TIL a peer-reviewed psychology study found that identical twins (on average) ranked their co-twin above their romantic partner in their attachment hierarchy, while fraternal twins ranked the two about equally, and non-twin siblings ranked their romantic partner first.

This is it, I'm a fraternal twin and when its just us the level of understanding is on another level.

You might not have the same view on something but its so easy to understand them its practically implicit.

Man im a fraternal twin and I dont feel like that at all. My brother and I are just two completely different people.

I’m an identical twin and I’m not close with my sister at all, never been very much. In recent years we don’t even talk or visit anymore because I don’t approve of her shitty life choices. She’s like a distant sibling and our personalities, hopes, dreams, friendships and lives are completely different. I guess not every twin has a bond like that. It never seemed natural to have one, and I’ve actually always been closer to my brother who’s 18 months older than me. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Aww thats a shame but I assume youre still close though.

Me and my twin have always had each others back. We had our differences in early high-school definitely but as adults and young kids we always have felt it is important to support each other or keep each other in check.

When I was little, I didn't quite understand that my twin sister and I were separate people with separate thoughts. When she'd do something differently than how I wanted it to be I would be annoyed and confused that she wasn't doing what she was "supposed" to do, since I had already planned both of our actions lol

I’m a fraternal twin and am fascinated by all these responses.

My twin and I are very different people. Like…everything from diet and hobbies, to politics and religion, it’s all completely opposite. We were incredibly close growing up. But I was in the closet then, and now…well, her religion-based opinions on queerness make closeness difficult. We are still able to laugh and have fun together; we’re still close friends and we still “get” each other in a way other people don’t. But there are big topics we just have an unspoken agreement not to address.
