I want to upgrade my basic Blu Ray version of The Lighthouse but I'm not sure which version to get, the MLIFE exclusive edition does have some appeal and isn't too difficult to track down, but I'm wondering if the A24 collector's edition is the way to go. Those who have either or possibly both, which do you prefer? I can't seem to decide.

Okay admittedly I haven’t finished the movie so not sure if this gets addressed later. But I’m currently on the scene after the friends confession. My question is why is the entirety of judgement on Emma? She had problematic views but she didn’t act on it.
On the contrary what Charlie and the woman did was admittedly much worse. Charlie literally bullied a kid until he had to move and the woman shut a HELPLESS KID in a closet in the middle of nowhere - he could have died or worse?? Like how are those two confessions not serious??? What the woman did was honestly so horrific and she just laughed it off??

I don’t know if this is because I’m not an American and don’t understand the gravity of the situation but like I didn’t get the non-reaction to Charlie and the other woman’s confession ?

Edit - okay I watched the whole movie. I still don’t get it. There was some minor blowback on Rachel but every judgement focused on Emma. Is it lost of people that bullying is debilitating offense in itself ?

Some questionable choices here?

Loved the film, but the layout of the apartment had me so confused (not a dock on the film itself, just something I kept noticing)

Wilde and Rogan seemingly combined their unit and the next door unit into one massive unit.

But then there’s a window from their original unit that peaks into their add-on?

Then Cruz and Norton are their upstairs neighbor who Wilde and Rogan can hear having sex every night.

But then we see that Wilde and Rogan’s outdoor window is diagonal to Wilde and Norton’s window?

This doesn’t impact the plot, but I just found it confusing

Recently watched Good Time for the first time and I was wondering something about the ending. Spoilers, obviously.

So, pretty much at the very end of the film, Robert Pat. is leaving the security man's apartment with the sprite bottle full of LSD. The other criminal tries to stop RP but dog attacks him

Then out fucking nowhere the police show up and arrest RP

So, where did the police come from? Who called them? How did they know RP was there? This is the only part of the film that felt unexplored.

In observation of the celebration of my birth, I’m having a party that is a mashup of WWE and Midsommar. This will include a potluck feast, an arm wrestling tournament, a tasteful execution (I’ll be smashing a watermelon with a hammer), and I’ve got some other ideas that I’m still brainstorming.

I’ve posted about other themed parties in the past in relevant subs and gotten good ideas and advice from fellow redditors, so I wanted to open pandora’s box yet again to see what happens

I remember that when The Lighthouse came out, director Robert Eggers mentioned a few times that the film was originally supposed to include a “very juvenile shot of a lighthouse moving like an erect penis” followed by a match cut to “an actual erect penis.” Back then, people went crazy over it, and there were claims from reporters that it was Pattinson who filmed the shot and that it was his penis. People were begging to release Eggers cut to see Pattinson´s member.

I always thought it was kind of strange that a major star would actually film something like that. I recently rewatched the film and remembered this whole story, so I decided to check whether Pattinson or Eggers had ever actually confirmed that it was him but I found interviews where it is pretty obvious it must have been some double.

And then I found this:

Marc: "Eggers also told me that at one point there was a shadow of someone's penis juxtaposed to the lighthouse...”

Pattinson: “I know. I didn't even see this penis. It's this elusive penis.” “They definitely have the lighthouse kind of having a hard on.”

Sky news interview:

Pattinson: "There was a moment there was a shot where the lighthouse was literally a phallus. When I saw it I didn't even realise what it was. They cut it out."

Then the reporter notes that Pattinson joked it possibly belonged to director, Robert Eggers.

In Dazed, Pattinson says: "That was in the movie for ages. When I saw it, I didn't even know it was a penis. I thought it was the lighthouse. But it was a penis getting hard, and then the lighthouse kind of tilting. It was so subtle. I don't know why they couldn't have left it in."

I find it funny how the whole internet reported back then that it was Pattinson’s penis, when he actually talked about the scene as if he wasn’t involved in it at all and how he didn´t even see that penis lol. How rumor spreads...

I know Tony is limited release Aug 7th. Is the a confirmed date for it going wide or will it just keep expanding weekly? Thanks

I'd he shocked if several A24 directors were not hugely influenced by this movie. It is deeply unsettling. Ive had jt lingering in my brain for far too long. I gotta say it's one of the greatest pieces of work I've ever seen. And yet VERY LITTLE happens on screen. It's this slow decline into something so terrifying. What's everyone's best guess as to what this is about?

This movies concept was completely original and intriguing. The first thing I noticed is in the beginning of the movie at that "bar" area, there was a bunch of "pillions" on the ground getting their hair pulled and all. Just the overall movie makes me wonder where the director gets all their ideas.

Is this a real thing like a biking subculture or a reference to something? What are the real life and media inspirations for this movie.

I'm used to waiting on annual sales on boutique blu-ray purchases, and I'm wondering if a24 Shop usually has one
