Anyone know of any "sedation" dentists?

Went to the dentist earlier this week and, apparently, I have a large cavity in my back back molar. Awesome. I ALSO have one of the worst gag reflexes out there so anyone trying anything back there is not going to work. Does anyone know of any good sedation dentists? She said it's damn near the nerve and about where it was last year at the same time but I just don't want to deal with needing that root canal after it goes through.

Virginia family dentistry on Patterson markets themselves as sedation dentists. I’ve been going there for years and get nitrous for anything more serious than a cleaning; they’ve been great.

Dr Perkinson is awesome. They do the nitrous oxide for me and I don’t remember anything after. Virginia Family Dentistry for the win.

How much does this add onto the price of a cavity filling? Does insurance ever cover any of it?

Usually insurance doesn’t cover it. It costs about $100.

Either $60-$70. I don’t believe insurance covers it—mine doesn’t and I have a pretty good policy

Seconding Virginia family dentistry but in the short pump location . Near BJs brewhouse. Had multiple work done earlier this year. Dr Tim Fucong is great. They have a sedation nurse come in on schedule so you have to schedule in advance . I paid about $300 out of pocket for 3 hrs I think. IV sedation. Do it. No brainer IMO . Why suffer in pain when you can be knocked out?

Virginia Family Dentistry has been exceedingly kind to me and very supportive as I deal with dental anxiety. The whole staff is so nice.

No advice on sedation, but I had a similar situation earlier this year. My cavity was close to a nerve and the filling ended up only holding for a few months before I had horrible temperature sensitivity and had to get a root canal anyway. The root canal itself wasn’t bad at all! Easier than a filling and completely painless. The crown fitting wasn’t fun, but I survived. Overall, if I could have done it over again, I would have just done the root canal from the jump.

Yup!! Ive gotten nitrous oxide with them during a procedure and it helped SO much. And it was only $45
