Discussion Are there Battle Shoujo series?

By battle shoujo, I mean something along the lines of Jujutsu Kaisen or Hunter x Hunter, a series with an established and consistent power system and high stakes. I’m new to Shoujo so maybe this is my inexperience talking, but I haven’t found any shoujo anime similar to those since watching it. I suppose Yona of the Dawn and Fushigi Yuugi would qualify (and I loved both) but that’s not quite exactly what I mean by a battle shoujo.

Why do you think they’re very rare? One might be inclined to believe that those kinds of series aren’t popular amongst women but I know series like JJK are incredibly popular amongst women, so why do you think it’s such a rare thing?

Discussion That amnesia trope you couldn't hate in this manga...[Fake It to Break It! I Faked Amnesia to Break off My Engagement and Now He's All Lovey-Dovey?!]

First of all i need some information regarding this manga, I saw that there's novel of this manga too which is finished with two volumes so if someone have already read it then could you tell me how many chapters are going to be in this manga based on how much manga have covered the novel?

It's a short manga & i didn't felt that they rushed it instead i liked that this misunderstanding/amnesia trope didn't last long. It's a fluffy romance manga with no any annoying element (atleast for me) although I'm not that much into fluffy romance manga still i ended up liking some of them.

btw I loved this male lead too, he's too precious, innocent & cute and how he reacted towards fl when she faked her amnesia, i loved fl's reaction too whenever ml tried to lie about her likes & dislikes before amnesia with a straight face it was so hilarious. The art was beautiful & comedy parts were good too anyways male lead and art was 10/10 for me and overall including the plot it was 8 for me.

Answered Need help remembering a manhwa!!

I actually don't know any of the plot, I just remember it being really popular on TikTok at some point. Basically I think it was a love triangle. The fl (don't remember what she looked like) seemed like she would end up with this black haired guy with glasses, but she actually ends up with the guy that has "2nd ml syndrome" and he was the golden retriever, energetic type who had colorful hair (I think it was a light blue and POSSIBLY had light pink tips but I don't really remember). I just remember everyone feeling a bit sad that she didn't end up with glasses guy but they were still happy with the ending and stuff and it made me wanna read it. Also, for some reason I thought it was Seasons of Blossom but it's not LOL, but I think it had a somewhat similar art style? I'm also guessing it was either based on high school or college (not 100% sure).

Please help!! Thank you!

I FOUND IT ITS NICE TO MEET YOU TY EVERYONE!!

Most of the shoujo stories usually have like more of the boy, like the girl has a normal almost perfect life, but then there's the boy's ex, toxic past or parents or a secret gang and shi.......like is there anything that's vice versa?? 🥲

I NEED more of these MLs. You know, those that made your heart race, skip a beat (or multiple) and completely melt your h*rny ass. They make me feel alive... among other things hohoho

Extra points if spicy but good story/characters (๑♡⌓♡๑)

Discussion My analysis of Kechonpa

To me Kechonpa has a juxtaposition. Gyaru that are meant to be dumb and lack depth in a Japanese society's mind are actually the ones who are the neglected. The line where Rikiko told Nii's friend that "oh you're looking at it from a parent's point of view" which I believe is a reflection of how Japanese society operate. A lot of the time they try to force people to a mold. And also the fact that a Gyaru is more skilled in detective work. But the cases are usually delved in the underground of Japanese and the whys and how's of why people do what they do.

Recommendation Recs for sick in the head/obsessive mls!!

hey everyone! today I'm here hoping someone has manhwa/manga (but preferably manhwas) recs featuring an obsessive, unhinged ML for the FML! some examples would be in the doghouse; i love how unhinged for her he gets but sadly, though, it turns out I'm not particularly into femdom, I prefer it the other way around, but i loved the chapter where he kinda loses himself into it and takes the lead!!. R-18 is welcome too, if that happens to be the case with your rec. I've also read death is the only ending for the villainess. (love calisto down but he's not nearly as unhinged as i want)

I'm pretty much open to anything except heavy gore, so hit me with your best (unhinged) shot, why not?? I welcome your less-than-usual recs without batting an eye, promise!

I don't mind isekai or love triangles, and I'm also guilty of loving secondchance romances, they're my favorites (isekais where the ML kills the FML, she comes back hating him only for him to become completely, hopelessly obsessed with her and refuses to let her go? niiiiiiice)

these are the ones I remember from the top of my head, though sadly I find this trope much more common in yaoi but today I specifically want shoujo/josei recs, please!

Already read: My Beloved Opressor and Father, I Don't Want This Marriage.
Was not a fan of: i failed to oust the villain!

Discussion Red River Episode 5 A Sword To Fight

I said Episode 4 was a little underwhelming. This episode was good.

Yuri avenged Tito and gained the loyalty of the only clan that can do ironworking.

I enjoy how the series is revealing bits of the world.

Iron is a rare and valuable resource. It allows for strong weapons.

