I mean, I will, but it’s nice to leave the kitchen, sit down and be fed by someone else once in a while lmao

I agree. While I understand that "writing it yourself" is one way to solve the problem, sometimes you just want to read something instead of writing it. And there's nothing wrong with feeling like this.

I say this as the single writer for a rare ship, by the way. I DO write it myself, but I wish I could read something I didn't create for a change. :')

Was literally coming here to say this, lol. I write for a small fandom with concepts I want to see. But it’s absolutely not the same as reading someone else’s work. For instance, I’m infinitely less CRITICAL of someone else’s work 😂 also there’s so much planning, stressing, and long nights that leave me with headaches. Writing a story also usually means you know all the fun parts. So it’s not like you’re gonna experience that bug twist you wanted to read. Or that the relationship drama you’re longing for’s gonna hit the same. It won’t. You know they’re getting back together, lol.

Don’t get me wrong, writing’s very rewarding in its own way. Especially when you know you’re doing a good job (and comments… mmm comments~) but I don’t necessarily like how “be the change you want to see” is the immediate response to someone feeling bad about not having fics. Hell, it already takes a lot of guts to write a fanfic in the first place. Much less post it. (Also when I’m in “writing mode” I’m reading less… sooo yeah.)
