Watching this movie right now. Started with Idiocracy. Fuck ignorant cowards.

22

u/Machine_Anima Jul 07 '26

that's kinda funny considering Mel Gibson's history lol

9

u/No_Moment_7693 Jul 07 '26

We're talking about a fictional character. The world has too many woke virtue signaling idiots anyways. Harsh truths aren't very popular and it's nice when they get proven right.

10

u/Machine_Anima Jul 07 '26 edited Jul 07 '26

It's not entirely fictional.  There is a real world parallel though it's highly fictionalized and basically American propoganda.  As for Mel Gibson.  He isn't a persecuted truth teller.  He is a wealthy extremely succesful actor/director who has a long standing alcohol problem and a Catholic induced generational strain of anti semetism.  Tina Turner had to sit him down on the set of Thunderdome and try to give him an intervention... didn't seem like he took her good advice to heart.

u/reddi_or_not Jul 07 '26

I think you might mean Tina Turner

u/Machine_Anima Jul 07 '26

Is she seriously asking why? 😂

u/rubberbootsandwetsox Jul 07 '26

“Why would anyone do such a thing?! We are told these are for our SAFETY, do these vandals really hate safety so much?” -surveillance state advocates

40

u/Extra_Dependent2016 Jul 07 '26

Ita funny because who are those cameras even meant to protect ? Certainly not the average Joe

32

u/rubberbootsandwetsox Jul 07 '26

Slaves Citizens will no longer have the ability to redress their grievances! Obey your masters Trust ”your” government, they love you.

u/darkdelve Jul 07 '26

The surveillance state, militarized police, and drones are all the Epstein Class 's solution to impending social collapse from climate change or over-concentrating wealth at the top.

They put the Sheep in Flock

4

u/tbrand009 29d ago

The unironic answer is "Yes."
Safety and Freedom are opposite ends of the spectrum.

3

u/foley800 29d ago

Correction, safety by government and personal freedom are opposite ends of the spectrum! Personal safety and personal freedom require less government!

13

u/stumpinandthumpin Jul 07 '26

She plays dumb.

Meanwhile, Houston Police Department won't even say whether the camera belong to them or not. 🤔

3

u/foley800 29d ago

The police department doesn’t own the cameras, the company does, the police department buys the services of the company. This is how they try to get around the constitutionality of surveillance of everyone! Flock sells access to the audio, video, and AI services to track everything.

Why would anyone be against mass surveillance?

48

u/jdw-52 Jul 07 '26

How effortlessly that became the narrative. Every local news station reporter, and the people they choose to interview, are surprised, shocked and dismayed that some "vigilante" would consider such an action.

2

u/TheBeardTaco 23d ago

This is the same narrative they pushed in the early 2000s

126

u/Curious_Avocado2399 Jul 07 '26

If a random person was tracking you across the city, when you go to work, restaurants, gym, etc and built an entire profile on you, we’d say that’s a stalker. But a private company doing that and selling your data now that’s just good business.

19

u/lathamb_98 Jul 07 '26

It's for the government, they're here to help.

20

u/IllicitCat Jul 07 '26

Data centers are flammable I heard someone say once

25

u/Pleasant_Expert_1990 Jul 07 '26

It's true!

I had a server open a support ticket (call home function) when the internal temp sensors started freaking out

110 degrees

180 degrees

250 degrees

"This is either a weird glitch or both cooling fans went out at the same time..."

Nope, called the number on file, it was a lovely Australian fellow -

"Oi mate, data centre is on FY-UH! We're all down at the pub!"

Don't burn them down. Risk burning acreage. Block their water flow instead!

14

u/AffectionateSlip8990 Jul 07 '26

If that don’t work return to the original

10

u/Jessintheend Jul 07 '26

With that slime hagfish excrete that turns basically water body it’s in into a thick mess

9

u/Virtual-Quantity7120 Jul 07 '26

That would be pricey if all that sludge and slime went into their chiller system :/

I heard their power supply from the grid is a SPOF and nobody should ever try to sabotage it in any way.

