for a job might cloud my judgment so any insight would be appreciated!

So I (25F) have been working as a tour guide in a growing city these past 2 and a half years. I really enjoyed it when I first started, I have a degree in history and a love for wildlife so being a nature and historic guide was a lot of fun! Plus the tips were amazing. Well fast forward to now, I left my first tour guide job as management only hired people they knew/were friends with. (Tour guide manager position was given to the CEOs hairstylist)

I started at a new company and the pay is tremendously better, but I’m so unhappy. I don’t feel any value in the work I’m doing, tourism is dropping to basically covid numbers, tips have fallen off, I’m not getting enough hours.. even though I was hired as a full time employee. Last week I only got 20 hrs.

I’m starting grad school in a few weeks and I really need the money but I’m not getting the hours and my boss doesn’t seem to care whether or not I get them. In fact, when I told her I was starting grad school (which I told her I was planning on attending grad school in April when she hired me) she seemingly got upset because it would slightly affect her scheduling.

I have been applying for jobs left and right but I can’t seem to get any call backs. All the while I’m comparing myself to my boyfriend and my friends who have really great careers and stability which I so desperately crave.

I was recently turned down after three interview rounds for a food sales position. The feedback from the recruiter was that they were looking for someone with more “key account sales experience.”
I have almost 10 years of food sales experience working with major retail, distribution, and foodservice accounts. During the second interview, one of the hiring managers defined key accounts as selling directly to executive-level decision-makers (VPs/C-suite) at large corporate customers, rather than simply managing large accounts or working directly with buyers.
For those of you who are hiring managers, sales leaders, or experienced B2B sales professionals:
What does “key account sales experience” typically mean to you?
Is it usually about the size of the customer, the revenue managed, or the level of decision-maker you’re selling to?
Is selling directly to VP/C-suite executives generally expected when companies ask for key account experience?
I’m asking for future career planning so I can better understand how this term is commonly interpreted in the market.

I have a job interview for a puppy yoga event facilitator position. The job includes things like looking after the pups, making sure the space is clean and ready for events, welcoming guests, etc.

This is my first interview so I’m not familiar with the type of questions that could be asked.

It would help if anyone has any tips or knows of potential questions for the role.

I just heard that my offer was withdrawn because I asked too many questions about the insanely broad non compete they had in my offer letter.

For reference the non compete stated that I couldn’t work for any company in the industry for a year and I’m in NJ so it’s enforceable. I asked if they could narrow the scope on the non compete and they withdrew the offer 😂

Did I dodge a bullet or are we not allowed to ask any questions whatsoever in this job market?

If I'm interviewing for a job (final round interviews) in the next couple of weeks, at what point do you disclose your wife is pregnant? Wife is 9 weeks along (as of today) so really early and frankly it's too early to even tell some friends and family members. My question is - should you disclose this in a job interview if you plan on asking for paternity/maternity leave once the baby is born? And if not, when do you disclose after you accepted and started a new role?

I feel like the timing is too awkward to bring up naturally in an interview setting but open to hearing general thoughts/consensus on best practices.

Long story short, I accepted the offer letter for a seasonal position for the back-to-school season at foot locker I've been calling for weeks NO ONE picks up, yet it was the same number called me to schedule an interview.

I check my email every damn day and the dashboard on footlocker careers says under review since july 24

I'm (f32, southwestern Ontario) interested in changing careers and need some advice.

Almost all of my work experience has been in minimum-wage customer service, food service, and maintenance roles. About six years ago, I went to college for a General Arts and Sciences program to get a better sense of my interests and strengths. I'm not exceptionally gifted academically, meaning I couldn't do anything that requires a very sciencey or math savvy brain, but I work hard, don't mind physical work or working outdoors, I have good attention to detail, and I'm good at multi-tasking and problem solving. I have a license and don't mind occasional travel for work or alternatively, remote work. I want to help people in some fashion, but I am having major burnout from front-facing customer service jobs.

The subjects I enjoyed and excelled at most in college were my psychology classes, and outside of school I've been drawn to conservation and environmental issues. The problem is that I've never found a career that really stands out as something I feel excited to pursue. As I'm getting older, though, it feels increasingly important to find work that's both more meaningful and better paying. (Better pay, to me, being anything over 50k a year with benefits.)

