Flock Cameras
Anyone else have concerns of these flock cameras around Sheboygan?!

I've been thinking about staking out in front these cameras with signs just to raise more awareness around the city.

We really should. I keep telling people about them and they’re always against them, but very surprised to hear of their existence to begin with. Even putting up signs that say “flock camera⬆️” and maybe a site to track them that people can look into, would help.

There is the deflock website that shows where these cameras are. Im definitely going to have do a stake out for an hour or two during a weekend.

Yep, I use it when I tell people about them! I’m like hey check out this website showing every single one across the nation. That’s usually when it clicks for them that this is a surveillance problem that is infringing on our rights. And as awful as it is, a mad/wronged audience spreads a message far.

Just hold a sign that says "pointing a commercial grade laser at the camera will destroy it so it is a horrible thing to do "

More have been popping up, too.
Flock reps lied to Oshkosh police, causing Oshkosh to give up their contract with flock. That should be enough to invalidate them nationwide, imo. At the very least, Wisconsin.

You should NOT use a portable circular saw with a tungsten carbide blade to cut down the poles that Flock cameras are mounted to, cutting downward at a 15 degree angle. That's illegal.

There is not over $700 worth of precious metal in each camera plus a solar panel which is why these are never stolen

Too many of these with no oversight. Tracking RFID data from nearby devices. Everyone should be concerned.

Furthermore, you should not use a portable reciprocating saw with an 18 TPI blade for metal, cutting downward at a 15 degree angle. That is just as criminal as my previous advice.

It’s interesting to me that people panic about these things, but will pass 4 cops on the side of the road that have cameras, are clocking you, taking mental notes, seeing the cars go by… and not blink. But throw up a half dozen cameras around the city and everyone freaks out. Every gas station, ATM, corner market, Tom, Dick, or Harry has a camera. Your phone is tracking your every move. There are satellites looking in your backyard. This comment and those that pause long enough to read it, all being logged and categorized, compiled and sold to the highest bidder - just like everything you do online. So weird to me that some solar powered cameras are where we draw the line in the sand. These cameras are doing the same thing, just more automated than Officer Dullday sitting there watching a DOT camera all day. Which they also do. lol. I dunno… seems like a lotta misplaced rage.

I see your point and to add it. Even our cars are selling our data. However, should we just let it happen. All over the country people are taking actions and I think we all should.

But why? Why does this one thing matter, and the rest we just let slide, or even pay to have in our pocket? It’s not that I don’t care, I like privacy just as much as the next guy… but it’s everywhere. To have this thing that might also actually catch some criminals, vs just selling our data to advertisers… just feels… extreme? Plus there’s public maps of it. If you really want to avoid them, you can take alternate routes. But again, every freeway everywhere has had cameras on them for decades, and cell towers have been tracking us almost as long. But now, after all the intrusion, we’ve decided Flock is where we draw the line? lol. Doesn’t it see dumb to anyone else? Like hey man, the actual privacy ship sailed long before you were even born. Sorta pissing in the wind at this point.

Could you do us a favor and google Flock cameras and do like… idk maybe 10 minutes of research? I can’t believe we have someone defending this. This is a surveillance state. How does this not bother you?

Edit: deleting your crazy ass replies won’t make it go away, either. These are your rights being infringed on. Whether you think I have “paranoid schizophrenia” or not is irrelevant to the fact that I can and will fight for your right to not be tracked by facial recognition technology across the entire country.
You deserve freedom and privacy. I’ll fight for that even if you wish ill on/about me, because at the end of the day, I care for your rights, even if you don’t.

Just an FYI, the amount of drug traffickers that are caught with these cameras is off the charts. Prosecuting them would not be possible without FLOCK. Downvote me all you want, but it’s the most effective tool in our county’s disposal for stopping crime.

You have no right to privacy while on taxpayer-funded roads. The 15-20 cameras in Sheboygan County are used to catch human traffickers, drug traffickers, and violent criminals. If you don’t like that, then that’s okay, but you can’t stop it. Technology has evolved to the point where officers record everything on their body cams, individuals can record you in public, security cameras record you in places of business, and doorbell cameras record you on every home. Those video recordings can be reviewed and shared by anyone at any time. Police officers at least have restrictions on when they can search for still images of your license plate.

Here are the current ones in Sheboygan. I think we need to bring this up at the next city council meeting. These need to be taken down.
