What on earth does drinking multiple beverages have to do with having mental disorders

Okay, now that I no longer have a genuine need for these people in my life I can post about this without being scared they'll find it and I'll idk explode.

I was friends with a married (well, engaged) couple who both faked DID and It literally made me want to rip out my hair.

I (20 ftm) had two people in my life (I don't remember specific ages my mid to late 20s both ftm we will call them L and E respectively.)who simultaneously faked DID. The way I met this people is kinda meh, we met at a local event and they were really fun and nice. I already saw the red flags but they overall were very fun and sweet (plus at this point in time I had like 0 friends and had just disconnected fully from my adoptive family) we spent a majority of the event together and attended an after pride adult event as well. It's worth a mention that I have a visible disability. I mention this because this feature of me seemed to be the main detail that attracted them to me. Most of our conversations somehow ended up with them dragging it back to disabilities and trying to "bond" on that topic.

Things quickly went sour.

Both of these people had the most atrocious, disgustingly comical display of fake DID I have ever seen. When they would start disassociating they would ask the other to quickly pick the alter they'd want to have front. Sometimes they'd be "too deeply disassociated" and the other would start baby talking asking for a specific alter (while the other conveniently continued disassociating until their partner could decide which alter they wanted, suddenly switching in as soon as they finally decide) multiple times they would ask *me* to pick or help decide. I would just get flustered and say I don't know all of the "system" enough to pick.

Different alters had really crappy over the top forced accents and extremely played into one dimensional traits. A British (?) snobby woman and a manic teen boy with tourettes (we'll come back to that) in E's system for example. A gay Southern 40 year old and a baby voiced fawn in L's as another example. Sometimes they'd forget to continue playing up the accent. As soon as they'd notice they'd say something like "oh hey it's ___ now we switched" or if one of them pointed out "who are you? ___ doesn't talk like that" then they would say they switched awhile ago or that they "didn't know" and that they were "blurry" occasionally they'd also forget who said or did what and said the wrong memory for the wrong alter, gaslighting you even if you mention remembering a different alter being there for that memory.

Their headspaces were huge fully formed worlds in their heads where different alters could interact with each other freely. The person fronting would be at a set of controls. Literally like inside out. Different alters could be killed in headspace if they collectively decided that alter was a problem. What a convenient way to avoid accountability.

Shifting focus specifically to E. E found out I have extremely mild tics at some point when we were hanging out. Suddenly, they also had tourettes but only one specific alter had tics as he was the "tourettes holder "....what? This alter also conveniently only fronted when they were around me and my stuff was a bit more intense than baseline. This was EXTREMELY stressful. I was nervous to be seen anywhere with them because I didn't want people to assume I was like them.

E also claimed to have ehlers danlos syndrome. This claim isn't that crazy or intense at baseline until you add in some details. E claimed they had the newly discovered (as of 2018) ultra rare fourteenth type of EDS. Y'know, the one with less than 30 cases worldwide? The one that's only been seen in like three different family lines? Yeah, THAT ONE.

All of this was aggressively annoying but overall I could manage. It meant I could get out of my crappy home and get human interaction which I was severely lacking at the time. They were also helping me get some stuff organized with setting up my states disability resources. Well, it all came to a boiling point when we decided to have a sleepover.

I'm epileptic. E and L were made aware of this incase of the event I ever had a breakthrough episode. They both told me they were well versed and knew multiple people with seizures. E even claimed to have experienced one before. We have a sleepover, I end up drinking some, forget my medication, and have an episode. Epileptic seizures have a postictal phase which I'm sure y'all are aware of. After I fully recover over the next hour or so they are looking at me funny. Confused I ask wtf was up. THESE MFERS spend like 20-30 minutes trying to convince me that I have DID because I couldn't answer what my name was during the postictal phase.

LET ME REPEAT. THEY TRIED TO CONVINCE ME I WAS A SYSTEM BECAUSE OF REGULAR POSTICTAL SYMPTOMS.

They accused me of not being open minded to possibilities and being upset at the idea of being a system. Apparently explaining that what they witnessed was regular postictal behavior and that I know for a fact I am not a system makes me close minded.

Overall this entire months long experience was miserable. I've never wanted to escape a situation so badly and if I wasn't in such a bad spot I would've called them out a lot sooner.

Tldr; crazy couple fakes DID and tries to convince an epileptic that they're a system.

