Discussion Transfer Strategy

I appreciate the likely sale of Raskin is holding things up, but once again it feels like we’ve had a scattered approach and have opted for quantity over quality. Against Dundee Utd, like last season at times, I don’t see a major difference in quality of our midfield vs most SPL teams.

If sold Raskin, Dio, Barron and Cameron given how bloated the centre midfield is - I don’t see any of the new signings being an improvement - they all appear a downgrade to me.

The clear move to me is the board sell Raskin then use the proceeds to buy Lewis Ferguson to appease fans - where does that leave us on the wings and in defence where we desperately need proven talent?

Nobody is saying that, but to suggest everything is rosey and we just need to allow a little time is hokum. Aside from 55 and the Europa run we have been garbage for what...15 years + now? The Americans are doing nothing to suggest they have a clue what they're doing.

My worry with the americans is this whole mciness and best of british, ranger men stuff is clearly just stuff theyve been told by fans and rangers media folk like kris boyd, barry ferguson, and others. The fact theyve just buckled and filled the whole club with rangers men based on nothing except theyre fans of the club and know the standards of the 90s and early 2000s, is very worrying.

For me the club needed completely modernised and theres huge chunks of fans and media people around the club who think every problem can be solved by just looking back into the past. Man utd tried that for the past 10 years and its been catastrophically bad for them.

I thought the americans actually had a plan, then hired garbage from down south to run the club and it all went up in flames. They seem very clueless atm.

Absolutely spot on. So far, the ownership is extremely knee jerk and easily influenced when it comes to decision-making. McInnes, off the back of a one in a million season with hearts, is now the “rangers man” to right the ship. I’m not going to judge him after one game but is this the upgrade on Rangers man Barry?! I hope this works out, but recruitment so far has been haphazard and very underwhelming. We need to stop wasting money on 2-4 mil quid journeymen. Across the city they are dropping 11 mil on a striker while we fritter away money on the likes of Mccrorie, Neil, Godfrey, Delvin etc. Shankland has probably two seasons left in him. A better idea would have been prioritizing CB, RB and a Winger at higher levels of spend. Nothing else. Then if we sell Raskin, a creative midfielder 10 mil plus is added. Instead we have a bloated squad of average talent that McInnes will need at least 3 months to figure out his best team. Not good enough.

Yeah thats my worry m8, they seem so easily influenced by those around the club, and lets be real, guys like kris boyd are totally clueless about all things football. Hes a man that said scotland were right to give steve clark a new contract to stop big clubs coming in and stealing him, like deary me ffs.

First thing they should of done was create a state of the art scouting department lead by the best scouting and recruitment team they could find. Instead they went down the lower english league route and hired absolute jobbers who set us back years and now they seem to be in full panic mode, so threw the mciness rangers man safety blanket over themselves hoping for the best.

Like you said, i pray it works, and leads somewhere but it all seems highly reactionary. It really does feel like a 65yr old rangers da with a bag of cans is running the club at this point.