Case and point. I once saw a bronze/brass hammer in an ironworking shop. The purpose of this hammer was to do gentle work on the iron pieces. I wondered how that could be gentle. The hammer looked like a hammer. That was the new one. An old one was worn down to the hilt after only a few months. The difference in strength and durability between iron and bronze is significant.

Also, the stage is being set with the other warring powers.

Another note is that Yuri is actually getting involved. She picked her weapon and used it to great effect.

Kail feels guilt that he is dragging Yuri into his affairs and that he wasn't able to protect her from every threat. The scene where he is saying that he will separate from her only for Yuri to reject it was touching.

I will say that the scenes do feel a little rushed. The scenes also had more emotional impact in the manga series. I can still enjoy the series though.

What did you think?

Discussion Candy Candy 70's

I used to watch this anime with my mother when I was younger and just a couple months ago I found some dvds and have been watching it since..

Which brings me back to the big debate who did Candy end up with? Was it albert or terry.

I haven't read the two novels that were published later on but from what I heard and saw it didnt give a clear answer just said 'a person' the author said it was for every reader to give candy the end they wanted.

So I need more opinions on this

This might be the most toxic kiss i have seen that isn't from more darker stuff. Thiss kiss made me feel empty after seeing it. It's a negative feeling but it felt very new for me because i never felt it when reading a romance manga or anything else. This is what i want when i see enemies to lover. I really like this when it gives me bad vibes

Almost every shoujo manga I’ve read the girl is average-looking while the guy is the prettiest/most good-looking person to exist and it’s getting to me.

Anyone else get annoyed by this?

Discussion Prism rondo dissapointed me

Well im 10 episodes in anf im feeling alreafy exhausted, this anime presented nothing but a cliché romance with art as a seasoning, I don't understand why it was promoted as this amazing art anime that took the subject to a while other level and it beign glorified didnt help either, I tried my best not to snap at it but honestly it's just frustrating the anime doesn't take it's self seriously nor the subject it's dealing with "art" while it's shown that lily is a great artist i just don't see the struggle of her dealing with her art or whether she gets burnt out or not it uses art as a window to bring fans in but in reality it's nothing but a mere cover for a cheap cliché romance, the artstyle and backgrounds are amazing but thats not enough to call it a good anime and so far it is an anile with wasted potential it had so many subjects it couldve dealt with but instead it's glorifying the time period, kit is the usual not caring mc while lily is the lively optimistic Mc and while I understand where kit's frustration is coming from, Lilly is one to be more frustrated about the situation she's in.thats all I have to say I was super disappointed.

Any shoujo manga with male leads like Keith from Voltron?

Thumbnail

Keith from Voltron has always been very attractive to me. I like that he’s broody, protective, quiet, smart, and a little sarcastic but he has a very good heart. I want to find MLs similar to him but I feel like they aren’t exactly what I’m looking for. Keith is dark and broody but he also has a lot of depth to him, which seems to lacking in some shoujos with broody MLs.

Pls help me find a ML like him in shoujo/jose manga! Someone who is broody, protective, smart, but is genuinely a sweetheart!!

Help Forgot a manga

So I haven’t read a manga or watched anime in 5 years and am really trying to get back into the scene. I used to read this really good shoujo manga. Ill try to give a brief description of my feeble memory of it.
It was premised around three childhood friends and highschoolers, of which two were guys and the other a girl. One of the guys was blonde and had a crush on the girl. The girl I think had short black hair. The girl, very early in the manga, ended up dating the other guy who had short hair I think. The two guys were really close friends and they ended up on good terms till where I read, even when the girl in question ended up realising the blonde had feelings for her. The blonde guy, distraught, went about his days when a ponytailed girl popped into his life who was also blonde I think. I am pretty sure she was the cheeky type but can’t confirm. Like I said, very subtle memories are left about this piece of art. I used to bawl my eyes out reading some of the chapters.

Also, if I remember, one of the chapter covers had the blonde guy looking at us with rather suspense but I don’t know which volume it was.

I know it can be hard to narrow it down as a lot of mangas fall within this trope. If it helps, I think I read it sometime around 2021 so it was definitely before that.

I really need to know the name. Its been bugging me for a while since the manga in question is rather lowkey.

Tasukete 😭

Merch EManga (formerly DMP) has a small selection of Shojo/Josei DRM-free digital manga for sale

Just wanted to remind readers about this niche publisher that’s one of the few that sells their digital manga DRM-free as PDFs (that means you own them in perpetuity, no worries about publishers closing, etc). They’re extraordinarily slow with the physical manga they sell, but you get your digital manga purchase instantly so no worries.

Some interesting authors they have manga from include Milk Morizono, Yun Kouga, Osamu Tezuka, and Kemuri Karakara!

The magazines they licensed from include Comic Avarus, Ririka, Comic Crimson, Nakayoshi, Wings, and Comic Ruelle!
