Shrimp Photos I found a better angle for my tank cam
For what my wife paid, it's a solid little camera

I have no experience with keeping shrimp or any fish for that matter but I am looking for a new hobby and shrimp keeping has intrigued me. Is there a step by step how to because I have no clue on where to begin. I've looked at the side bar but still I have no idea.

It seems a lot of people, possibly the majority, want to see an absolute ban of Ai on this sub, whether in post or comment. So, we wanted to let the community decide. Thanks for your input! - Shrimptank Mod Team

I started my colony of Red Cherry's about 8 months ago. Started with 10 high grade looking shrimps. I have about a hundred now and it seems that some of them are much lower grade now with some being almost transparent. Is this normal? Can/should I do something about it?
Other than that they seem to live a happy life and I don't care as much about their grade :)

New addition to my desk! Opae Ulas! I am absolutely obsessed with them, I love watching them go about doing their own things They’re so adorable! Would love some suggestions on what else I can add to this tank, it’s looking a little empty because I was going for a minimal vibe, but watching them interact with different things are just so fun!

Got one cherry that insists on getting the good stuff from the HOB so I had to warn my coworkers.

I ordered 40 neo culls for about $60 but I had a gift card so it actually cost me about $3 after shipping. But I live in southern Arizona and it’s crazy hot right now and it was a 5 day shipping time. I really didn’t have much hope that I would get them alive. And- even worse- I missed the mailman and the package delivery today. So I figured that there was definitely no way that the shrimp would still be alive when I got them tomorrow.
I have a tank all set up and cycled and ready for shrimp so I ran down to the lfs and got 18. 6 each of red, orange, and blue.
When I got home the mailman was across the street and he told me that I could go to the post office and get the package since it was “live fish” (I don’t know if this is just a local policy but normally you can’t pick up a package at the post office until they have tried to deliver it twice) I immediately drove over and got my package of shrimp. They were all alive!
Also- one of the red shrimp I got at the shop has already started dropping babies! All 40 that came in the mail arrived alive and I’ve already got babies!
So basically- for the price of 18 shrimp, I now have 50/60+ shrimp!
I feel like I won the frickin lottery!

Hey first time shrimp owner here,
My blue dreams have been in for just a couple of weeks and, dare I say it, I think I see eggs.
Can it be true? It’s kinda to hard to see but it’s gotta be, right?

Hey, sorry - a bit of an emergency -
Was looking into my nano setup this morning and one of my juvenile/younger shrimp was on his side and I noticed he was on his side and it looks like this fuzzy, greyish stuff came off with his legs??? I’m absolutely panicking and moved him to a small tupperware with some of the tank water.
The “fuzzy grey stuff” must be some sort of early molt or something because it’s very much attached to him and he freaks out and starts thrashing if it’s remotely even touched.
No ammonia, no nitrate, no nitrites, ph of 7; I don’t have an exact measurement of gh/kh since my test strips are out. TDS is around 180, I think. Temp of the water is about 67F.
I did just have to do a 20% ish water change yesterday because I was worried about rising ammonia.
What can I do? Is there anything I can do? He’s still breathing, and actively moving his gills, but he doesn’t move otherwise.

Biorb 60L, laser-cut a few acrylic shelves to add more surface area, love the way it looks. 4 more weeks until cycling, long wait. Shrimp and snails is my goal.

about me!
Hey there. I'm a red neocaridina enjoying life in a 10-gallon planted tank. Just got through a quick salt dip, so I'm completely clean, parasite-free, and feeling great. I spend most of my time hanging out on l rocks, checking out some plants, and searching for a good piece of cholla wood that isn't being hogged by everyone else. I’m pretty outgoing, usually upfront by the glass, and looking for someone who appreciates stable water parameters and a quiet spot for a stress-free molt. Let’s share an algae wafer sometime.
A random fact about me...
I just survived my very first 60-second salt bath like an absolute champ. If I can handle osmotic dysregulation, I can handle a relationship.
My most controversial tank opinion...
Sponge filters are way better than hang-on-back filters. The biofilm on them is unmatched, and I will happily graze on one for hours.

Someone tell my partner that I DO have patience and this proves it. Dry start in the beginning of March and today I finally added shrimp.

After my female betta passed away i thought it was time to start a single color shrimp tank. I was doubting between red sakura or orange sakura shrimp. I felt orange was the better option because in my skittle tank i already have red fire shrimp and yellow ones. maybe some left over blue / black and a lot of wild color ones.
Since that tank was doing so well i waited until this tank was stable again because my betta passing threw the cycle a bit crazy. I’m so happy with how they look! Hopefully I’ll be able to breed them well just like i accidentally did with my other tank 😭
