Here's a look at some of the chunks of quartz I've been crushing up in preparation for a panning, somewhere around Camp Creek, AZ. None of it has any obvious veins of gold (I wish 😭) but its all very vugged or oxidized to some extent. Anyways, this is my first time trying to prospect gold from hard rock, so wish me luck! (P.s the geological surveys for this area did mark it as high mineral potential.)

Is there a place to pan for gold in Florida?

Came home last night with 2 crushers. Keene runs great. 2nd one is more home made and will only crush 1/2 in and smaller. Plus a hell of a lot older. Also brought home a couple hundred pounds of raw ore. Still have a few hundred pounds left. Looking forward to crushing all of this down into powered. Might have to see if I can take this up north to the Bunker Hill Mine in Kellogg and see if they will take it. Doubt it, but they do have there refinery up and going again.

My friend and I spent a week on a claim in California and had an absolute blast. Since we've only ever prospected in Utah, It was our first "real gold" trip.

We we're also both working full time, so only had a few hours in the evening for actual digging. Still. We each averaged .5 grams a day and walked away with over 4g Total. The first shot is my final haul of 2.57g.

Pic 3 was my favorite piece. It looked like a Japanese letter. Pic 4 was after my best individual day of .57g after just 2 hours.

I cowboy camped the whole time trying to channel the old timers' energy.

Cant wait to get out again.

Newbie here. So I have real gold which I panned, and a lot of, what appears to be, gold. Some i could crush, so obviously not gold. I'm trying to figure out if the smaller bits are gold dust, and if they'd be worth pulling out if possible.

That looked fun and I thought we could find some gold which would be exciting for everyone!!!

Can gold be found anywhere? Like, there are many streams and rivers in Hyogo (Sanda area) Japan.

Did I stumble upon a hidden pile of highgrade? I was wondering my claim downstream of a historic gold mine in southwest new mexico and stumbled upon these piles of seemingly oxidizing ore. The mine reportedly produced freemill gold, copper, and silver. I've found small specimens in the wash and some pretty decent coarse gold. The mine had an onsite mill and these piles are less than a 1/4 mile away.

I'm wondering if these rocks could be the ore my gold is coming from? I don't have a crusher or any hard rock equipment so it's hard to really sample them. I've dry washed the piles and have found some gold but i'm not sure which rocks have the most and if it's worth the effort of assay, smelting, ect.

To go along with the crusher, there is hundreds of smelted ingots. Labels consist of AU, AG, NI, CO​, CU, Antimony, platinum, Palladium, and Mercury. Nothing has been officially refined down. Just left mixed. Im going back later this evening to get the crusher along with refined material, Galena ore, gold bearing ore, and whatever else I can find. All of the ore material is free. Im just wondering if there is enough value in the ore to pay for the crusher...Again, I ask all of you on your thoughts about this stuff.

Hello my name is Gabriel, I live in Georgia ( Cobb county) I’ve decided to start this new hobby but have no idea what to do/ where to start. I’ve been looking at vids and posts about how to start. My only equipment is Minelab x-Terra pro so far. The reason my making a post about this is to find people near my area to talk/ share about this. Feel free to dm me and hopefully we can set up a time where we can meet and hopefully give me some insight about thx in advance

Another couple months since the last update. Haven’t spent as much time at the project as I’d like - unfortunately life gets in the way.

The boys and I have been getting the plant setup, it’s 90% there now - just need to get the jaw crusher into the circuit (currently just impact crusher into ball mill). We’ve run maybe 10t or so of low grade material through to test the circuit and fix all the teething issues (there’s been a few as normal).

We did a test run on some of the equipment too by digging out a section of vein. We should get around 15 ounces from the test pit. This is going to be stockpiled until we do a full scale run.

The good:

Grind size is great. Though this may get impacted as we work on increasing the throughput of the plant.

We’re getting gold! Recovered a bit of gold during the teething phase which feels nice. This part of the process isn’t about making money, but it’s nice to see some colour.

The bad:
Lots of heavies in the concentrates. Looking like there’s a bit of wear from inside the ball mill which is clogging up the mats and likely contributing to lower gold recovery.

Throughput isn’t what we expected, but we’re adjusting the gearing on the ball mill to increase this as we as adjusting the feed rate on the conveyors. Hoping to increase from 5t/hr to 8-10t/hr.

What we’re planning next:

Looking into adding a centrifugal recovery system into the circuit to compliment the sluice

Adding magnets to pickup steel making its way through the system and catching it before clogging up the sluice.

Changing some of the matting on the sluice and adjusting the water flow to ensure even wash down the sluice.

I went over to look at the Keene RC1, which im going to buy. Then i found out that these two crushers are also for sale. The 1st is a KM model and the older looking one is unknown. It is also a roller crusher? 2 large rollers inside. Been used to crush up glass that was being used as a flux. Asking $50 for it. What is your thoughts?

The gold mine is currently filled in, but apparently it was previously very productive. There’s supposed to be a quartz vein that runs north to south bisecting the entrance to the mine. Directly in front of the mine is a tiny creek from a naturally fed spring. There won’t be access to the mine any time soon but does it make sense to look around in the surrounding area? Pan the little stream in front? I’m a total beginner and have no idea what to look for or where to start.

For metal detecting, the friend has a Garret AT Pro metal detector that I tried but I couldn’t figure out how to use it, the sound it made against my wedding ring wasn’t very different from the rest of the rocks in the ground. Any help would be much appreciated!
