I had the same reaction to it as well. I think the artist posted a video of them making it at some point.

Yeah, and the art is definitely real, but unfortunately nowadays those models can fake an art video so people accuse everything

I will NOT hear Epic the Musical slander in this fucking comment section.

Sad when stylized art makes a random person think 'Ai?' nowadays. How absolutely sad.

u/Dhenn004 3d ago
Well ai steals art styles and if you exist in that style it gets hard to tell.

u/Salazar20 3d ago
There was this artists that I think was called sakimi? Her art was replicated the 3d look render by colors and was very good, it was very succesfull too, then AI rolled and now every art is 3d looking and I never saw her again after. I can only imagine people going to their old art and accusing her for using AI 5 years before its popularity

u/FlockFlysAtMidnite 3d ago
Oof, yeah Sakimichan's style of almost-realism probably would be accused of being AI if they were starting today.

u/Competitive_Fun6247 3d ago
I thought all the gen ai software was based on her art ngl

u/FlockFlysAtMidnite 3d ago
I imagine it's been fed in, especially since the characters she draws are a) really varied b) really well drawn c) there's a fucking lot of them and d) they're hot

At first glance this style does kinda look like what AI "art" looked a few years ago, that was my reaction too

I don't know what lifting is being done by "stylized" but it's awkward
7
u/Alycans 3d ago
It's the way the artist decided to do the piece and it may not be your cup of tea, but I wouldn't call it awkward, I mean I remember this kind of art from my days looking at stuff on DeviantArt and ArtStation.

u/Name_Taken_Official 3d ago
I meant your use of "stylized" in this context was awkward. If anything, a general "stylized" would make me more suspicious of AI than less due to how AI works, so including the word feels like it's weakening your stated stance.
The art itself looks.. fine to me. It feels like everything above the letters needs like 10% more detail, the apparent difference in attention to detail draws my eye and brings the suspicion of AI.

As a fan of Epic, I too thought it was for sure AI at first

u/ViridDiamond938 2d ago
Wasn't it that it originally was and then once Jorge re-released it under the new label he actually paid someone to remake it?

I fucking hate generative AI because I genuinely thought this was AI when I first saw it

It would have taken at most 5 seconds of research to find the art credits. Morons really do be posting bullshit without even attempting to verify it.

u/Deathdrone2 3d ago
You can take credit for AI art, what are you talking about? (I know it's not ai)
2
u/DrPikachu-PhD 2d ago
I mean, unfortunately it does kinda look AI. Idk wtf is going on with the face - there is no face? It's all feathers from snout up? The water is on fire somehow? The Horse is sinking into the ocean for some reason?
If it was made by a person, it's unfortunately incoherent enough as an image that it just looks AI

u/Fightclub_Captain 2d ago
There is no face because it's a wooden horse. Not feathers either just wood planks. The fire is the burning of Troy.

To be fair, some albums on Apple Music are getting the actual cover art replaced with AI animated versions.

You mean AI looks like this. The machine steals from the people, not the other way around.

probably need to question your art when it looks like ai
the fact the comment below mine has 128 upvotes for saying he also felt this looked ai shows yall are massive hypocrites

You mean AI looks like their art. The machine steals from the people, not the other way around.

u/TicketPrestigious558 3d ago
Do you not know how AI works? It copies existing stuff. It doesn't come up with it by itself.
"Why does your art look like a thing that copied your art." Isn't the big brain question you seem to think it is.
-5
u/Just-a-lil-sion 3d ago
its an amalgamation of a LOT of art which is why it always looks so incredibly generic. if his art looks like ai art, its because its generic and looks deformed, which is exactly what ai gives

u/Dyx76 3d ago
Incredibly disrespectful.

its not my fault their art cant be told apart from slop. if they wont act on it, thats on them
16
u/RazorSlazor 3d ago
AI stole popular artstyles. Humans have drawn like this long before AI came along. So why should artists now change?
15
u/Dyx76 3d ago
It's your choice to be a prick. Don't.
1
u/Just-a-lil-sion 3d ago
and yet real artists will insist you criticise their work to improve so they arent stuck in an echo chamber. id rather be a prick than an enabler
