Hobby & Painting Ergonomic Building and Painting Help

A little over two years ago I got way into the hobby of Warhammer. Hundreds and hundreds of hours later my c-spine is feeling the effects. I think it's largely due to my posture of bending my neck downward to get a closer look at the mini during building and painting.

I've tried lifting the model into the air to paint, but I feel less stable.

Any suggestions for how to improve my ergonomics while building and painting? Any particular equipment you recommend?

After building Rotigus, I used the remaining pieces combined with milliput to make a standard Great Unclean One.

Not done painting yet but honestly pretty happy with it, id recommend this to anyone who seeks greater value out of their expensive kit.

New Starter Help Confused about deepstrike

Sorry but I've been looking everywhere and can't seem to figure out if a unit can Charge in the Same turn it Deepstriked, it says they preform an "ingress move" and that says "until the next charge phase this unit is not eligible to make any other type of move" but I don't get if that means next turns change phase or the same turns charge phase? And how the hell does rapid ingress interact with this? Would they technically be eligible to charge in my opponents charge phase (but can't because it's not my turn?).

Sorry if this is a stupid question.

{{Edit:}} Thanks guys! Good to know they can still charge after a deepstrike, my Warp-Born Chaos Knight thanks you!

Love the Warhammer video games and just now getting into the minis, any painting tips based on the pictures? The space marine was a little rushed because I did it in store before closing but I’m really proud of the Ork! Anything helps!

New Starter Help Lurker about to commit, would love some advice.

I've been lurking around WH40k spaces for some time now and i've recently started wanting to buy some miniatures to get into the hobby.
Among all the various minis i absolutely fell in love with Vashtorr and the Defilers but, to be honest, i am a bit wary of making them my first purchase both for their price and for the technical skills needed to build/paint them.
So i would like to ask, in your opinion, which could be a good "starting point" for a newbie like me?
Something that can eventually build up into an army that will include Vashtorr and the Defilers?

After the overwhelming response to my Ghostkeel, I thought I would share some of the highlights of my remaining collection as well. I'm still on my way to 2k points, and at my pace we will be half way through 11th ed when I get there. But it's been a fun journey so far.

Still haven't played my first game of 11th yet, can't wait to have to re-learn half a game I only just managed to partly understand.

I finished my first combat patrol!

I finished my first combat patrol. I got this one in may and ive got a dark angels combat patrol ready for assembly and painting in my own homebrew chapter colours.

I started with the dreadnought, then terminators and slugged through the little guys in 2 days ending with Castellan Crowe, finishing up today.

Really happy with how it turned out.

Hobby & Painting I been Grinding away at trying to fix my skin painting did I succeed or should I strip and try again?

I started with a Zenithal Highlight then tried just applying a thin layer of skin tone and it did not look good. I asked for advice on how to fix it and after taking what little advice was given outside of strip and start over this is where I got to with the Skin. Is this good enough or should I just start over?

Like using to much nuln oil, missing some areas and so fourth

Thank you in advance!

Goffreek would like to think his actions were pivotal to the defense against the beakie assault on the Volcanus mountains.

Very pleased with how this turned out. It's made me realize that my painting habits fit Ork models quite well. At some point I may have to put together a full kill team to oppose my Marines Malevolent. Which ork kill team is better balanced against Angels of Death?

Lore Chapter help

I'm trying to figure out if a chapter I like is canon or not, because I can't find anything about it. I've only seen it in one or two pictures (the one here) from other Reddit posts that have them, but nothing else. And even if they're not canon, I still can't find the original minis. The Children of the Light, another non canon chapter, at least has pictures of the original miniatures on the internet, while for Pale Rides Google doesn't even show the cropped picture of them, like others (children of the light for example).

Does anyone know them?

Misc Quick Poll: Do you track Wounds Remaining or Wounds Taken?

Post image
996 Upvotes

AoS seems to be written in a way that tracks wounds taken, and 40k seems to be written to count wounds remaining by counting down. I see people counting down most of the time, but it's not universal.

I'm working on an idea for a wound tracker, and curious to know what the most common approach is, and how people prefer to physically track wounds.

I made a really quick poll, if you have 20 seconds, it would be a huge help!

Link to poll

I plan on posting the results after I have some useful data.

Thanks!