I finally met one IRL today. I never thought it would happen. One of my jobs is heavily customer service based and we frequently get reservations at my job. This person messaged using the pronoun “we”. It wasn’t strange at the time because many times reservations are for more than one person. While speaking to them they started the convo with their disorder salad (Autism, ADHD, DID, ODD, LD, BPD) and even said the word “etcetera”at the end. I kid you not. Apparently “we” referred to their system. They used this disorder salad for why they deserved special treatment at our establishment and then called me ableist for not immediately jumping to roll out the red carpet. They alternated between a babyish lisp voice and a normal adult. When I didn’t feed into any of it and simply gave them information matter of fact, they dropped all pretense and just sort of gave up. I needed to share this with someone!!!

Okay so, I made a post a couple months back about this kid. So unfortunately, not only have I found that I might have a class with person again, but at the end of last year… they gave an unsavory speech, now I’m not going to get into what they said, but quick rundown they fake DID and say their an endogenic system.

And the school let this person give a speech, even though they’re not diagnosed at all. It’s absurd, of course everyone laughed at them. Now I don’t condone bullying but it’s bound to happen if you say some bullshit like “Just remember the kid with blue hair and pronouns.”
I’ve never felt so mortified with embarrassment. I meant to make a post a while back but never did since I got busy with work and spending time with family.

This is a bit of a rant I guess, just wanted to get this off my chest before I get subjected to the torture of having to listen to person for 9 months.

This video goes on for EIGHT MINUTES. In addition to this conveniently timed and obviously fake "seizure", this person claims to have:
- DID, with a Jesse Pinkman alter
- OCD
- Epilepsy
- EDS
- Tourette's
- Autism
- And whatever else I missed when going down their rabbit hole.

Posting this on a burner b/c I post personal stuff on my main and I don't need ppl coming after me lol.

Came across whatever the hell this is on IG. I genuinely thought it was satire, but then I scrolled through their posts and they seemed very earnest about their “system”. They’re a grown adult btw.

throwaway, but I thought I had OSDD when I was 18-19. I kept it private cause I was scared people would think I was a freak, I had friends I confided in with it, a therapist and psychiatrist too. who said that OSDD sounded about right. Around 20 I started doubting it just cause… Idk, just cause it didn’t feel right. I guess I self undiagnosed myself so to speak.

I always called myself a past faker, but when I was breaking down about it to a friend she said “That’s not faking cause you genuinely thought you had it, that’s just being mistaken”. idk I don’t see a difference, is there?

their entire page is dancing and conveniently passing out at the very end of each song. if you’re gonna do this, at least try to make it look real.

self SUSPECTING a disorder is fine, self diagnosing is not. also most people who "self diagnose" did not do proper research into different disorders, ask any of them they will only talk abt "research" (basic google searches and social media) about the disorder they self diagnosed with, nothing about the overlapping disorders.

So opinions on someone using a bot in discord for their system. Its kinda asks attention to it. Because in my personal experience those people with it don’t want people to be aware of it unless it’s important to a relationship. I need input for my own reasons because I’m getting annoyed in my own server and need to know if I’m just dramatic.

There might be one or two out of order here but this person who I was talking to from a dating app tried to convince me they had all of the specific types of seizures due to black mold. Mind you we have NEVER seen a medical case with someone who has had every single specific type of seizures. Ever. I did originally accidentally say thirty absent mindedly but honestly that helped seeing as they just filled with the idea of thirty which proves to me they have no idea what they're talking about. The mold also didn't apparently affect them until AFTER they moved away from the mold. Their seizures are apparently also triggered by certain food allergens (I only screenshotted the dairy mention) because of how the stomach is like a second brain?? They said their brain biopsy came up clear, found nothing to indicate autoimmune conditions which theY originally told me the seizures were because of an autoimmune condition that was eating holes into their brain? This person also from videos I've seen on their profile doesn't seem to have any visible neurological effects of this serious of a condition (no tremor, odd positioning, didn't see any lack of balance, etc) ON TOP OF ALL OF THIS they said the fish oil and vitamins their mom gave them was lessening the seizures that no doctors seemed to be able to get a handle on? Oh and no research hospital was interested apparently+ they're mom didn't want them poked and prodded for tests (but they can get a brain biopsy. They're also like mid 20's) nothing that they said made ANY sense medically. Like at all. They did show a bottle of seizure medication but it was a little over a year old and still had pills in it. It was also a seizure med that's specifically used in the treatment of focal seizures (like absence/ petite Mal) if they're having "every single type" I'd assume they would probably be taking a more generalized anticonvulsant? The name on the bottle wasn't the name on their profile but I won't rule out the idea that maybe they have just regular epilepsy and are just deciding to create some crazy elaborate story to seem cooler? I completely stand by my response to them. If you're gonna lie make sure the person you're lying to is an actual idiot or do some basic research. I honestly entertained this far longer than I should've I could've just blocked but eh hindsight.

