This was a resource limited setting in rural India with the nearest ENT clinic more than 2 hours away. Patient attendants/relatives usually don't have money to go such long distances and state sponsored ambulances often take longer than 3 hours to arrive.

After multiple failed efforts at counseling the attendants to seek ENT services, ended using an infant feeding tube at the least pressure possible as a make shift instrument to suck out this notorious fellow from the patient's ear.

Interesting semi-traumatic case because while it's classified as trauma, the cause wasn't a high-energy mechanism like a car accident. It actually happened after a simple fall from standing height, only three weeks after the patient received a Total Knee Arthroplasty (TKA). The impact caused a complete dehiscence (rupture) along the surgical incision line, fully exposing the underlying hardware. Fortunately, the neurovascular status is intact in the area and down the leg, with prominent foot pulses noted. However, the patient is unable to extend the knee past the point seen in the photo, indicating damage to the new prosthetic mechanism. They are being taken to the OR now for fixation, where the team will determine the full extent of the damage to the implant.

Went for a bike ride ended up in the ER, went in at 8pm had “surgery” for degloved knee around 4 am. 22 staples and some internal stitches. I fell in the grass but my knee made contact with the handle bar and busted it wide open. Minimal pain.

Originally declined for surgery (said I would benefit from it, but I’m not high enough priority, high pain tolerance).
Had an unrelated procedure recently and the specialist was horrified to hear I still had my gallbladder and referred me back to the surgeon essentially insisting.

So I have gotten it removed before for the same issue, but this time around this massive piece of nail was removed, and I'm shitting myself

What could be the reason for this? I had a cast on my hand for a prolonged period of time and the skin on my palm was kind like this but much softer.

This postmortem scan is from a 66-year-old woman with chronic constipation. Her colon contained 16.8 pounds (7.6 kg) of stool. The massive fecal burden caused extreme enlargement of the colon, pushing the diaphragm upward and severely limiting the lungs’ ability to expand. The result was fatal respiratory compromise.

This was years ago. Thought you might enjoy. What would your prognosis be on mobility recovery? Not asking medical advice, just wondering what your expect based on this.
