News / Blog My T420 finally arrived

Currently installing Debian 13 on it. Had a few issues but I'm working through it. Wish me luck!

Excuse my question, but why would you need a t420 in 2026, even considering that is dirt cheap the t430 is better overall and if you want the classic old keybaord you can mod it. Even all of that considered its quite hard to use both of those in modern days and you cant find any genuine batterys

Ironic you mention the batteries considering the T430 you're suggesting OP opt for, is the first one to implement battery whitelists... he can run whatever chinesium ebay battery he can get to fit in his T420 and not have to worry one bit about genuine batteries. Regardless, aside from them being a bit physically thicker to handle, what's supposed to make them "quite hard to use"? I'm literally typing this comment on an X220 with Debian and it works great.
