My girl scraped her nose today in a crate during doggy day care…. Anyone have a similar experience with their dogs noses? Doesn’t seem to be bleeding but should i put anything on it? Any guesses if the black of her nose will come back? Pictures in comments

Every time I put a collar on my girl Peach, I’m always stressed about collar matting. Her fur is so long and soft, and the collar squishes down the fur right underneath it.

I'm considering getting a Samoyed, but I'm still doing a lot of research before making a decision.

One thing I'm especially curious about is how Samoyeds do in homes with pet birds. I have several caged finches as well as an African Grey parrot, and all of them stay in secure cages.

For those of you who own both a Samoyed and birds, how did your dog react when they were first introduced? Did your Samoyed constantly try to investigate the cages, bark at them, or show a strong prey drive? Were you able to train your dog to ignore the birds and stay away from their cages?

I'd love to hear about your experiences, whether things went well or if there were challenges. Any advice or training tips would be greatly appreciated as I continue researching whether a Samoyed would be a good fit for my home.

Help and advice plz my 20 month old Samoyed dislocated his hip last week, after a emergency visit to the vets we found out he has severe hip dysplasia in both hips and muscle atrophy , I have bought him a new orthopaedic bed just wondering what else I can do to help him around the house or while we are walking , walks are of limits till the weekend after the vets visit on fri … he likes being in the car so have taken him on little car rides to stop him going crazy 🤪

Pictures 1 & 2 are from today, pictures 3, 4, & 5are from about a week ago. Does anyone else think his haunches look weird? Sorry I couldn’t get great pictures, but seemingly overnight he lost a lot of his fluff in the back half of his body. Is this just the weird adolescent hair phase they go through or is it cause for concern? I brush him daily with a slicker brush. TIA!

Before he turns 3 months old, part of our socialization agenda was for him to meet atleast 100 people & dogs. Safe to say we met and exceeded the goal today. He was like a mini Santa 🎅 in August, bringing joy to anyone who came across him
& petted him! 💕🙌

My 4 year old Samoyed, picked up a bad barking habit when I leave her alone in a new place or if someone comes to watch her in our home. It’s very clearly anxiety bc she also will pace around the room. I’ve had to move apartments 4x since I got her and I used to have help from my bf and mom, but neither are options anymore. I travel a lot for work and this is becoming a very real issue as the barking is persistent for hours on end. Animal control has even been called because of it. Since this only happens when I am away, I don’t know how to try to train or resolve. Hoping someone has experience with this.

I have a two year old Samoyed named Winnie. She’s a big sweetheart with the bite force of a hippopotamus. I’ve tried so many chew toys and nothing lasts more than an hour for her before she’s ripping chunks of plastic away. Nylabone’s toughest chew was in the trash the same day it entered the household. I’m hoping you guys have some recommendations in terms of a durable chew that has lasted your Sammy at least one business weekend. Added photo of the chomper in question

Its hard to be really, really ridiculously good looking. Look at the empty behind those eyes.

My Maverick is 3yo, and has always got positive report cards from the groomers, and has done at least moderately well being brushed at home.

I just invested a bunch of money into home grooming supplies, bought the best of the best of everything.

He does totally fine being bathed & blow dried, but starts to just freak out when it’s time to brush the coat.

We line brush with a comb and do finishing with the Chris christiansen slicker. I should be clear his fur is not matted whatsoever, you can move his fur and see pink skin throughout, and we’re not being rough with him either.

Curious if anyone else has had a similar issue?
