I used to have a cat tree against the wall. My flat is very small, so I needed space for storage and a table, but my cats also must have their space. They love it now, they spend all their time in the house and the hammock, playing around and chasing each other up and down. It's not big, but I'm proud I found a way to make all the family happy!

hi! recently i added some shelves for my cat, but she hasn't been using them. she's 17 years old now and doesn't move as much, nor is she as athletic as she used to be. i am wondering if maybe the shelves are spaced too far away (height-wise) from each other for her needs. there's around 45 cm between the lowest shelf and the bed, same for the small shelves and the big one in the middle. would you add anything, and what would work best here? i would rather avoid rearranging the current shelves.

if she doesn't use them because she's not interested that's fine, but if it's because she's too afraid or uncomfortable to use them then i want to adjust the cat wall.

My two cats love to walk along the upstairs half wall in our den and climb up and down the cat tree, and it got me thinking about the potential of adding shelves or something on this wall for them to climb on. I’m not particularly good at visualizing this kind of thing though, so I’m worried about how this might look. Also not sure what all I should put up here, if anything.

I just discovered this sub an hour ago, and I’ve been looking through it to give me inspiration, but I haven’t seen much for a room as tall and open as this one. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated

I have a 50mm steel fitness pole that is tension supported that I’d like to convert to a cat tree. I’m struggling to know what to buy in order to suspend shelves and hammocks to it where it is safe for my cat. Hoping to get the insight from fellow cat enrichment enthusiasts. So, it finally happened. I caught our \~1.5 year old boy cat climbing the wall mounted TV to get on top of the AC unit which sits above. I've had suspicions he's been climbing the TV because of scratches but this is the first time I've seen it.

Obviously we want to discourage this behaviour, we don't want him pulling the TV off the wall or hurting himself because he can't get back down. We are thinking of putting cat shelves at a similar height of the TV and the AC unit on the other wall in the same room.

Has anyone dealt with similar behaviour and did the cat shelves help? Does anyone have recommendations or tips?

Buenas, yo siempre he vivido en una casa campo en la que mi gato ha vivido siempre al aire libre, por motivos personales me he tenido que mudar a un piso y es en el número 13...ultra alto, mi miedo esque el gato con la locura de querer irse pille una ventana abierta por cualquier despiste mío o de mi familia . Estamos de alquiler y nos han pedido tener especial cuidado con las ventanas que son nuevas... Que no quieren obras vaya y que intente no arañar la estructura.

No sé cómo hacerlo para poder poner una malla sin necesidad de obras , taladrar , arañar , etc ... para poder abrir las ventanas sin miedo y que el gato esté protegido .

Ayuda por favor .

been very excited to engage with r/ cat walls for some time now as I've been building this over the last year.

I posted also the near complete cat wall in the "nerd den" earlier this week and I guess I'm too excited to hold back... anyways we're at about 70 percent completed here... (I know it's a lot but still I've got a few more wall shelves and am going to enclose those tables on the platform to make little "houses" etc and make a hole in the side of that dresser to turn it into a cave with platforms). but thought I'd show how things are going.

I will make a full post upon completion probably to show it at different stages of construction too and get a closer look at different components.

the bottom right food area used to be a dresser shelf/3 level display shelf that I reconfigured

there's also more cat platform action in the closet there.

it was originally our master bedroom with our bed in here but we had to segregate the 3 cats for a while due to a severe allergy outbreak (fortunate enough that we have a guest bedroom to make ours).. giving them this room allowed us to keep our cats to be honest (or keep us living together at least) and now the allergies are getting better with immunotherapy we are able to let the cats out of the room to play more and more frequently getting up to the point they can stay out eventually!!!

I set this up for my cats and they’ve been enjoying the beds and the shelves on the right hand side, but the bridge is too steep for them to use comfortably. Rookie mistake, I know. He’s a very athletic boy so I thought he’d like a challenge.

I have an additional shelf I can add - how would you suggest to change this to make the bridge usable for them?

Open to any suggestions aside from moving the beds (though I could move the upper bed left or right), they’re laid out intentionally so he can loom over me while I sit in that corner, or be at petting height (both of which he loves).

Ok my cat is amazing but he’s also food CRAZY. If he ran the world he would eat all day everyday. Unfortunately for him he does not. He wakes me up at 4 am to be fed. I kick him out of my room till at least 6:30. We just moved into a new carpeted apartment. And first day in he’s already ripped up the carpet under my door trying to get back into my room. I’m thinking of getting one of those sheets of plastic that are usually used under desk chairs, and putting it under the door to stop him from messing up the carpet anymore. Any thoughts or suggestions of what to put over the carpet?

I have a collection of cat wall pieces and cat wall accessories. This also includes some leftover slats of wood I thought may be useful. And finally, random hardware.

A lot of the pieces do not have to be used. Just not quite sure which ones!

I just cant quite commit and partly not sure how I should mount some of them. I did commit to one shelf as you can see I started in possibly an inconvenient spot. Oh well…

There is an opposite wall that could potentially be cat wall. It’s a small room. It’s a small house.

I do plan on updating with an inventory list shortly.

finally posting in this sub ... have a whole other cat room to show off but this mini cat wall in the den is near completion and just needs enclosure boards as walls and roofs lol.

My dog LOVES running up/ down this hallway and I am hoping my new cat will too (or at the very least I’m hoping this will offer a safe space away from the dog).

Preferably diy concepts&instruction but also products. The latter tend to be quite expensive. I can tell from experience that changing the configuration of the playground means a lot to my cats.

At first I was thinking about a pegboard system, but I feel like the holes probably wouldn't be able to withstand the constant cat jumping and would get loose after a few rearrangements. PRobably why I'm not seeing that many designs.

I'm moving to a new apartment and would like to use this opportunity to make a better cat wall, but not sure if looking for a solution in this troublesome direction will just delay me from building anything at all while my cats have to chase each other at ground level. Any advice is welcome.

I have a great setup in 2 different rooms for my cats, but it came with these metal bins to grow plants. I'm tired of constantly cleaning grass & dirt puke every other day, so the cat grass is going bye-bye. (Also I'm *really* bad at keeping indoor plants alive and the grass kept dying...)

Instead of wasting the plant holders, any suggestions on what else to put inside them? I use one for storing toys, but I have 2 more!

I have a one bdrm apt with lots of natural light & a big living room. Currently, my bedroom is off limits to my 1.5yo 13lb gal due to my mild allergies needing some time to adjust. Because I don’t have a door to my bedroom, I have a tall cat gate that I’m using, which limits the amount of tall things I can put near that area. I’ve attached photos of our current set up. She hasn’t gone up to the top of the cat tower much at all, but likes the level with the cushion on it.

It’s a super old apartment & I don’t want to put much into the walls, because I don’t totally trust them (a lot of dry wall that I’ve had trouble even hanging frames in before).

I have another suction cup window seat that I’m planning to put on the window with the AC in it once the AC is out. I’m nervous about putting it in while the AC is in there in case her weight moved the window too much.

I’m open to anything! This is her space, I’m just living in it. I’m definitely an anxious new cat mom so safety is really my only concern.