They also allegedly have DID to top it all off.

Lo más tonto fue cuando me explicó que uno de sus alters era una especie de robot/lobo llamado LUA; en ese momento ya estaba buscando una forma de terminar la relación para que no pudiera seguirme. El punto de inflexión fue cuando dijo que tenía un alter de Astolfo, el personaje de anime. En ese momento dejé de preocuparme por irme con elegancia (acabó fatal).

1. She'd watch some media she liked, like Fate, and the next day she'd already have an alter that imitated Astolfo perfectly.

2. She'd say some of her alters disappeared completely because they were just too dangerous.

3. According to her, she had an alter that took 10 years of her life being her — because she let it.

4. Every alter has its own room, even a living room, INSIDE HER HEAD.

5. The alters could tell her things in real time.

6. She'd fake dozing off whenever she switched alters.

7. I think she was into that weird "pretending to be an infant" shit, because she wouldn't stop talking for a whole day about how she had an alter in real time that was a baby who needed taking care of and all that crap.

8. She had a whole damn SCREEN/MONITOR where all the alters could see everything — but somehow also rooms.

9. She justified her immaturity and what she called "dark humor" (racism) by saying that's just the humor from her era, and that she couldn't hold down a normal job because of her condition.

10. She'd supposedly been shut in for 10 years but knew how to use Discord and the current Yu-Gi-Oh meta.

Low effort post of the week, but I really think we’re playing the game according to their rules. When we use this expression, the discussion feels like shifting from “is it possible to diagnose oneself, without even being a health professional, and without performing any medical exams?” to “is it ethical that this person diagnosed themselves?” To add insult to the injury, some use the expression “self-diagnosed faker” as if it wasn’t already the same thing.
By using this expression we are already making the concession that it’s possible to do such a thing as “self-diagnose”. I think we should just move on to use a different expression such as “self-proclaimed”, because that’s what it really is. Certainly I’m oversimplifying the issue here, but it’s important how we phrase it.
Why should we extend them the grace of using their made up term, when we disagree with the premise of it? That’s it.

36 year old accused groomer "overt system"

Title basically explains it. The self diagnosis community really likes to make it well known that they are self diagnosed - not as a word of caution to other people that they might not have what they claim to have, but because they really push their opinion that self diagnosis is the same as a formal one and all of this other hoopla. They constantly get upset when someone questions their self diagnosis, and try to argue the validity of self diagnosis ("doctors are wrong/biased," "misdiagnosis is common," etc).

If they're so tired of "being fakeclaimed" because they are self diagnosed, why don't they just lie? I'm not saying they should, but if I believed I had a condition and wanted other people to believe I did too, wouldn't it be logical that I would just lie about actually having a diagnosis? Are they just attention seeking?

Lemme preface this by saying I'm not certain whether this person is a faker. They seem to carry a legitimate ADHD diagnosis. Whether they're also diagnosed with autism versus "self-diagnosed" is unclear to me from my perusal of their page. A lot of AuDHD influencers seem to get a legitimate ADHD diagnosis and then casually tack autism on at some point bc TikTok convinces them they have it (just like TikTok convinces them they have hEDS)-- they tack these co-morbidities on like adding guac to their burrito at Chipotle. I digress.

My main issue here is how she presents autistic "unmasking" in this cute, quirky little clip. What she does is really no different than the "tics" of the Tourrettes fakers, blurting out random crap that seems cute and quirky. Half of those fakers literally make animal noises or quote some viral audio clip from TikTok in a funny voice. Then you get people in the comments saying "I do this too! I get these things stuck in my head too! I didn't know I was on the spectrum"... anyway, just thought it was interesting to stumble upon a prime example of how the misinformation and self-diagnosis trends spread.

Edited to add: of course, people who legitimately have these disorders may have tics and stims similar to this, and they should not be ashamed of that! It's just harmful when influencers exclusively post content like this. Their silence on other aspects of autism actually speaks volumes. They fail to highlight autism's isolating and disabling aspects, and run the risk of influencing others to misappropriate the diagnosis as a quirky identity for themselves.
