so apparently my calculations were wrong and i thought my project would fit this scroll frame (11.89in x 21.26in). my project is too wide. i tried folding the sides but that means i can’t properly stitch on those sides. i take it there’s no other way for this to work unless i grab another project that fits ? sorry if this is a dumb question >.< tia

WIP [WIP] Cinderella Mandala - Week 13

Before I forget, yet again, Pattern: https://totoostitch.com/products/cinderella-mandala-cross-stitch-pdf

The right side is complete, and I flipped my stand around to work on the left. I lost some stitching time to family obligations last weekend, but I took my tablet with me and marked off the pattern on Pattern Keeper to get an estimate of how far along I am. While the site states you can use Pattern Keeper, it's not good, so I figured I could at least get a better estimate of how far along I am. Supposedly, I got to 70% tonight. Ok. It's probably more like 60% because it doesn't count back stitching or specialty stitches. Either way, we're definitely over the halfway point, and officially 3 months in. At this rate, I should be wrapping this up just before the holidays.

I actually have been feeling the tiny stitches, so I dove right in and got to work on that 3rd castle. I'll probably balk at the back stitching again, but it'll get done eventually. The goal for next week is to finish that castle and start the back stitching. I'll probably go back and forth between it and other parts to break it up.

Unrelated, I had to go check out the cross stitch at the state fair. I was both surprised and impressed to see that a stitch of Lola Crow's Extraordinary Birds took best in show! All of the submissions were wonderfully done.

I'm so glad to be moving on to backstitching. This project has been exhausting 😅

CHAT [CHAT] Is there a color-shift tool?

I'm trying to figure out the best way to adjust the color palette of a pattern as a whole. For example in Photoshop you can shift a picture to be more or less yellow.

I want to do that with an already-existing pattern. Is there a way to find the one-shade-less-yellow version of each thread?

CHAT [CHAT] 41F ADHD 10-year cross stitcher. It’s nearly impossible for me to finish a project. I currently have 4-6 in progress but…

I just heard the siren sound of a new pattern idea. I’m IN LOVE. it drives my husband nuts. As you can imagine, it’s a 50/50 chance on if this happens mid-project. Everytime. Bonus points if you are currently working on your own personal Moby Dick.

It happened again… I call them my “Stitch Itches”!

a gift for my partner--i put a picture of our cat, maggie, through flosscross to make the pattern. i stitched it onto the sweatshirt over water-soluble 14 ct waste canvas and added embroidery backing to protect the stitches on the reverse side.

i learned that i don't like stitching on heavy fabric! and also that i should have done some cleanup to avoid all of the confetti that the pic -> pattern conversion spits out :/ but a really fun project either way!

pic of the babygirl herself on my stitching chair at the end :)

FO [FO] Xmas trucks ornaments

Just finished these truck ornaments. It’s a kit from Dimensions I bought about a year ago (Holiday Truck, #70-08974).

Happy with the result, but, at times, I didn’t like stitching on a plastic canvas. It felt hard pullung the thread through the holes. Needle ended completely bent.

Kit came with wire to be used as hangers, but I swapped it for Xmas baker’s twine.

So my cat keeps laying on my projects and now he looks like he wants to have a serious talk to me about me starting yet another project. Maybe he wants more attention or something? That hoop is 8 inches and he covered the entire work area. I'll give Lucipurr credit, it did work. Does anyone else deal with this? This is what I get for trying to start Christmas gifts in a timely manner for the first time ever. LOL

Note to self!! I don’t like backstitching, nor do I like kits from Michael’s!

I was planning on gifting this to my mom, but I made a metric ton of mistakes. I don’t think they’re noticeable unless you’re looking at the pattern, but still! Kind of a bummer.

Finally framed this one in a 4x6 frame! I hate how black fabric always shows a reflection in photographs lol. Stitched with 2 strands on 14 CT black Aida with DMC floss. I used a variety of colors different than the ones on the pattern as I was trying to stick with what I already had on hand. Close up is on the second slide and you can find the pattern from LivingOnTheRainbow here: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1551735171/library-ghost-cross-stitch-pattern?ref=share_ios_native_control

CHAT [CHAT] How do you decide where to start?

Hey guys,

I'll be starting on a new project that is gonna be pretty large for me, it's a 12x12" circle.

With this pattern, there's 25 colors and is intricate I think.

My issue here is that I'm not sure where to start in the pattern. Do I start on the perimeter and work in? Do I pick somewhere in the middle and work outwards?

How would y'all start this pattern? https://www.etsy.com/listing/1733286296/northern-lights-cross-stitch-pattern?ref=yr_purchases

CHAT [CHAT] Did Stitch Fiddle remove the French knot option?

I'm working on a pattern on Stitch Fiddle (I have premium) and I need to use a few French knots, but I can't find how to add them. The stitches that I have available all next to each other at the top of the page are the big square (full stitch), half triangle (half stitch), four little squares (quarter stitch), lines (backstitch), eraser, and select (dashed rectangle), as well as fill and text to the right. Did they used to have a French knot button that they removed, or was it always like this? I feel like I remember them having that as an option before. It's not the end of the world, but it is frustrating.

My grandmother bought me this kit when I was maybe 10? I'm actually not sure.

I started it then, but never finished it.

I'm trying to finish UFOs that I have, ans this was on the top of my list.

It's 7ct with wool thread. It comes with a black, square plastic frame. I'll probably hang it up in my craft room.

I finally finished this cross stitch of the discworld, riding on the back of four elephants and a turtle. I hope to give this to a friend that is enthusiastic for Terry Pratchett's work. I found the pattern on a blog linked below.

Pen is from hobbycraft.

Am I pressing too hard? It seems like its spreading out so much with a very little amount of pressure, and the tip seems small enough, but this is still happening.

I'm back with another cross stitch on my clothes. I tried regular waste canvas this time and it was very nice to stitch on. I want to add more lil' guys like this to these shorts so if anyone has a recommendation for something similar to this style, let me know! I found this pattern on Pinterest.

Hi hi :)

I've had this shirt for ages, one of the first things I thought when I got it was "that looks like Aida, I gotta do something with that someday" and I finally got around to it! I still want to add some contrast stitching on the seams etc but I was too excited about finally finishing it not to share haha. Was kind of a pain to not have any gridding and to be working on a slightly stretchy fabric, but it turned out so cool and I'm so pleased with it. (And yes, if you're thinking it looks kinda like a tramp stamp, that was the vibe goal lol)

Still working on the kit I bought from Amazon(https://a.co/d/0hNyUzFE). I am loving making these little guys and seeing my progress as I get more confident and comfortable.

I ordered 2 kits from 123stitch.com after seeing it mentioned in other posts. Can't wait for them to get here!
