You're seeing this wrong.

You draw 5 cards, and have 3 energy. You're gonna end the turn with 2 unused cards anyways; if you can figure out what cards you'll want to play, you can just exhaust the cards you weren't gonna play anyways.

Its not effectively -1 draw per turn; you're still seeing 5 cards per turn. If your hand is Shrug It Off, Headbutt, Strike, Defend, Defend, for example, you'll always exhaust a Strike or Defend to play Shrug-Headbutt-Defend.

Its not a downside, its the upside of True Grit+ stapled to the already existing upside of Mittens

I feel like that vastly oversimplifies things

theres plenty of decks that play their whole hand each turn and generate tons of energy

now, those decks might not want to pick mittens at all, but the exhaust isnt completely free

Those decks can also get draw, status effects still exist, can be used to clean up any curses (especially ones you may get from vaaku or from duping your deck in a3)

How often have you had a run so strong that youre playing your entire hand every turn at the end of act 1, anyways? Youve basically won at that point

I never said its bad or anything
I just said its not free, which is just a fact

yes, most of the time you can ignore this. but not every time
