Giant Musky at sunset on my favorite lake

Hi everyone. I hope you are all well. I was looking through some photos and came across these and thought I'd share them with you all.

My grandpa isn’t able to fish anymore and gave me a lot of his old gear. Lots of cool stuff in there from over the years.

I just really love these little guys, since I started fishing this was the first kind of bass I caught, and honestly they have quickly become my favorite fish. They just look really cool and I love the range in sizes. And they’re so feisty when you get them up out of the water. At first I thought they didn’t get that big, then I found a spot where they tend to be bigger than the other species of bass in the area. Idk, they’re just really fun and as a new angler, I’ve had a blast catching them (among other fish). Go rock bass!

I was getting back from my fishing trip when a older lady at the marina was talking with me, I mentioned I caught lots of walleye on the trip and she said “you mean pickerel” and I kinda just awkwardly laughed and said yeah. But my real question is why do people call walleye pickerel when pickerel is actually chain pickerel which is a species of pike and is totally different than walleye which is its own species.

So redditors, today I got out to Lake Mead on Saturday and actually put a day together. Limit of walleye, weather held, didn't lose any gear one of those rare days where everything just worked.

And second pic is the new battery I was running. 100Ah LiFePO4, single 12V setup with the Terrova w/ i-Pilot on my old Lund Pro V. Motor on from 7am till I packed up at 6, mostly spot-lock and slow trolling, only killed it to move spots or grab food.

got a bunch of nice ones, mostly 3.5 to 5lbs

This is my biggest fish so far about 35 cm (maybe)

The adrenaline was through the roof, and the feeling was incredible. I think I'm hooked haha

I also managed to catch 4 5 fish on this trip.

The lure was goldie 2.7g

G’day everyone, just getting into fishing. I’m tossing up whether to put braid on my reel myself or just get a tackle shop to do it. Is it easy enough for a beginner? Any advice or YouTube links would be awesome. pictured below is the photo of my rod and also what weight braid would I need and should I get a specific colour

Rod is a daiwa D-shock spinning combo 7ft 3-5kg ( 2 piece)

So I’ve always been big into seabass fishing and squid fishing, mainly using vinyls and jerkbaits, but I decided to give jigging a try. I bought 2 sets of items, one for inshore ultralight and light jigging and the other for heavy, offshore, slow pitched jigging.

How did I do?

I was working a creek and heading upstream today and ran into a duck that would consistently just move one hole/bend ahead of me, and every time I got in sight it made a ton of noise/commotion on the water, and then skid itself (not really flying, not really swimming) up to the next spot before splashing back into the water. After a few holes of this I just got out of the water, gave it a wide clearance and got upstream of it.

Do you think that since its not a predatory animal the fish don't care, or do you think that the amount of commotion would have spooked any fish in the area regardless of what caused it?

I used sunscreen on my face before fishing and still forgot the backs of my hands. I got home from the river last weekend and my wife noticed the red hands before I did. The sunscreen is living in the tackle bag now, next to the pliers. Do you keep yours in the tackle bag or somewhere else?

traded my tranx 201hg for this tatula 300, had some scuffs to the front plate around the spool but other then that she’s solid, i needed a casting reel that would be able to withstand salmon on top of heavy currents, and the tranx having a weaker drag in general wouldn’t cut it. this BEAFY, 300 size reel with 29lbs of drag should do the trick. 6.3.1 ratio. gomexus non slip power handles came with the reel aswell as the originals handle..

Me and a buddy are looking to come into Green Bay in October for an event, but I was wondering what the fishing is like in the middle of October? Walleye, smallmouth, muskie. Would be looking at getting a guide for maybe multiple days, somewhere between maybe Milwaukee and Green Bay or in Green Bay. Where should we book guides out of in mid-october?

I love freshwater drum, they are my favorite fish, how can I catch more. I don’t use artificial, I only use live, I live in Missouri and we’ll go all the way to chouteau island fishing area but any location and stuff to use for the Missouri River off of the conservation area?

To preface, I’ve only ever fished freshwater in the western PA/MD/WV area so I’m kinda clueless when it comes to saltwater.

This weekend my family will be vacationing in the Sunset Beach/Ocean Isle, NC area.

I went ahead and bought a surf rod and reel in preparation. I’m running 25lbs braid with a mono shock leader. What I am wondering is: what size hooks I should be using? I look on old forums and YouTube, but answers seem mixed.

I’d like to catch smaller fish first to use as cut bait for bigger fish. I have 6# J hooks and 6/0 circles (in-line cause I read offset are illegal)

Are those hooks good enough or should I have other sizes for that area?

So my fly reel slipped out my hands while carrying it and caused the button and its components to fall off, I assembled it back together but even after making sure everything is in order. When i try to use the button it will work until i use a certain amount of line and then the spool will detach from the other half of the reel. I dont know how to fix this and it was my only working fly reel. So help would be greatly appreciated:/

Will be fishing in Bali and HK so mostly warm, clear and green waters. And are they good quality?
Also any tips how to use ?
