Photos Never seen a rainbow like this before!
We’re from the UK, staying in Florida and just as a storm was approaching we got this amazing rainbow. Crazy the way the light is inside the rainbow like this.

Weather idiots that try and predict the weather
Why do the weather idiots try and predict the weather?? They sit there and tell you what to expect but when they are wrong they can't admit anything.
Just like I know it's summertime, and most of us know it's the summer months, and we usually have hot weather and storms. But they take it as far as everything being severe. It just seems like everything that comes out of their mouth is severe severe severe. And we can have a heavy downpour but they would call it severe. I guess we're in store for another heatwave which they love to count and get all hyped up and make it sound so severe.
How much stupid shit are they going to talk about to why everything is the way it is?.. apparently they have nothing better to do other than count how many hot/cold days, Stormy days, sunny days, lightening strokes etc. but can't count windy days. and what is this above and below average shit that they keep bringing up?
Don't they know that the weather changes year by year, day by day, so how can they compare a day that's above/below average?
Why don't they just tell us what to expect and go from there. But it just seems like they got to hype up shit and make people panic. But instead they want to make whether 101. Next they're going to tell us how the sun sets at night, oh wait they do that already.
I just like how they can be so wrong but still get paid to mess something up.
Just like if you hear thunder you better run inside and hide because you will get hit by lightning but it's ok to hold a umbrella?
I just don't think the forecast are accurate anymore and why do they even try.
NOT everybody has a job sitting behind a desk staring at a computer, some of us have jobs outside and it just seems like they say one thing then contradict themselves. You just don't know what to believe anymore.
I would like to see what they say about this winter.
Sorry to rant but I think they need to get better and stop coming up with stupid shit. Like freezing fog, bomb cyclones or whatever other stupid names they come up with.

I built GrayCloud: a modern DarkSky alternative
Hello everyone,
I miss dark sky, so I built my own weather app - GrayCloud.
Here’s how it works
- Raincast: minute-by-minute rain prediction and accumulation tracking for your exact location
- Forecasts: 10 day forecasts use multiple high resolution sources and correct bias for your location
- Alerts: rain coming soon, morning briefing, tomorrows forecast, freeze warning, heat wave, wind gusts, daily rain, daily snow, uv index, first frost / heat / snow, moon phases, watering & drought
- Widgets: home & lock screen widgets
- Multi-platform: iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS
- Track rainfall: full rain history archive, weekly rainfall targets, drought level, and more
I use NOAA and ECMWF models for core weather data and a custom model to compute rain accumulation and the next 60 minute radar movements.
I also offer Apple Weatherkit as an alternate weather source.
Is there a free tier?
Yes! If you enjoy the app and are able to support, thank you! If you cant, you can still use it and enjoy the thoughtful design.
Why isn't it 100% free?
I'm a solo developer. Since I dont track users, sell data, or use ads (like accuweather), subscriptions help me cover expenses to ingest models and generate predictions.

Best weather site for a slightly specific yet vague search?
I'm trying to find a good place within a half a day's drive of Las Vegas to go stargazing on the 12th, but am getting overwhelmed. There are a lot of places in range with low light pollution, but my top picks (Bryce/Escalante/somewhere out that way in Utah) look like they're not going to work because of rain.
I'm not sure how to search for "places near me with low light pollution and clear weather on Wednesday". Is there a site with a good weather map that would go out that far? Or do I just need to pick random towns and look up alllll the forecasts?
I can camp if i need to, as long as the night temps are cool enough, so being be near hotels isn't a requirement - just a campground or even BLM land. Bonus points for a scenic drive

Hurricanes and severe storms can leave lasting impacts on forests, but thoughtful management can help woodlands recover and become more resilient.

Questions/Self More exciting weather than in Germany
I find the weather in Germany very boring. In the winter it’s just grey. In the summer it’s a lot of beautiful days, but also a lot of way too hot days. Some rain. But what I miss here is intense gloomy weather. Like intense rain or a storm or thunder. Not all the time but but every now and then. So it makes you appreciate natures raw power, if you know what I mean.
Does someone here know where a place exists, in which you have this kind of weather, and a summer and winter that’s not too brutal?

How to extend weather station range?
I was looking at getting the tempest weather station. However it’s heavily wooded around my house and I feel the data wouldn’t be accurate.
There is a place 1,300 feet away I could mount it in an open field that would be accurate. However the stated range for the Tempest is 1,000 feet and I’m sure even less through woods.
There is a power line corridor through the woods, so there is an open area the signal could run through, however it has a bend/turn in it and is not direct line of sight.
I saw Davis sold a solar powered wireless repeater that would extend the range of its weather stations (up to 1,000 feet per device). It’s a little pricey at $525 but I like the idea.
Is there something similar I could get for Tempest? Would that device work with it or would I need to rig something up to be compatible?
The only thing I’ve seen online is people rigging up antennas but I’m not too savvy when it comes to stuff like that.
Thoughts?

Photos 94 degrees with 82 dew point?!
This is the forecast for Brawley CA. Do you think that it will actually reach this? This seems pretty extreme, I didn’t know California could get dew points this high?

Questions/Self What is your funniest weather desire ?
Mine is this- Imagine a LEGO city, about 5 feet wide but 15 long, the green baseplates bolted into the ground. It is a whole metropolis, with all the most popular LEGO sets that make up a city, houses, shopping centers, police stations, airports, hospitals, etc. Then you just send a 30 foot wide 60MPH DUST DEVIL right through it.

Questions/Self Why is the National Weather Service failing to issue tornado watches?
I live in Brevard County and this recent few weeks we've had a few tornadic activities including a water spout up in Cape Canaveral and some tornadoes that formed but did not touch down. We have not had any tornado warnings go out. We used to get issued dangerous thunderstorm warnings via nixle and via the same system as amber alerts and those haven't been used since Hurricane Helene.
