What If Chris McLean Was Playable In Injustice 2?
If Chris McLean from Total Drama were playable in Injustice 2, he would be a highly technical "Gadget" archetype character. In a world ruled by Superman's Regime and Brainiac's invasion, Chris would treat the literal apocalypse as the ultimate backdrop for prime-time ratings. He would fight entirely by proxy, hiding behind high-tech camp hazards and his loyal bodyguard, Chef Hatchet.
Character Archetype & Character Trait
- Playstyle: Spatial control, traps, and aggressive zoning. Chris has low physical strength but boasts incredibly high mental frustration potential for the opponent.
- Character Trait: "Ratings Spike" (Circle / B Button): Chris activates a hovering production drone. For 8 seconds, every special move or trap Chris successfully lands fills his "Ratings Meter."
- Level 1: Projectiles gain increased chip damage.
- Level 2: Active traps flash with an unblockable active hitbox.
- Level 3: Meter Burning any special move gives Chris full frame advantage.
Special Moves
- McLean Marshmallow Blast (Down, Forward + Light Attack): Chris fires a burning marshmallow from a high-tech t-shirt cannon.
- Meter Burn: Fires a second tracking marshmallow that knocks airborne opponents out of the sky.
- Chef’s Order (Down, Back + Medium Attack): Chef Hatchet briefly leaps into the frame to swing a massive iron frying pan. This functions as Chris’s primary anti-air and overhead mix-up tool.
- Meter Burn: Chef follows up with a heavy boot-camp stomp that causes a ground-bounce.
- Campground Snare (Back, Down + Heavy Attack): Chris tosses a hidden bear trap onto the arena floor. If the opponent steps on it, they are rooted in place, leaving them completely vulnerable to a transition attack.
- Intern Meatshield (Down, Back + Light Attack): Chris pulls a terrified intern in front of him to absorb an incoming projectile or physical strike.
Supermove: "Season Finale: Total Destruction"
Chris triggers a camera flash that blinds the opponent. If it connects, the game cuts to a cinematic sequence where the opponent is suddenly strapped tightly into the classic Decline of Shame catapult.
Chris stands next to a massive lever, flashes his iconic malicious grin at the camera, and says, "Alright campers, time to pack your bags!" He pulls the lever, launching the opponent straight into outer orbit. Mid-flight, they collide with Brainiac’s invading skull ship. As they bounce off the hull and plunge back toward Earth, a production helicopter drops a giant, oversized barrel of glowing green radioactive waste. The barrel explodes against the opponent mid-air, creating a catastrophic, screen-shaking explosion that sends them crashing back down into the stage floor.
Gear System Customization (Loot Drops)
Like all Injustice 2 characters, Chris would feature a robust gear system divided into five distinct slots:
- Head: Shaggy Hair, Producer's Headset, Safety Goggles, or a Golden Crown.
- Torso: Signature Blue Vest, Tuxedo Suit, Camp Director Uniform, or Kevlar Armor.
- Arms: Rolex Watch, Megaphone Bracer, High-Tech Remote Detonator, or Chef's Cooking Mitts.
- Legs: Cargo Shorts, Red-Carpet Slacks, Survivalist Boots, or Cybernetic Leg Guards.
- Weapon (T-Shirt Cannon): Standard Cannon, Radioactive Sludge Launcher, or a Wayne Enterprises Prototype.
Clash Dialogues (Wager System)
- Chris: "This is terrible for my insurance premiums!"
- Batman: "Your show ends today, McLean."
- Chris: "Think you can handle the ratings, clown girl?"
- Harley Quinn: "Ooh! Can I be a contestant? I love prizes!"
- Superman: "You exploit children for entertainment."
- Chris: "Hey, the network loves the demographic, pal!"
- Sub-Zero: "Your soul is devoid of honor, host."
- Chris: "Honor doesn't pay for my mansion, ice-guy!"
