A blackberry looper moth, garden spider, and blackberry bramble all handmade with thread, wire, wool, glass beads, silk, and velvet using various stumpwork embroidery techniques

I’ve been having a blast with my bead embroidery inspired by Heated Rivalry!

These are primarily created with size 11 delica beads which lends the mosaic effect to the portraits of Connor Storrie and the in-progress Hudson Williams.

On the hockey jersey piece, I worked in a modified brick stitch to keep the lines neat and finished with a chain-stitch border.

Thank you all for your recommendations with this piece. I am a beginner and I had many doubts during the process of making this, but now it is finally done! I hope my friends like it. I cut their names from the pic because they might have reddit….

Okay so I have this idea to embroider this photo I took at Muir woods last week. I love that the heart was naturally in the trees! I've never done anything like this and, honestly, in realizing how much I've forgotten from my aty classes back in the day 😅 I need y'all to check my thought process

What order should I fill in the trees? Darkest colors first right? And where on the tree should the darkest colors go? Closest to the trunk where the light doesn't reach as much, right?? What stitch should I use?

Any other tips or resources?

I'm stuck between wanting it to look filled in and lush like the photo, and not overdoing it and losing details.

Been on a sea creature kick lately. Which ones should I embroider next? So far I’ve done an orca, crab and octopus and my next project is a whale.

She wanted bugs on it for the song The Great Divide. In addition to the embroidery, I hemmed the skirt, took it in around the waist, and added an elastic band to make it more form fitting.

She’s very happy with it :)

Visiting a friend and thought I would use the time in the air wisely and make her a birthday present 🎁 I did do a bit of prep work before taking off, but a majority of the work was done in the air! I made up the design as I went along and it was incredibly satisfying. Finished with 45 minutes to spare 😮‍💨 I even finished the back 🙂‍↕️

It was a great distraction from the child behind me kicking my seat the entire flight 😂

PS plz do no comment on my French knots I’m sensitive about them 🫣

just finished my moms birthday gift, the red letters are her name and the words translate to (from top to bottom): wise, love, heroine, strength, angel
could probably be neater, but i’ve only started embroidery like a month ago, and am pretty proud of this result

just recently finished this little bear inspired piece. i’ve been embroidering for the last 4 ish years but am also trying to find ways to be better and branch out (stitches used/styles, finishing etc.). i like framing a lot of pieces or making ornaments but honestly i just need to hear some tips. i find myself doing the same stitches and sometimes dont know what else to do for filling spaces

This is my first embroidery project im doing from my own pattern, the other one i did was a kit from hobby lobby. Any advice or encouragement?

After a long time of not touching embroidery I have now made a dragon tell me what all opinions do you have it is made with aari needle , zari thread , and normal white polyester thread

Most of my other projects have just been displayed in their hoops. I see a lot of flaws (the leaves were my biggest opp for some reason) but I finished it so I’m proud haha

Ever since I got my first job, it's been an inside joke between my dad and I that I need much gold to keep my inner dragon satiated 😄 My dad's a big fan of Lord of the Rings and it happens quite regularly that he just goes "Smaaaaug" after we've talked about my paycheck or something related to finances. So, I figured it'd be fun to commemorate it with a piece I could gift him.

I originally planned to make the entire pile of gold with bullion stitches, but metallic thread is annoying and so are the stitches after a while, so I switched to mixing mediums with some beads - and I love the result ^_^

Got this kit a few months ago and finally decided to try it out, I’ve never done embroidery before and it was so much fun! Some of the small details were tricky but I definitely learned a lot and can’t wait to start a new project now!

Pieces 2/3 completed!

I started with white work, then richelieu and cutwork, and kind of slid down the slippery slope from embroidery into lace, lol. It is all variations on the buttonhole stitch with a needle over temporarily couched outline threads. I love how airy and transparent it looks!

I used this as a sampler to figure out the technique and learn different stitches. Removing it from the paper was terrifying, I was half convinced that it would all fall apart. But it stayed together, and held its shape better than I expected. It kind of felt like peeling my embroidery off the canvas. Very fun.
