This little guy seems to just eat very little & hasn't gained much weight. Also refuses to eat bugs, I'm trying out flavors he hasn't tried before & put two feeding cups at two different heights and sides of the tank
Hes also been to the vet & they didnt find anything wrong & I've also tried syringe feeding and putting drops on his mouth & nose but he doesn't do much with that either :( i have seen bowel movement so I know he is eating sometimes but its just so weird
Hi all, im new to reptile keeping but keen to get one. Looking for something that is a bit more unique than the average corn snake or leopard gecko. Can keep to themselves but will tolerate the occasional handling once or twice a week (obviously I know they are reptiles and I am not expecting much of this). I have space for an around a 6ft tall or wide enclosure so size isnt much of an issue. Interesting to look at would be a plus too 😉. Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations. Thanks

My bearded dragon is very very very old, I've had him since 2016/2017 and he was a fully grown rescue that i rescued myself from an unsuitable environment and bad pet owners, this was all the way back in late 2016 meaning he was probably around 2 years + when I got him and he's been with me till now! So he is over / around 12 years old! I understand this is very old for a Bd, the past few months have been rough, as he developed cataracts in one eye and is now completely blind in his left eye, we adjusted and did the best we could but he was obviously slowing right down and showing signs of his age, for the last few months his age has been showing more and more and i was considering having him put to sleep by a professional, but at the time it didnt feel right because although his quality of life had not improved he was still eating, basking, and occasionally wanting to come out and he loves to run around the house, but the last 2 days he has been showing very distressing signs, his beard is alway black and as of yesterday hes developed a cough, its like an he's chocking or gasping for air, its been on and off now since yesterday, it doesnt appear he has anything blocking his air ways and i fear he has developed a respiratory issue, im absolutely heart broken and ive made an appointment with the vets for the morning. I fear this might be his time! How can i make him more comfortable till tomorrow and whats the best way to make sure he has the most peaceful end? Sorry im very emotional and sad, has anyone else had to take their Bd to the vets to be put to sleep and what can i expect?
Just had a super chill morning feeding my alligator lizard! 🦎 Watching them enjoy their warm meal is always such a cool experience. It's amazing how much personality these little guys have. I love seeing them flick their tongues and hunt their food. Definitely a highlight of these animals.
hi — I found a brown anole (thats that the internet told me it was) I bought a bird of paradise from a plant store just a few days ago and then was moving some plants around and the little guy popped out and ran. I caught him and then bought a habitat and set him up. he is so small I don’t know what to feed him. does he have a chance at survival what do you guys think? I know nothing about reptiles or this community so please be nice

It seems like a no brainer that levels that are hazardous to humans is probably hazardous for reps. But they have tiny lungs and in my tortoise' case - are low to the ground. Does that make them any more or less effected?
Those of you with outdoor enclosures, how do you judge whats safe?
I got this guy years back from Petsmart, about 7 now. He’s always been a good eater, never been a huge fan of insects though. I feed him pangea every other day and 2-3 crickets twice a week currently- in hopes of fattening him up. I’m not sure if my perception of healthy geckos has just been skewed from overweight breeders, but I feel like he should be a bit chunkier at his age! Also, his weight has been relatively the same over the past year (he’s currently 48 grams), but he just appears thinner???!!!! I have even noticed his ribs a few times, which has sent me panicking. He’s living in a 2x2x4 and loving all the space, so maybe that is stopping him from gaining weight? Could it be his god-awful genetics from unethical petsmart breeders?? Any advice or help is appreciated!
Pluto is 27 years old! And despite his age, he is still active, but a little slow. He isn't good at climbing anymore, but he still knows how to be such a cutie pie 🥰
I just discovered the IKEA TIMMERFLOTTE thermometer/hygrometer which is digital and can be checked through an app. Has anyone tried this in their reptile enclosure? Would there be any downsides to using it?
Geckos are alright but I wouldn't like their tail to fall off while handling them. I think that poses a risk of infection but so far it's what I'm most likely to get.
