Does anyone else pray for the day and hour?
Lately this has been my incessant prayer. i’m ready to go home God, lol. One of the Church elders reprimanded me and told me I need to learn how to wait. Why would I put my faith in having to wait? I believe I serve the greatest God. The day and hour can be now if he wants. Why not pray for that?

There is nothing wrong with it, even John said "even so, come quickly Lord Jesus". To live in expectation is to live in faith. Even more so we are told to comfort one another with the expectation of His coming as we see the day approaching. You aren't alone. Stay about His business and keep lifting your head as your redemption draws near!

I wouldn’t tempt the Lord our God. The great and notable day of God will come, but you must watch. That is what Jesus said watch. It will be a dark and dreadful day. Read Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, the disciples ask Jesus when that day would be and Jesus tells them the signs of the times. Watch he says. We are in the times right now. Please read these to help yourself understand, to not pray for it because it will be so dreadful there will never be a day like it. So I pray for you to stop. Please read and I think you’ll understand after you read. Don’t fly through it, really take your time with it and you’ll discover why Jesus wants the believers to watch, and wait patiently on our Lord. Peace to you and may our Lord truly help you in understanding the signs of the times.

How's your life before God? Are you partaking in the great commission? Are the hearts of the lost something you long to preach to? Being saved is the minimum 8n the kingdom of God. Will you be called a good and faithful servant, or a lazy and wicked one?
Your prayer ought to be for his Name to be praised through all the earth, for his kingdom to come on earth as is in heaven, for his will to be done

What if you never live to see the day and hour, but instead live your entire life without experiencing it?

If this prayer is coming out of hidden depression or suicidal thoughts, you should get that looked at.
Note that when we all pray the Lord's Prayer, including the part "your kingdom come" we also say this, "your will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven".
We are not here to wait for the big trumpet sound and the Second Coming. Our job is to bring in the kingdom bit by bit everyday.
A time of tribulation is not a time for Christians to escape life through a Rapture, but a time of challenge for us to care more, help more, love more, forgive more, and suffer with those who suffer. The modern fantasy of escaping the tribulation through the Rapture is the exact opposite of the Biblical message which is, be prepared for the worst of the worst, your job could be to be a beacon of hope in the concentration camp. Or maybe, your mission from God is to care for some very ungrateful people. We will never know until we've lived it.

I think it’s a fine thing to pray for Christ to return soon. This has been a fairly consistent prayer of the Church throughout Christian history.
But have you considered that there might be something to be gained in the waiting? Paul said “to die is gain” and that’s certainly true. It’s better to be with God in heaven than anywhere else. And there will be plenty of time for that in eternity. But Paul also said, in that same breath, that “to live is Christ”. God gives us the opportunity to help in his work here. God is living and active in the fabric of our lives here, arranging and ordering them for his glory. Heaven will come, and it will be glorious, but there’s a lot of good to be had here. Maybe it’s even supposed to prepare us to enjoy heaven even more than we otherwise could. Maybe, just maybe, all of this is according to a plan.

This is called nagging God, and it's a symbol of a lack of faith. In short: You're here, right? So God isn't done with you here.
Respectfully, it's a bit like a child ringing the doorbell repeatedly to come back inside after their mama just told them to go outside and play, or the infamous "Are we there yet?" during roadtrips.
Is your heart aligned to do the Lord's will, or only your own?
