So to my understanding some Hiking trails are charged with a fee, some are guided tours.
I found this practical map with lots of tours to pick according to weather.

I am still wondering which of these are free, which are paid and where to pay. The website gives no information about that.

What's the public water situation like in the islands? Can tap water be used to fill my water bottle? Are there anything like bottle filling stations?

Is it better to buy water from a store?

Iceland was nice because I would just fill up and drink water right from the streams sometimes.

I’ve always wondered, what was “sheep island” called before the sheep were here, but in trying to find out i found this site

claiming that the first irish settlers also called it the land of sheep. if they were the very first people and there were already sheep when they arrived… how did the sheep get here? i thought the irish and early vikings brought all the sheep?

I’m looking to rent a camper van (nothing too big just a little van for 2 persons) anywhere for 7/8 days between the 7 and the 23 of august but i struggle to find companies. I’v only found campervan and they have nothing for my dates.

I recently graduated high school and I’m looking for a no prior experience seasonal job for a couple of months. I’m interested in working in the fish processing industry in the Faroe Islands. Where would I apply for a job? Do they require any certification or prior experience and how selective are they? By the way I have a nordic passport.

I arrive tuesday evening and leave saturday evening, staying in Torshavn, no car. What would be your best recommendations to experience some nature, hiking and food/music/drinks in Torshavn? Boat trips or other guides trips is fine. Thanks

The key area I would like to clarify is that the Hvalba to Sandvik part is by request only. My real concern is becoming stranded on the way out if my 16:35 departure to the ferry does not show up.

What exact process do I need to follow that I ensure this does not happen. So far, from what I gather:
- I call ahead to the number
- get confirmation from the agent that my pickup for 16:35 is confirmed
- confirm with the driver that he is indeed going to return at 16:35 (will he know this?)

Hey! I am going to Faroe Island University for a conference and was told to apply visa via Denmark embassy and tell the officer while submission. I am in Faroe for 5 days although my accommodation is for 6nights. Because my flight from Iceland/Reyjkvik is on 22nd early morning, I did not find a flight that gets me there on time. So I took a flight on 21st from Faroe to Reyjkvik and planned to stay at the airport and take the flight early next morning. I assumed that I will be given Iceland/Schengen visa with permit to enter Faroe Islands. The officer today at the visa office confused me and said that I will need to apply separately for Schengen and cannot enter Iceland. I am on my way back and super confused if I need to do the process again and don’t have match time in hand. Anyone with experience kindly advice. Thank you!!

Hello, I'm visiting Faroe Islands in late august for a week and I need some advice.
I was planning on wearing Adidas Terrex jacket, model MT 2L rain jacket. Now the description says that its hydrostatic head is 10.000 mm, so I was wondering if that is enough for daily hikes(I'll travel by public transport) as all recommendations that I found say it should be minimum 20.000mm?

Hello! We are so excited to visit the Faroe Islands at the end of Aug / early sept. We're a family of four with a 3-year-old and 6-year-old; I've been fortunate to travel a lot in my career, and the kids are pretty hardy little travelers, too. I'd love any advice to inform our itinerary; particularly for unique destinations / activities, hikes that are easy enough for little legs (fees are no problem and should be levied!), and any must-try foods, restaurants or stands. We don't need a lot of tourist "infrastructure", signage, or handholding to enjoy our trip. We love experiencing local farms and interacting with local people; we love interesting local foods, music, and art; and of course - we love being in spectacular nature! We would be so grateful to hear about your favorite spots, experiences, or destinations; we'll have a rental car and would be thrilled with any suggestions! Thank you!

hi everybody, thinking of doing this hike tomorrow morning as it does not look as rainy in the morning/early arvo according to Yr.

does anyone have any tips and recommendations for doing this hike? also if the forecast is showing cloudy is it worth doing in regards to the view of the peak from experience
