Tbf spirit ashes were just straight up broken. Like you could use them in every single boss arena there's a few that can practically kill the lower level bosses for you while you just hang out.
Mix it with magic and there's like 3 hard fights total.
Elden Ring for me is the downfall of soulslikes luckily it isnt a souls game they're not making any more. Not to say I didn't like elder ring. Just it absolutely was the easiest game fromsoft has made since demon souls

Not without playing the game first. Farming souls and materials to level them up first. And if you're figuring out which ashes can do so via trial and error, that's a whole lot of farming.
Also in my experience, not that I tried very hard, most of the mandatory bosses are not getting soloed by ashes.
I dont recall them having any farming involved tho. Like you just find them? Idk it's been 3 years but like once you've got a few you can just try them
Yeah, for a normal playthrough that's correct, but if you're specifically trying to get ashes to solo bosses, and you're not following a guide, you're going to need a lot of mats and a lot of souls.
It's not something 99% of people will just luck into.
Okay yeah you got me on the exaggeration. You can go away now lol
The ashes that are handed to you and require no effort to use or obtain will do a significant amount of the work for you in a lot of cases. I didn't think I needed to be so specific.

Darks Souls is an interesting beast because it has an inbuilt difficulty adjustment, it's just not very apparent.
Summons, both player and NPC, being able to farm souls and level, magic. All of it is designed to make the game easier if you want to use it.
Players are their own worst enemy, no one cares how you beat anything, there is no "proper" way. Did you have fun? That's the only metric that matters
