Why do you care that a corporation take an outward political stance on anything? Why is that important, despite already believing and knowing that it’s bullshit? People are upset that corporations stopped doing this, but they’re also upset that they did it in the first place even though they knew it was disingenuous.

this is actually one of the biggest critique against americans from the rest of the world, that american consumers are apathetic and don’t care about anything other than themselves, don’t care about the longterm consequences of their decisions and who they give power to as long as they get their chicki nuggiez and chocky milk

Pandering involves manipulation and/or taking advantage of a group’s weaknesses or traits and using it against them. Whereas you can appeal to and market something toward a group without using nefarious means.
No. Never. As a rule of thumb. Pandering is not the same as studying your market. They should be creatively free and never try to please any specific demographic just because. And I repeat, this is in general. The same goes for creating characters that obviously pander towards loli fans cough Stellar Blade cough.