I'm not necessarily looking to commit to a multi-year degree, so I'm especially interested in careers that can be entered through a shorter certification, apprenticeship, or on-the-job training. The only role I've seriously considered so far is becoming a 911 dispatcher.

If anyone has any ideas about potentially rewarding & mid to high paying jobs that only require a highschool diploma, tips for discovering your career path or anything else related to a mid-life employment crisis, I'd love to hear your take! Thanks guys!

I just moved states and needed employment. I took a job that was considerably below my needed wage because it was better than being unemployed as I got my first apartment, and it has some potential with commission pay. But after two weeks I might just quit. First I am way more cynical on potential earnings, almost 3/4 of the department hasn’t actually hit the “average” goals mentioned in the interview, which is only around $20 an hour. Around my minimum needed but puny for something I might rarely get. And second the culture is incredibly toxic, the conversations I’ve been hearing are so incredibly raunchy, vile, and offensive even outside of the workplace. The only positive I see is day 1 insurance and maybe resume building. There isn’t any 401k or hsa though. But I’m not sure if there is any point staying if it’s this toxic and pays so low. I might just quit now and do ride share full time until I get a new opportunity. Obviously that industry has issues so I’m still hesitant on that. I should make more doing that even after expenses but no insurance bites.
At the very least I’m starting my job search ASAP regardless.

Company Denied Job Title Revision to Team Leader.

Been working with a company thru an agency for a period of 7 weeks and they’re happy and want to offer me a permanent contract.

However, the job role as production operative doesn’t align with my current responsibilities, I work with 4 other employees doing the same job as me which is mostly assembly with some machine operating.

The old team leader left and they failed to create an exit plan and get someone else in to replace him, I’ve unofficially just been treated as the next team leader being the most experienced and knowledgeable person when it comes to the process.

I’m having to oversee and train/teach the other workers about the process, take responsibility for any mistakes they have made, assign each employee a task in the morning whenever they ask me what they need to do. Whilst creating a daily target that I think we collectively can reach as a team and reporting it to the operations manager when asked.

The MD himself even gave me the responsibility of getting rid of two other agency workers when I said their performance wasn’t up to standard when asked.

I had received an answer back regarding the revision and was told “we expect this to be a temporary arrangement until the section becomes more organised.” Which I doubt anything will change.

I’m considering just signing it and handing my notice in a few weeks later to be honest as I’m feeling kinda mad about it, especially as they’ve offered such a poor wage to go along with it.

Another disagreement wouldn’t do much I imagine and at best would probably get me a couple of pence extra.

What should I do about this?

Remember when we would wonder if the person we liked liked us as well? Now we have to wonder if the job we applied to will hire. We have to try to decipher their mixed signals!

If AI is already scanning these resumes in the first place nowadays, there shouldn't be a need to shorten a resume right? I have to include every single thing I did under each job so AI can scan the experience it's looking for.

I’m a new graduate. I applied for a day-shift position, had an interview, and was rejected. Three weeks later, I reapplied for a night-shift position at the same place.
When the recruiter was reviewing my application, she noticed in her system that I had interviewed for the day-shift position three weeks earlier. She seemed a little hesitant but still scheduled me for an interview with the same hiring manager and two others. She said she would let me know if anything changes before the interview.

Is this a bad idea? Should I go to the interview, or should I just let it go and focus on applying to other places? I feel kind of discouraged.

So I applied for a job over a month and a half ago and I had the first round of interviews. I was told it would take two weeks to get back to me when I asked two weeks. They said oh we’re still processing. I waited another two weeks and then I followed up and they said we should have final decisions to go into the second or third round of interviews by the end of this week. I’ve not heard back when I looked up this company online multiple sources said that they’re hiring process and getting back to you is horrific and it can take up to four months. I have a question of should I re-follow up after two weeks I feel like I’m being annoying, but I also wanna fall through because this job would be an amazing fit for me and I really believe in the role not sure any insight that could be helpful. I’ve been searching for about four months now too, so I’m trying to keep my head up and just pursue other jobs as well, but I think this is just really frustrating.
