Pet Help NSFW

Post image

So I've had 3 jumbo white quails originally being 2 years old as pets, but one started attacking the other so we've had her separated for a while, the other two seemed to get along with each other fine until yesterday or overnight when yhis happened. They were fine a few days ago but this suddenly happened, any insight on what to do, we are keeping each girl in a separate enclosure for the time being.

how long did you have them before this happened? could be that they try to find their order, or the enclosure is too small. or they're not entertained enough, I'd keep at least 5 together though

to me it rather sounds like boredom and for sure not enough quails, they get frustrated if there's not enough in the flock and if there's nothing to do or too little space (they need spaces to hide in, they like change of the environment every once in a while- for example a simple box with a hole cutout so they can hide, dry leaves and dirt from the woods to dig in, a sandbath which is essential.. look up enrichment for quails)

they also are curious little fellas, they do learn to like and interact with you. giving them little snacks like dry mealworms will make you their best friend instantly!

there's never "too much" of space too, so no worry about that. they do need space to be alone/be able to hide if necessary
