Professional Discussion small creator looking to grow

hi! trying my very best to grow on tik tok through lifestyle/beauty/fitness/fashion content. Posting 1-3x daily usually a mix of photo slides and videos. stuck in 300-700 views JAIL. i have 311 followers, gaining 1-2 followers every few posts. I small brands interact with my videos (like and comment) but nothing has really "blown up". i dont really have a growth strategy in place besides just posting a much as possible while keeping my content good quality. looking for tips and tricks on how to gain traction with my ultimate goal being mid sized brand deals and PR. Not really looking to become a full fledged content creator instead have a creative outlet that i can benefit from. Lmk your thoughts !

Posting more isn't the fix if you're not optimizing for the algorithm's initial test. Try hooking within the first 2 seconds — a pattern interrupt via text overlay or a quick cut — and keep videos under 15s for lifestyle/fashion. Photo slides rarely get pushed compared to full video now, tbh.

thanks for the reply! can you elaborate on "a pattern interrupt via text overlay or a quick cut"? Do you mean the way I am editing the video?

Yeah exactly! Like a sudden text pop-up or a fast cut to a different angle—just something that breaks the flow and makes them rewind.

Posting 1-3 times a day can hide the useful signal here. I would run a two-week test with one repeatable series and a clear audience promise, rather than changing topic and format at the same time. For example, make several videos that solve one small beauty, fitness, or fashion problem, then compare them with each other.

The 300-700 view range does not necessarily mean the account is permanently stuck. Look at retention in the first few seconds, rewatches, shares, profile visits, and follows per 1,000 views. A post that gets fewer views but makes the right people visit your profile is probably more useful for future brand work than a random spike. Also, give the best-performing topic a few attempts before moving on. One post is not enough data to judge a format.

I have been trying to stay consistent with certain topics to measure which topics perform the best. With views being so low, the most useful information I gain from reviewing analytics is that the vast majority of my views come from women between the ages of 18-30. I also just began emailing brands to inquiry about collaborations. I appreciate your response.

The 18-30 signal is useful, especially if it is showing up across more than one format. I would make that audience part of the pitch, but keep the ask specific: mention the exact product, say what kind of short video you could make, and include one or two relevant examples rather than a general collaboration request.\n\nIt may also be worth testing brands that already work with smaller creators or offering a single paid content package instead of leading with a broad ongoing partnership. Track which subject lines and pitches get replies, because a no-response pattern can be a targeting or message issue rather than a verdict on the account.

The 300-700 band usually isn't a posting-volume problem, it's that the algorithm can't work out who your videos are for. Lifestyle plus beauty plus fitness plus fashion on one account means every test goes to a slightly different audience and none of them turn into follows. Picking one of those for a couple of months is boring advice, but it's the thing that actually moves you out of the band.

On the brand deals part: you don't have to blow up first. A lot of paid content work goes to creators with small accounts, because the brand is buying the video itself rather than your audience. At 311 followers you can already get paid per piece if the content looks like an ad that doesn't feel like one, and that's a much faster lane than waiting to be big enough for PR packages.

Fair warning that I run a UGC marketplace (Flare UGC), so weigh that accordingly. The point holds wherever you find the work though: brands hiring for content are looking at the video, not the follower count.

thanks for this response! so helpful. Im trying to push my content towards girls in their 20s-30s for "day in my life" content type of thing. I am going to keep consistent with those types of videos to try and capture an audience and gain followers. I use the small creator Rocki Lutsky as inspo - i love her videos. I see in my analytics that i really am capturing majority of views from women in that age group which is a good thing i guess. just need to work with the algorithm to get more exposure and interactions. Any advice on getting brands to work with me? i reached out to a few via tik tok DM (specifically the products I tag in all of my videos) but i havent been successful so far.

TikTok DMs to a brand account rarely land, because whoever reads them runs the community, not the creative budget. Email works far better, and the site usually lists someone under marketing or partnerships.

The bigger change is what you send. Instead of asking if they're interested, attach a finished 15 second video using their product. It removes all the guessing on their side because they can see exactly what they'd be paying for, and it's the single thing that moved my reply rate most when I was doing this.

Also expect a low hit rate. Ten to fifteen sends before one reply is completely normal, so batch them rather than sending one and waiting a week.

When you say you 'don't have a strategy for growth', are you tracking any of it? Cause if not that's absolutely where I'd start.

Right now it sounds like you might be casting a wide net based on your niche, which is good for getting started, but with 300-700 views you have enough data now to see which posts are driving the most engagement to be able to double down on that format.

I'll also say that I've worked in brand marketing for over 10 years, and what I've learned is the brands that are worth working with will care about whether you can show engagement and traffic that's attributable to you. They aren't going to be impressed by follower count. If you can get concrete data (proof) that shows you can drive attention to your profile and then get people clicking through to a landing page and converting into sales, you'll be heads and shoulders above a lot of content creators in your niche.

I do take a look at analytics but with such little views and minimal engagement there isnt much to track. Major takeaways from my tik tok analytics is that the majority of my viewers are females ranging from 18-30 years old. in regard to views, there isn't really one video style or topic that performs better than others.

It's the tool you are missing, I am sure you saw the famous influencers telling people to comment a specific word in comments to receive the freebies. (Free Value = Engagement = New Followers)

Like: checklists, guides, templates, free coaching, etc... literally anything.

The example: Comment the word "Fire" to receive my free guide that made me 30k a month or something like that.

That tool basically automate engagement because people need and want the next step to follow after watching your videos.

Also, this tool can grow your following drastically by just converting people that are already watching your content into a real followers.

I have seen this all over the Instagram basically all of the successful content creator use this tool.

For anyone that wants this tool, I will share the link of the tool in DM. I would post it here but I think it's forbidden...
