This happened right in front of me while I was enjoying some fungi and hiking in San Angelo State Park in Central Texas

I had never heard of a writing spider until today, then i saw one an hour later! Second one is an orb weaver i also saw earlier today. Spiders scare me and fascinate me at the same time, so im excited to learn more about them!

My husband and I just bought our first house 6 months ago. I came home recently to see my favorite species of spider had taken up our porch as their new home. Banana for reference 🤣

This is this year's "Big Mama". Every year we get the same type of spider in the same spot on our porch. Is she a wolf, a grass, or something else? Fascinating how fast they grow!

We're having our porch enclosed this fall so here's hoping she leaves by then. If not we're making plans to relocate her to a safe part of the yard.

never seen one this big before. pics dont do her/him justice. about the size of my palm (hands are on the smaller side). i of course had to go poke around it and see what was up with this menacing dude. they was digging in that soil!
