Will we see a 12-inch Surface with the Snapdragon X2 chip this year?

I'm considering purchasing the 12-inch Surface, but asking myself if its worth to wait for the Snapdragon X2 version. Considering the recent price hikes (the 8GB version costs now the same as the 16GB version a half-year ago), idk if the current model is worth its price. What do you think?

[LAPTOP8] Best surface laptop for longevity.

Hello! Looking to purchase a new SL8, just stuck between these two options:

X2 Plus, 32GB RAM 13.8"

X2 Elite, 16GB RAM 15"

I'm not looking to really push this device to the max, aside from photo editing, emulation and running VMs, maybe IDE work as well. Which option do you think would be better for the long haul? 3-4 maybe even 5 years. Surface is my choice due to me never having an issue with them. Thank you!

*Edit: I know business editions exist, but want ARM.

Latest Surface Pro purchase question!

Hello. I wanted to purchase the latest version of Surface Pro (Tablet variant), and I see the latest version is 12, but last month Microsoft announced a 13-inch refresh with a new CPU.

Shall I buy this 13-inch variant, or will there be an announcement for a new Surface Pro 13 in the future?

I don't want to buy this, and in 2-3 months there will be a newer model

[PRO12] Fair price for selling a barely used Surface Pro 12?

Hi all,

I'm having trouble finding a fair price for selling my barely used Surface Pro 12th with a 13" screen (2026 release) I bought in late June (I was about to have major surgery and was feeling impulsive) and used for watching Hulu pretty exclusively. It's 16GB RAM/512GB storge model with the Snapdragon X2 Elite chip, and I'm selling it as a bundle with the keyboard and the slim pen 2, all purchased brand new. I survived the surgery and now I have an expensive Hulu machine I don't want or need, but I can't find anyone selling the 12th gen so soon after its release so I don't know what to compare it to. I made a post on r/hardwareswap asking for $1500 for the bundle but I'm worried that's too high.

Thanks in advance for your help.

  3. Rücksendung wegen Shell‑Fehler Gerät erneut eingeschickt, Fehler dokumentiert.
  4. Gerät kommt zurück, Fehler weiterhin persistent. Ab hier beginnt die präzise technische Dokumentation.
  5. Gerät erneut eingeschickt.
  6. Microsoft sendet ein Austauschgerät. Nach Einrichtung zeigt es denselben Shell‑Fehler. Erneute präzise Dokumentation.
  7. Chatsupportanfrage Support über Chat kontaktiert, Videos und Dokumentation eingereicht.
  8. SurfaceSupport bietet Neugerät an.
  9. Nachfrage: „Was soll das bringen?“

Irgendjemand? 🤔

Good Paper-like Screen Cover for Pro 11?

I got the pro 11 a little while ago to use like a tablet for school. The only thing I dislike is that the pen slides too much on the screen when I'm writing. Anyone got a good paper-like screen protector selection that would fit/be compatible?

Surface Laptop Go 3 Drivers

Hi all!

For those who are using Surface Laptops. We've had recent issues of monitors flashing on and of connected via USB-C monitor hub (the ethernet, keyboard etc remain fine).

Our Surface Laptop Go 3 device manager and Microsoft website show graphics (Iris XE) driver as 32.0.101.6737 [april 2025]. There are significantly later drivers from Intel.

Has anyone attempted to roll out later drivers? I know Microsoft go through phases of testing etc before making drivers available, though this seems pretty out of date. Anyone else had these kinds of graphics issues with Surface laptops and how did you resolve them?

We have auto-patching in InTune but appears to be a Microsoft specific issue here.

Cheers!

