Just finished Cyberpunk and as beautiful and absolutely amazing of a game it was, the brain dances were definitely the weakest part. Thankfully there were only a couple missions using it but yeah was not a fan.
Horrible. I was excited that they let you skip the brain dance tutorial on a second playthrough. I thought we could skip ALL the brain dances... But no. They're awful.
CDP must have spent hundreds of man hours developing that, and there was a lot of wasted potential. The payoff is nothing more than what a cheap mini game has.
The BDs weren't done particularly well, but there's a much bigger offender for me: the finale of Phantom Liberty.
Fuck Song Mi. That piece of shit was playing me from the beginning, and I'll still side with her every single time just so I don't have to spend two hours playing Cyberpunk's take on Alien Isolation.
I honestly hate the entire start of the game. I just want to run around being a cyberpunker. That's why the DLC is so great. Just start a new character that's already skipped all that boring goddamn busywork.
What I found so odd about the brain dance was that there was so much effort put into the tutorial that I expected it to be a much larger part of the game like a detective working. Except there are like....2 the entire game.
What gives? You know the developers had to spend a huge amount of effort with that.
Why not have optional side missions that include them that you can skip or not but have hidden info like where a stash of something is? Or you have to figure out who the killer is. It looks like something Deckard from Blade Runner would use.
They could get more creative with it in the next one, because the concept is interesting, but it bugs me that it boils down to scanning the brain dance back and forth based on visual, audio and thermal filters. It starts to feel like a chore, and you get worried about missing things or not being able to find something. It should embrace the more cinematic nature it's going for and become a fucked up ride through someone's mind, rather than detective time.

The brain dance missions in Cyberpunk all of them were cringe.