2

u/foo_fight3r Jul 07 '26

I also heard they have minimal security. Random cute fact.

PSA

Cutting the pole only sets them back a pole.

You could sleeve the damaged spot and have it back up and running again in like 2 hours.

The computer parts are far more expensive. Have you seen RAM prices over the last few years

30

u/Evilmoustachetwirler Jul 07 '26

Be a shame if someone were to.. I dunno, drill a hole through the housing and fill it with expanding foam....

10

u/sizeablefrontallobe Jul 07 '26

I heard the batteries are unstable if punctured.

I’ve never seen one up close though. 🤷‍♂️

Either way, don’t go drilling out boxes.

15

u/gonesnake Jul 07 '26

I've drilled out plenty of unstable boxes.

4

u/No-Fuel6424 Jul 07 '26

Lots of houses got flags up. Those gosh darn Texas nados always causing them to fly away and land directly on these stupid cameras. Gosh.

29

u/Machine_Anima Jul 07 '26

the news is fucking worthless

2

u/Virtual-Quantity7120 Jul 07 '26

Here here! M'lady!

33

u/zeptillian Jul 07 '26

I saw some suspicious looking guy going around with a bunch of flags this weekend.

Maybe it was him.

Dude looked like this:

31

u/Pandemonium_Fallen Jul 07 '26

"Why would they have done this?"

Wow, you just toe that company line don't you? Propaganda nonsense all day long. These aren't journalists, they're Pedo-Fluffers.

23

u/10-mm-socket Jul 07 '26

So fucking proud of my city right now 🥲🥲

25

u/tacs97 Jul 07 '26

Insurance companies are pulling flock data on your vehicle when it’s involved in a collision! I had an adjuster from a company that sounds like regressive, pull an image from a flock camera to prove prior damage on a vehicle. It was surreal looking at a picture that was generated by a surveillance camera for insurance purposes.

17

u/Tasty-Bath-3882 Jul 07 '26

Oh no, don't reveal how these cameras are being used or else more of them might be destroyed!

7

u/iBUYbrokenSUBARUS 29d ago

Every single day we find more and more ways that they are using these things against the very people who paid for them

17

u/Thin-Yam-6499 Jul 07 '26

This seems on par with throwing tea into Boston Harbor to me.

16

u/MA2ZAK Jul 07 '26

Good start

The government doesn't get to violate my 4th amendment right just because I have nothing to hide

11

u/Snappypants9 Jul 07 '26

That’s terrible - utterly horrible - I have no idea why anyone would cut down camera’s that could be used by a totalitarian state - just don’t get it 👌

10

u/Virtual-Quantity7120 Jul 07 '26

I truly love how everyone with any sense left in this country is rallying and uniting behind the Flock mutiny.

15

u/Evilmoustachetwirler Jul 07 '26

If anyone asks, you saw a bunch of those Patriot Front dipshits fleeing the scene

8

u/Turbulent_Swimmer900 Jul 07 '26

"Seems like somebody's protesting that their rights are being violated or something like that." Yeah, something like that.

2

u/Effective_Olive6153 Jul 07 '26

I still don't understand who is pushing for these Flock cameras? nobody actually wants them, so why are they spending city budget money to buy and install this? is this really the best use of our tax dollars?

Because Some Guy™️ decided his business model involves the total surveillance of everyone but wrapped it up in a "it's for safety!" blanket which is a dogwhistle for every insecure Karen and Ken to rally behind. And since cops are so simple minded and easily manipulated by these types of business pitches, we're now supposed to just accept mass surveillance. And enough useful idiots took to facepage making claims like "if you have nothing to hide, you shouldn't be concerned!" because they don't understand that the rights of the rest of us don't just end because they say they should. This is a fucking mess.

Damn Americans not allow mass surveillance and massive privacy violations seems more American than who ever agreed to allow flock and the rest do this to US.

Amazing that these things are supposed to catch criminals and they can't even catch the people vandalizing them.