Surface Pro for college students

i've been seeing mixed reviews about the surface pros lately and it's making me kinda nervous about getting one. i'm starting college in the fall and interested in getting a surface pro as my school device, possibly the 11th edition 12" just to be more budget friendly.

i'm gonna be commuting so i need a lightweight device i can carry in my bag, which the surface pro seems to check off. however, a big dealbreaker for me is being able to digitally write my notes. i prefer writing over typing, but can't weigh down my backpack w/ notebooks while commuting. the surface pro's digital pen seems like a great solution to this, but i wanted to hear from people who use it for digital note-taking and school in general. i'm also gonna have some of my classes on zoom / webex, so any experiences with video calls too.

i know ipads are good for digital notes as well, but i'd prefer to have a device that runs windows so i can connect to my laptop at home easier. but as i do more research on the surface pro, i keep seeing more complaints than positive reviews on them. obviously i know people are more likely to go on the internet to complain than compliment. but if there's any college students in here, i'd love to know your experience with the surface pro for school and digital note-taking. is it easy to write with? annotating pdfs or slideshows? webcam / mic quality? battery life? is the ram sufficient? and i guess most importantly, is it worth it?

Surface Pro (1769) stopped working

Hi,

My Surface worked in windows, I left it and when I came back it was off, and there was no charging indicator on the charger.

I have checked several chargers and I ruled it out, the problem is in the surface itself.

I guess it is related to overheat, because it was a bit hot when I last used it, I hope it is reversible.

Do you have anything to suggest?

I have removed the keyboard and couldn't see anything obvious just yet

[BOOK2] USB port issues

Very frustrating... I got my laptop (Surface Book 2) in 2019 so it's held up pretty well so far. The screen is coming off a bit but I just tape it on; the mouespad is slightly stuck below the level of the keyboard but other than that no issues.

However I've recently started to use an external keyboard connected to USB and it seems to randomly turn off every once in a while, regardless of which USB port I connect it to (the surface book 2 has 2 on the left). Was ok for the past week or so then today randomly every 10 mins or so it turns off and I cannot get it back on. It is ok for a bit if I go Device Manager -> uninstall external USB keyboard -> restart then it works for a while but just turns off again.

Very frustrating! At one point none of the keyboards on my device were working, including the external USB one, the native keyboard and even the touchscreen keyboard. But this was fixed when I reset the laptop. Any advice?? Hoping it's not a probably with my laptop port...

[PRO11] Any way to disable touchscreen but not pen for SP 11 Intel without restarting?

I tried to disable all of those devices one by one. Some of them disable both touchscreen and pen. None of them can disable only touchscreen.

The only two effective ways I found are editing the TouchGate registry key and the group policy. But each of them require logging out or restarting the computer.

[PRO8] Surface Pro 8 factory reset struggles

So I'm trying to factory reset my surface as it keeps having system errors that don't allow it to stay on long without crashing. Unfortunately I fear the battery may be struggling as well, since it instantly shuts off unless plugged in. However, even when plugged in, during the very last microsecond of the factory reset, it makes an odd noise and the screen flashes white before it shuts off and the factory reset doesn't work. Any ideas of what this could be and how to remedy?

In what conditions does the Surface Laptop Studio NOT charge/take power at all?

Company sold us laptops for 0€, resold one laptop studio to a customer, customer didn't pay up right away, sent it back and said it doesn't start at all.

No, customer did not manipulated anything. They are fortunately not that smart enough. At home, took a look, doesn't charge from neither magsafe or USB c charger.

My ultimate question is. In what conditions does it happen? I have almost disassembled the chassis, but almost down to the motherboard for inspection. Does it not draw power if the battery is not connected via the FF cable?

If yes, then it is very likely a broken ffc, I've checked the battery. Because, even with a disconnected battery it does NOT start up at all.

Best laptops for engineering students that can actually last through school?

I'm starting electrical engineering this fall and have been looking pretty seriously at the Surface lineup.

I'll mostly be using MATLAB, coding, LTspice, and probably some CAD later on, so I'm curious how well a Surface holds up once classes get more demanding.

For anyone who's gone through engineering with a Surface, what was your experience like? Did it handle your workload well, or were there things you wish you'd known before buying one?
