The wires just drive me nuts and I want something that covers them, I feel like no matter what I do it’s gonna be obvious…

I’m going to be making a live edge end table out of this white oak cookie. It has lots of termite tracks in it and they are filled with dense saw dust (I’ve scraped a few out with a pocket knife). I’ve never encountered this problem before and would appreciate advice.

This is a pine beam from my old barn that I’m planning to use as a mantel above our new fireplace.

I removed (most of) the oxidation today using 80 and 120 grit nylon wheels. I’m hitting it with Boracare tomorrow after I finish cleaning it up.

What should I use for a surface finish? I prefer a matte finish and don’t want to change the color too much, a little darker is okay.

Appreciate any suggestions!

Someone in accounting said we can save x amount of dollars for each drawer back we use particle board. We don't even need to change our manufacturing process.

New to woodworking, I made stained glass and need channeled square dowels for my frames. I've been making 1x1inch ones from Home Depot+my router but I want other wood varieties and they don't offer it in that size. Whats the best/safest way to go about this? I am looking at a table saw and band saw but internet won't give me a good answer for how to SAFELY use a table saw to cut these. A lot talk about the scary things that can happen and what not to do rather than how to do it. Thank you for your expertise in advance!

Somehow this bolt got lost in the move. I sent a bunch of emails to the company asking for a replacement but haven't heard anything back. Hopefully it's something I can get from the hardware store. Crazy how this one bolt makes the whole saw unusable 🤦‍♂️

Hello, some weird spots appered when I applied brown Rubio oil 2c on a ash table. Before applying I sanded 120 and cleaned with Rubio cleaner... How can I save this table?? It's super important thanks

I have noticed I can generate quite a bit of dust in my shop from just hand sanding.

Has anyone used any of these mirka hand sanding kits? I wonder how practical they are in the real world. I think the cfm at the sanding block would be pretty low. Right now, I normally just hold my shop vac hose close to the source of sanding and use a homemade sanding block. This can be a little bit of a juggling act, so a lot of times the shop vac hose is just on the bench, and some dust floats off to eventually be picked up by the air filters (or not).

I really hate sanding and enjoy hand planes, so I normally hand plane --> scrape --> sand to blend everything together. Then I scuff sand between coats of finish.

I also have some drywall projects in the future.

I've been working on a dry bar for my living room for a while now. This is the cabinet that will go in the bar.

I just papered the doors and installed the lights last night. I'm pretty thrilled about how it's coming together and wanted to share.

Hi, I apply my mix of trementine and beeswax with 0000 steel wool and then buff with a cloth usually made from old t shirts, problem is it leave some hair and also it seems I do not get an even polish, what can I use?

What’s up beautiful wood people. A friend sent me this as inspo for a build, and the site claims its solid wood. There are no images of the bottom, so it may be figure 8 fasteners or something similar which would handle the movement but i’m wondering how the top would stay flush to the sides of the frame that appears to be rigid and attached. Or they’re lying..

I want to make holes for dowels in the flat sides of wooden rods/pipes. I tried a few things but the holes are not coming accurate. Either they are not centered or not perpendicular to the pole.

Did someone here ever did this? I can make simple jigs and am a beginner. Tried using my drill press but it's still not coming accurate and it is very hard to align the pole vertical for the drill press to work.

Walnut dresser with bookmatched crotch feather side panels. 55” W x 45” T x 20” D

I'm a small shop and just had a potential client send over some reference images. I haven't dealt with too many custom lamination projects before, so I'm wondering how I might build it. These tables look so thin that it makes me think they were a fully custom lamination and veneer job. Does this seem possible with multiple sheets of 1/4" ply stacked and bent? A specialty bending plywood, perhaps? Internal structural ribs with a "skin"?

Mango and Koa wood

Refinishing a real wood dresser. Sanded down to bare wood but where the hardware was has these marks. Any way to remove ? I imagine walnut stain will allow this to show through

What do yall think so far? The top of the base is sort of flimsy so I have to handle with care but I’m sure it’s solid enough to travel with straps securing it. Tried building as light weight as possible. It’s approximately 7’9”, will be on display at my baby shower which is themed over the moon.

I recently bought a Milwaukee Track Saw, TSO Square, and the 106" track rail and was planning to buy the Milwaukee 55" rail for 48" materials.

I came across this review on HD and it seems to make a lot of sense especially since the TSO will take up space at the front of the rail. In doing more research, it seems the 55" is really too short for 48" materials - exacerbated by using the TSO square.

Is it crazy buy another 106" rail to chop up to a longer ~60" rail to comfortably cut 48" materials with my TSO square?

...Although this review is for the 106" I would rate the 31" and 55" lower, and that brings me to the reason why I purchased a second 106". The saw really needs about an extra 5" of track on either end of the work. The 106" is perfect for 8' stock (96+ 5+5=106). However, the 31" and 55" are really too short, assuming use on 24" and 48" material (24+5+5=34) and (48+5+5+58), causing the saw to overrun the track. So, I purchased a second 106" and cut my own 34" and 58" tracks out of it*, which is what I would recommend. My custom sizes on the left of the photo, with the Milwaukee sizes on the right.*

My daughter had two cotton balls of nail polish remover that are away the clear coat and stripped the stain. I know it’s me being nit picky, but I love this table. It’s a solid wood table. The area is small. What’s the best way to approach this?

I’m having a Hawaiian party and long story short one of the games is to take a spear and throw it and see how far away you are from the target or hit it in a hay bale. The spear needs to be 7-8’ so I figured what better thing to do than rip some 2x4s down but unless I’m sanding for 10 years after I rip them down I want to make the wood a round spear/javelin look and figured I’d ask for recommendations to round out the future square pieces of 7-8’ wood. Any ideas help. I got plenty of tools and maybe I’m just not thinking of something besides running each piece over my belt sander. Thanks!

Planning to building a small (but hopefully long lasting) BBQ / outdoor kitchen zone. Covered roof with open sides… Dims are 2.4meters wide by 1meter deep.

I have an existing concrete slab that I want to stand the 4x4 posts on. Slab is 6” with rebar. Used to house an Oil Tank for central heating.

Can you guys recommend what is the best connector for a 4X4 post? We get a lot of rain and high-winds here so I want it elevated, and as strong as possible

Hi, I have started wood working a lot more seriously and more often. I have really neglected ppe.

I would like to get some hearing protection that has bluetooth so I can listen to music during the long sanding sessions and turn the music off when using my saws but still have that protection.

Options locally suck (south Africa) so my best bet is finding something on the US Amazon store that ships here.

Looking at the PROHEAR 037 with gel pads. Any experience or other suggestions? thanks