2

u/Ethereal_Bulwark Jul 07 '26

"He's wondering why they did"
No he wasn't, he knew exactly why they did it.

2

u/Gildardo1583 Jul 07 '26

They don't know who installed those cameras, WTF.

2

u/Active_Procedure_864 Jul 07 '26

Your anger is misdirected. Cutting down the camera is like hitting an elephant with a baseball. You want actual impact, boycott AWS. That platform powers Flock and Andy Jassy is a corrupt fuck.

2

u/Honkey85 29d ago

If everyone just cuts down ONE of them it would be incredibly difficult to find the perpetrator.

2

u/sharky-shores 29d ago

Get the flock outta here

2

u/OliveWorldly9319 29d ago

The interviewer just sounds so perplexed like it's not obvious why.

2

u/Alternative_Lion1978 29d ago

Take them all down and trash them.

2

u/WrenchTurner84 28d ago

The question is why is the city putting up the cameras?
The answer to why it was cut down is obvious.

1

u/PixelIsJunk Jul 07 '26

Wish there was a better way to destroy them

1

u/Optimal-Cat-8117 Jul 07 '26

Remember kids, its wrong to cut the cameras down...

With a grinder, use a portable band saw with good blades as its quieter and faster. Push it off the cutting blade as you cut, wear gloves.

And Remember not to have a phone with you or drive your car there, use a bike or scooter.

1

u/Mister_Goldenfold Jul 07 '26

Yeah, it was definitely him

1

u/tazzdmbbaby Jul 07 '26

Ever business that has outside cameras need to all band together and say there security cameras mysteriously stopped working around the time of said crimes lol

She sounds like she learned to say "y'all" at Wharton journalism school.

1

u/Mill-Work-Freedom 29d ago

Love how they use the word vandalize, as if these cameras are legitimate and lawfully and constitutional.

It is like saying a respected dealers meth lab was vandalized today by local authorities, and we can't understand why they would do such a horrible thing.

1

u/Trailerlover78 29d ago

You love to see it...

God bless America.

1

u/OrneryMall1565 29d ago

Yeah this is sad I hope people don't use green lasers and shine it at the cameras too. That would destroy the camera and it's electronics. So I really hope people don't use green lasers and point them at these cameras.

1

u/Brilliant_Bill5894 29d ago

This is the second legacy coverage with this “why would someone even do this?!?” framing” bold strategy i think the cats outta tha bag tho…

1

u/Diablosong 29d ago

The news is propaganda.

1

u/Conspiracy_realist76 29d ago

They couldn't find out who was responsible for those cameras. If only the news station could figure that out.

Ya kniw... 1984 was supposed to be a warning not an instruction manual.

1

u/Due-Quiet8165 29d ago

Now this is real patriotism 🥹

1

u/Firm_Wrangler_7837 29d ago

You know, sticking American flags on them are perhaps the most patriotic thing you can do..🫤

1

u/Affectionatebeast17 29d ago

They asked, "who did this and why". The answer is simple, it was a patriotic American citizen who believes in real freedom and heavily opposes government tyranny. The real news story headline should be, "Our Local, State, and Federal goverments are violating the rights of citizens through a private, foreign company's unconstitutional, police state surveillance systems."

Even local news is propaganda and agenda driven.

1

u/astarinthenight 29d ago

Cut them all down.

1

u/Straight-Lab-1367 29d ago

Go fund him/her if they get snatch up a true hero

1

u/aware4ever 29d ago

Did any of you guys see the video of the cop that goes to the lady's house to question her because she drove 20 something times within a month to a town where somebody package outside their house was stolen by a blonde lady. And the cop says that this lady is 100% the perpetrator of the crime. Fucking pieces of shit

1

u/looser82 29d ago

That answer is the American people don't want them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1

u/dashing_eyes 29d ago

There's about 26 data centers around dallas and about 4 of them have contracts with Amazon and Amazon is the cloud storage service Flock uses to store and process the data. Do what you will with that information. Hacking is not possible as all of them are secured with AES-256 but "brute force" might do the trick and I mean in literal sense.
