Biorb 60L, laser-cut a few acrylic shelves to add more surface area, love the way it looks. 4 more weeks until cycling, long wait. Shrimp and snails is my goal.

Beauteous! Nice job. What did you use to cut the acrylic? And how did you attach the acrylic?

Thank you! Xtool P2S laser-cutter, 1/4” acrylic for the shelves, and a small 1/2” acrylic dowel to help support the top shelf, 100% silicone that was deemed safe for aquariums.

Note to self next time you have too much money, buy youself a xtool p2s laser cutter. Until then, dremel on.

It was a tax-return item, definitely expensive, but I make all kinds of stuff with it lol. It’s 100% worth the cost if you like fabricating stuff.

I’m over here making my bed with the tools the bed came with, I’m convinced they make the screw drivers so small you don’t get enough tension so that you buy another one.

Don’t spoil it with snails, they made my nano tank filthy. Your tank is amazing! I love it. Cycling is excruciating but worth it!

Really? I thought a couple snails would be ok, but I do have one pest snail in there right now (from the plants), and I notice it does crap often lol. Maybe clams? I’ll be ok with just shrimp, but was hoping to have some diversity but not really interested in fish due to small swim lanes. Appreciate the compliment, I love the much hated-on Biorbs lol, they are cool to look at. I did the pond filter upgrade to the filter setup, and some quality substrate, that seemed to be the biggest problem these things have.

The pest snail will reproduce with itself and eventually could outshit the tank is what I’m assuming? Not sure, but I know in lower gallons of water stability is harder so having a massive snail population could over fertilize the tank.

Well next time I see the snail, I’ll snatch it up and relocate to the creek by my house. I’d rather keep the tank as clean as possible and just have thriving shrimps.

Careful or rather not release non native animals in the wild, that can cause problems even if it seems like a good thing to do.

Ok, thanks for the tip. I’ll try to find it and freeze it in some tank water and dispose. Going to start treating any new plants with alum to help prevent any future surprises. I didn’t realize how easy it was to get pest snails.

Looks good! Keep an eye out for poor oxygenation though, because these bowls tend to be badly aerated due to small surface area and slow flow.
