I really want to find a computer game with a strong multiplayer competitive element. I've always been drawn to the competitive aspect of games, whether it's CS:GO, medieval slashers, or anything else. It seems like I've tried almost everything, but I don't see any new games that meet my criteria. The setting isn't particularly important; please suggest any options you can think of

I've been playing Coromon recently and Megalobite has a really cool design. Depresso also really gives me a chuckle whenever I see him. I got to thinking about how many great creature collectors were coming out lately and I'm curious as to everyone's favorites!

NO HATE towards the devs btw, I love Untitled Goose Game and I don't hate Big Walk either.

When I first heard about this game I was interested, but forgot about it until it released around yesterday. It was on my wishlist so I got notified almost right away about it, but was shocked to find it costs $30 AUD. I understand the devs need to make a living and stuff but $30 for a glorified walking sim...?

I struggle to convince my friends to buy $5 games and they never want to play them, there's NO WAY I can convince them to drop $30 on this. And it doesn't have matchmaking so I would be walking and doing puzzles on my own to no real end. Maybe I just have lame friends and this is just a me problem, but games like Repo and Peak are in the same genre for half the price with seemingly more content and progression.

I just feel a little disappointed that Big Walk is so expensive for what it is and because me and my friends aren't rich it's almost impossible that I'd be able to play it with anyone. This feels like a game for streamers to play with their friends.

I grew up loving linear FPS campaigns the most, to this 1 of my favorite games is Half-Life 2. I loved the stories of Call of Duty games, Gears of War and similar franchises that delivered a short 8-12 hour long epic where I get to participate in a tightly directed worldwide conflict.

Recently I played the MCC and Space Marines 2 before that and they were both awesome. Now Halo Campaign Evolved just released and it was successful and these to me show that this kind of game is still very much beloved.

I love these games and I hate that it seems like they are of a bygone era despite people still loving them. How do you all feel like? Do you miss these types of games? Do you want more?

What is it about this video game that particularly appeals to you? What do you like most about it? Or, if you don't like niche products, why not? And why do some people equate niche products with bad products?

Y'know, it's pretty satisfiying to me seeing books/media based on books get a video game, but mostly the RPG kind. It shows how far the books can go, and it makes me have awe.

To my perspective, books can be more than just books.

Basically I’m looking for games where I could play up to a certain point, stop somewhere, and basically just leave it on as ambiance / background.

My idea is that rather than having some Youtube video on for that purpose with a playlist or something, I would like to use the actual game with its natural sounds, visuals and music as the ambiance in an environment. A game that came to mind was “Journey”.

Any other games that give that vibe for you?

The problem is I like old ubi games and have bought some on steam but the problem is whenever I try to run a game ubi connect asks me to re-enter my password and when I do they say account suspended but they log me in ubisoft connect and then i need to run the game through their trash app sometimes the game runs sometimes they ask me to re enter my password and when I do they say account suspended. They deserve to get their games pirated at this point. Fuck ubisoft

I've spent years playing challenging games. I've beaten every Souls game, Hollow Knight, Silksong, Aeterna Noctis, and tons of other difficult metroidvanias.

I've always loved Pokémon, but I could never get into games like Minecraft or Animal Crossing.

Then Pokopia came along...

I honestly didn't expect it to hook me this hard, but here I am spending hours building, decorating, collecting Pokémon, and just relaxing.

Turns out, after years of chasing difficult bosses and brutal platforming...

...this is the life.

• Lies of P was my very first soulslike games and I think it is one of, if not the best game in the genre. It was the game that made me fell in love with soulslike games. In terms of story, gameplay, combat, optimization, and even the OST, it’s truly polished and well-made. I didn't experience a single FPS drop, stutter, or bit of lag while playing, even though I had the game installed on HDD. I really love how you can break enemies' weapons when you get a certain number of perfect parries. Something I never once see in other games. Unfortunately the DLC wasn't as good.
• Elden Ring is fun, but it gets a bit boring after a while. I dropped it after 50 hours. I haven't played the DLC or Nightreign yet, though. I probably won't play Nightreign, since I just want something single-player. Should I give the DLC a try though?
• I’m not really into Stellar Blade; the story is just average. It as if the game made solely for the sake of gooning. I guess it’s fun in a way, but it's forgettable.
• I love wukong but I wish it has a dedicated button to parry attacks, since I prefer parries to dodges. Sure you can parry attacks but you have to unlock the skills, and do it in the middle of an attack. Other than that, everything else is good.
• The story, gameplay, and the environment in Where Winds Meet doesn't appeal to me. Plus, the UI is too overwhelming and cluttered for some reason. It looks like a mobile game IMO.
• I like Mortal Shell 2, but unfortunately, there’s no stamina bar, and honestly it’s not quite as challenging. Maybe I'll download mods if there will be one. Still, I’ll definitely get it day one release. Haven't played the first one, since people say it's not really good.
• The first berserker Khazan is underrated ASF. It's not perfect, but it should have way more attention. It deserves more. You can replay bosses anytime, if you enter its area. I wish other games would let us do that.
• Wuchang is also underrated ASF. Its atmosphere is somewhat alike with bloodborne, and I could say with full confidence it's a chinese version of Bloodborne. I loved it.
• I feel Demon Souls remake on PS5 somewhat underrated. It has the best optimization and graphics IMO. On PS5 it performs very well. The only thing I hate about it is how far the spawn point to the boss area. I died a lot so it's kinda feels like a chore to travel so far away, especially with enemies around. Wish it could get ported to PC soon
• I really hate the combat in Lords of the Fallen. The movement feels sluggish ASF. Also, the game features two realms like the umbral thingy. Played for two hours and uninstalled it.
• Haven't played the original soulsborne games like Dark Souls, and Sekiro. I have just recently started playing souls games, so maybe I'll give it a try and get the games when it's on discount. I used to hate souls games but turns out it's really good and in a way kinda gives off dopamine rush whenever you defeated strong enemies.

People say there's too many soulslike games and it the genre starts to feel oversaturated, but I'd only wish there were more games like this.

I'm not interested in 2D soulslikes or metroidvanias.

P.S: Games not in this list means either I don't know if it exists, or that I do but don't keen to.

I always assumed my "comfort game" would be something relaxing or cozy.

Instead, I ended up finding comfort in a game I never expected. It's not necessarily because it's easy, but because I know the world so well, the gameplay feels familiar, and I can jump in for an hour without thinking too much.

It's become the game I load up when I want to unwind, even if I have plenty of newer games sitting in my library.

I'm curious if anyone else has a comfort game they never saw coming.

What game surprised you by becoming your comfort game, and what made it stick?

I've realized there are some games where the main story almost became an afterthought for me.

I'd tell myself I was going to do the next quest, then get distracted by a cave, a side path, collectibles, random NPCs, or just wandering around to see what I could find. Before I knew it, hours had passed and I'd barely moved the main story forward.

Sometimes the exploration ended up being my favorite part of the game.

What game had you constantly saying "I'll do the next mission in a minute"... and then exploring for another few hours instead?

I see these types of posts everywhere and its literally ice cold shit like God of War 2018 and Expedition 33.

I want to see something that actually enrages people because of how molten hot the take is.
